that is a great tank...but honestly....you have way to much un necessary stuff. I would hate to see your light bill lol because seems like you are running double of everything
nice tank! you have seen to done everything right except one small thing. you are loosing pars using the glass tops and trapping heat. I would suggest you research this and you'll find your corals happier with the glass tops off. I know you have a chiller but it probably running and using power where you can avoid dissipate more heat from the tank caused by the lights with the tops off. The benifits are endless in a open top system when using MH and T5 lighting system.
thats a ridiculous amount of money for what your keeping. a few NON stoney corals and you have all that . with what you have you could have spent about a 1/4 of what you did and be just as well off. im gonna have to say this is a case of too much money and not enough knowledge
@funkmaster100 kalk reactor keeps ph up :) calcium reactor keeps calcium up :) they work together on dosing pumps, my ph stays at 8.4 and my calcium stays at 450....................
@scott180reef my ph swings from around 7.79 at night to around 8.17 during the height of the day .my cal and dkh was off cause i was incorrectly dosing kalk in my top off. i was adding 2 tbs to my 5 gallon top off and my calcium was 540 and dkh 4 . i lost a lot of corals and both of my clams in 3 months .i stopped the kalk and dosed part 1 of b ionic to raise alk . i'm now at 520 calcium dkh 9 its 4:15pm ph is 7.99 and slowly rising my 75g system has no space left for kalk reactor ne tips
@funkmaster100 WELL I use a ph controller on mine , i think its a must have item, make small changes to your bubble counter till you get it dailed in good, I use tropic eden in my calcium reactor, it needs a ph of 6.5 to disolve,
I drip my calcium reactor into an open chamber in my sump, that has two air stones in it, so I can get rid of the extra CO2, so it wont mess with my PH, but all I can say is make small changes to the setup, till you get it just right :)
Very nice tank. I have a 185 myself and I have the whole build on you tube. I am going skimmerless and using Miracle Mud. I want a battery back up can you tell me where or what model # it is from Dell. Also how about the L x W of the batter back up?
awsome tank, i have a FW right now so its not as hard to maintain. im thinking of getting a SW but ive never understood the complexity of what you just showed in ur vid. with all the plumming and CO2, calcium, reactors etc. nice tank though, very jealous.
yo i got a question about metal halides. i have a light fixture that holds 2 65 watt power compact flourecnents and i have a 150 watt metal halide and the flourecents shine like 2 or maybe 3 times brighter then the metal halide even though the halide is more wattage. should i keep the metal halide on or the flourecents on with my 216 watt t-5 light. i dont know because the power compact bulbs are brighter but the halide has more wattage so what whould be better for the corals. thanks
That is a nice set up , I have a ? for U & it is Im looking 2 get a battery back up tour & I was woundering where U got ur's from & how much.......... Also how well does it work ????????????????????
Scott your right about the equipment. You need to keep the water quality pristine and by having these extra features, reactors, etc you can achieve this. Since then I upgraded my equipment and running carbon/GFO/Cal reactor. Definitely helps out with stability! Good job with the tank. Any updated vids?
excuse me for my noobness but do you need a sump and all that equipment for a reef tank? Is it possible just to have a external filter, heater and skimmer?
well i sold a show car and built this tank. but as far as total money i cant say, i'm afraid my wife might read this :) I will say I have 1500 in the live rock and live sand :)
Completely unnecessary equipment. Waste of money for a softy/lps tank!! If u have a sps tank u should know the requirements of other corals. A calcium reactor is for sps corals not the latter. Nice tank nonetheless!! Could u post a vid of ur sps tank?
@scott180reef dude ur tank is so cheap you only got your tank for 475.. here in Canada the cheapest one i can find is 600 for a 182 galoon and it's for sale...
@TheOneAndOnlyProdigy , well TheOneAndOnlyProdigy maybe you should ask for more Info, before sticking your foot in your mouth :) this tank was all hard corals and clams and just a few softies a few years ago. but now I moved all that stuff to another tank. and all this equipment is to make sure i take the best care of these wonderful animals. so TheOneAndOnlyProdigy you run your reef your way and I will run my reef my way :)
Alot of decent equipment there. Im curoius as to why such an ellaborate setup for such mediocre corals? With that rig you could be growing some really nice items other than softies and LPS. Good work and thanks for sharing the video.

i use the kalkwasser reactor for top off water, and the calcium reactor is on a dosing pump with a calcium controller.
