  • good concept. I know it's hell to lug everything one by one, especially when you are by your self like me. I think you should run with it. Maybe get speakers on like a swivel.Good thinking.

  • I love how everyone thinks that they are the dj that is doing the right thing. I have yet to see a manual or a right way on what and how a dj works. I like the idea of trying to use a set up like this. Great job and good luck.

  • Wow What a Dj Rig.....

  • Thanks, I am getting quite tired of it actually, I am going to start building a new one soon i hope. As soon as this bizzy season is over.

  • Ya know I can't help but wonder how you would go about wheeling that monster into less than desirable environment like a basement? a small livingroom? an upstairs?.I really think constructing a transformer to be unfolded at a venue is kind of overkilling the idea. Myself, as a mobile DJ, has to judge situations and where to put things, where to aim speakers, foggers(y/n), strobes(y/n), reverb, echo,. Good idea because it saves time, bad idea because your skipping steps. Just my opinion.

  • Read all the posts, it was a prototype. I just wanted to see if I could do it all in one trip. This unit was NOT designed to play in a living room, or a small basement. I have PLENTY of other systems I could use if I needed to. This was EXTRA stuff I had laying around. It wasn't about saving time, it was about keeping every wire, speaker, and light in one box so that it is ready to go at any time.

  • FUCKING AUSOME gigrigg 600 POUND 802 BEAST XD "HELLO HOW ARE YOU?" ELO -_-

  • Not too bad. Thanks for the comments. New videos will be out soon.

  • Very interesting layout. That's pretty cool. I would be a little hesitant to place the light and speakers in an oval frame of that sort, but I'm pretty sure you did the precise calculations, measurements, and what not, to allow those structures their maximum support. This is pretty original IMO. Thanks for sharing. Gettin' an idea. LOL

  • i am a dj with a

hugh probblem my rig cannot support the lights i want to put on it. did u make that truss yourself could u send me plans

? or let me know where you got it!

    thanks so much

    cool lights pro dj

  • Pretty good idea, not quite my thing, but each of us customizes to what fits what we do :) You may have already thought of this, but you should look into replacing those par cans with LED pars, maybe the Chauvet Jrs, a lot less power draw, and a lot less heat in your rig. A good rugged paint job on the rig, either white or black would look nice too. I know it can be a money thing though... lots of things on my todo list that are not done, due to lack of funds as of yet. Good vid :)

  • Awesome... if anything.. it would be a cool case mod.. next to my bbq!

Really is a good idea. Thanks for the vid!

  • It'd be interesting to see that thing fall flat over.

  • I agree, it would be interesting, but because the center of gravity is MUCH lower than most of the common ladder trusses that are held up by 2 telescoping tripods, that are almost always overloaded... I doubt your sadistic desires will ever happen with my setup. But thanks for being a dick!

  • Best reply to a comment ever?

  • Absolutely not! Lauren is the true dick.

  • That is funny! Cuz that is exactly what my friends keep telling me! Fuerte is pissy cuz I didn't keep HIS nasty cheap shot posts on MY channel. To each is own, and it takes one to know one.

  • were is the fun in that

i do lights because i love seting up and programing you've done away with all of that yes its fast but not fun

by the way i love bose speakers there amasing but nothing beats a good set of H.K.s :D

  • I personally Cant stand Bose I think the sound is very flatt. but for small gigs they work great. I like the setup. I think it would be great for Large parties. Some LED's would look great. I am facinated with this video everytime I see it. To think everything is in one load. Great Video. I hope to see more from you guys!!!

  • Thanks! Did you see the pic compelation? It has a bunch of pics during the build in progress. The video is on my channel. I hope to have another video up soon.

  • What do you mean by kick ass light show? All I see is several pars, strobes, and some derbys. Not to mention, what is the quality of the equipment you are using, the bose live sound quality sucks, but what are you running through it? I do think thats a great idea don't get me wrong, but it looks a but lacking in presentation.

  • You are ALMOST exactly right. This was an idea I had to use a bunch of OLD .... EXTRA equipment I had laying around. I thought I had mentioned that in my descriptions. Yes it is very basic, and if I had a fatter check book, it would be loaded with LEDS and the such. And as for those Bose, that is a seperate debate. So maybe you will like the next one better. What would you do different that hasn't already been mentioned here or in DJ chat? All input is welcome.

  • Well I would use a better mixer, Definetly not LEDs as the the technology is still developing ,and most everything on the market today is overpriced, No pars on the table, LED pars, intelegent lighting (Scanners/Moonflowers)

Maybe JBL speakers, Using vertical support instead of those support bars for the lighting that look a bit odd, and maybe black. Plus to add on to for bigger gigs you really have little options.

  • Wow. I've never seen that before..I'm jealous! :)

  • if he paints it black it will wear off from show to show it looks kick ass the way it dose

  • thanks.. i am glad someone finally sees my point... the next one will be powder coated

  • nice build.

Wouldn't it be more discrete for the public if you paint the framework Black ?

    great job.

  • lol.. and arggggg... that is the most popular comment. I am building a second one that will be powder coated black. I didn't want to just spray paint it ... as I feared it would look worse all scratched up. Thanks For the post!

  • want to see if you will look at our setup and see what you think

  • I love what you have done with the Bose. I have 2 sets myself. One set is permanently mounted in the GigRigg, but I am considering taking them out for the next one. Send me those dimensions if you wanna. I will be posting a new vid soon I hope, kids, job, etc keepn me bizzy.

  • good!!!!!!!!

    super!!!!

  • great!what happens if ur gig is up stairs?

  • Pretty cool..how much does it weigh?

  • This version weighs too much to be practical. I would guess it weighs about 600 pounds. The revised one I am building now will not have the speakers or amps mounted in it, which should free up some weight. Thanks for your interest.

  • god daem ultamate trust fucking ausome gigrigg my favorite pro 802's allready mounted inside the best mids to me.fucking sick wish trusts were made to buy like this. PLEASE SHOW THE WHOLE REVISED ONE VIDEO gigrigg

  • Wow, I have a BBQ pit on wheels that weighs 600lbs so I know first hand how heavy that is to roll...Nice work...Glad to see you took action to come up with a solution that we are all looking for.

  • what is that?!?!?

  • ummm.. how much of the videos did you watch?

What does it look like youngn?

  • ummm...I think he watched just enough to become confused. ummm...what doyou think?

  • While I holeheartedly embrace the idea of a 10 minute setup, I don't think this type of setup would cut it around here. My larger setups take in excess of 3 hours. I actually worked for another DJ when I was first starting out, that had a system that was very plug and playish. The console was about the size of an ACTUAL coffin, and weighed in at over 500 pounds. The light show was made from PVC. JEEZ. I didn't work for him very long...Does that thing get DirectTV?

  • Its a project I have been having loads of fun with. It has kinda worked out better for a "rental" item. A few local guys here have taken it out for some gigs, using thier own coffins sitting on top. They loved it. You can consider it a docking station for your ipod for all I care. It isnt for everyone agreed. But its tidy and big.lol

  • Nice innovation!

  • THANX! I am having fun with it! Can't wait to see how it does tonight for an after prom karaoke show...

  • Some doors are smaller than that, like a home. Ceiling is some places are low and space is a consideration as well.

I think that would be good at a Carnival

  • It opens up to go thru narrower doors, and the tops can be lowered or raised. But thanks for your in put.

  • Hey evildjman do you a video of your setup?

    Just curious.

  • NO TURN TABLES???????

  • OH Duuuude.. I WISH! My buddy has a set of Pioneers in a case that we sit on top of the controls. There are 2 aluminum rails that it sits on.

I want a set in a bad way, but my Christmas list is larger than my bank account. And I am loading up on LEDs to put in the next one. This was just a bunch of extra equipment I had laying around.

  • Where did you get the stand?

  • like the idear of the stand ..

  • that is beyond bad ass

  • No matter what they say it took a lot of planning and work to make your gig rigg.

I agree with you there are brides out there who want great sound and a great light show.

Let me know when you make your smaller gig rigg. A+ for your effort and design.

  • Hey thanks! I appreciate your comment. The gigrigg is working very well for me. The best part of the project is the fact that I dont spend any time hunting down wires or misc pieces to do a gig. I know where EVERYTHING is, and that it is ready to go. Sure it is cumbersome to move, but I used to use a set of PEAVEY dual 18 inch bass bins that were just as much of a PITA to lug around, and go upstairs with. Once again, thanks for the props!

  • You're right. There are brides who want great sound and a great light show and unfortunately yet get neither with this rig, at least not for the purpose it was designed for. Maybe it would work for a rock band. I am only negative because a lot of DJs are going to see something like this and think it is cool to be able to setup so quickly. But I am saying there are other ways to cut down on time all the while IMPROVING sound, light, and appearance. It was a valiant effort and I applaud his work.

  • I havn't been able to see your set up yet. I am almost thinkn that you use one similar to Rendezvous in New Zealand or where ever. It is NOT a matter of YOUR taste... quit being a damn snob. I happen to have a "quaint" set up I can use for golf courses and posh venues as well.

YOU DON'T CHOOSE YOUR MARKET... Your market chooses you. My customers are fully aware of what they will be getting while they are writing me a check.

Sigh..I wish I could go on. But I am out of spa

  • I really like the idea of that but i think no matter how you try one solid frame will not work you will eventually get gigs that go upstairs or you will have to fit into a tight corner or bad space. separate modules may work better eg left side light n sound right l n s and mid control. still add chain system to bring all parts in at once 1 person 10 min 5 cables not going to be that bad is it

  • I have thought about that as well. The GigRigg actualy comes apart into 3 seperate pieces. I pre wired the top light pods to detatch in the event my full size van broke down and I would have to use my mini van to get the thing to a gig 2 trips. I know everyone boo hoos about stairs... but honestly it hasnt been a problem yet. I am trying to find time to do a video with a "stair issue" but I just havnt run into one. If I do, I will post a video showing how the GigRigg slides apart. Thanks!

  • asda needs you as trolley maintenance

  • whats asda?

  • a british walmart,we have shopping trolleys and they are hard work, needs someone of your talent and experience to fix that

  • Firstly, congratulations on a unique innovation.

My constructive criticism would be to paint the rig a more subtle black and to use lighweight LED lighting effects to help with the lopsided outrigger.

Richard wouldn't want the elegant rooms he works in to be overshadowed by a stand out rig. His subtle, quality kit has the effect of focussing the punters attention on him and his presentation, rather than his equipment. I guess it works for him, sometimes less IS more :-).

    Good luck,

    Clive.

  • Hi it's a very good idea but theres only one thing i didnt like about that video and thats the way that you just yanked it through the door why not just open the other door ?

  • LOL .. well.. I guess there is a couple reasons. Mainly cuz I was freezing my butt off on a cold Ohio Sunday morning in a hurry. The second and most important reason is because the other door didn't open like you think. It still had a partition. The second set of doors on the inside did not... and I made sure those were open. Thanks for your post.

  • ok but why not open it up then put it in the door then close it up again

  • Simple... I was in a hurry... I am sorry I upset you... it won't happen again.

  • Three words: 1. patent 2. this 3. now. Great job!

  • The Paperwork HAS been submitted. Lawyers are paid.

  • wow, very innovative and there must have been long hours designing and building. Awesome!

  • Looks a bit shakey... but hey, it's a prototype! .... Th emarket needs more innovative people like you!!

Hope you never have to go up stairs!

What if you book a gig without lights?

  • Woo! hahah this is crazy.

    Pretty cool though!

And oh my god, I've wanted a pair of those Bose speakers for years haha!

    Pretty sweet set-up! :]

  • No need to shut up Arnold, most of my replies have been deleted.

I stand by my opinion- this isn't an elegant DJ set-up. A cool engineering feat and a novel idea however.

  • Some of your comments were deleted yes. But only because they were redundant. I left your critical remark posted. BTW.I did another bridal show with the GigRigg last Sunday along with our old truss system right beside it (video to come). I booked SIX more weddings at that one. So as I stated before, your comments are duly noted, but ultimately the brides will decide if this is what they want.

  • For the record: I visited this posters (rendezvousdisco) website and found him to be from New Zealand. He uses TWO low end lights, and an "all inclusive" custom built booth as well. (Which leads me to believe his comments may have undertones of envy). He claims to charge $1500.00 and up for his shows. (He must bring along a well hung DONKEY for that price). Thanks to all the positive posters who "get it". P-R-O-T-O-T-Y-P-E

  • its a good idea for sure. set up in 10 minutes. but to be honest, i agree that for a wedding it isnt elegant enough. im sry, i know you put a ton of work in this but there is need for some improvement. the light stands arent sturdy enough and make it look a little sloppy. awesome idea. ur definitely an innovator. maybe you can make a solid prototype and release as an all in one dj in a box. Man if people only knew the truth about bose...

  • what a great idea! i would not like to see what happens if you had to unload in the rain though! i think the only way you would have pulled this off is with those bose speakers, expensive but nice

  • I agree with you about the Bose. They make it happen for sure. I could have used speaker cabinets, and just filled the thing with lights. But had a goal when I started the project. 1 trip, 1 person, 1 cord, 10 Minutes. (I am very close). Thanks for your comment. I am working on a smaller, lighter, less cumbersome version for smaller gigs.

  • I Think you're onto something here.

The section on the right looks a little crooked though.

  • I'm not too much into lights at this point, although I do have a couple and love the effects they provide, right now i'm pretty much into the sound of my system. However, the crowd do not see of our gear what another dj would, that is why Rendezvous Disco kept voicing his opinion of it. The way I see it, shit if it works, use it. In fact, at time I use home theacter reciever with its surround sound for small indoor gigs. It works, so I use it. Out doors, I use a peavey M-2600.

  • How do you do with stairs?!?

  • Oh PLEASE tell me that you wouldn't take this to a real wedding!!! Dignified, romantic, elegant, beautiful? Not one bit!

  • Now that was a comment I wasn't expecting! I assure you that I perform a VERY elegant show. Where I come from.... WE PARTY AT OUR WEDDING RECEPTIONS. And the cheesy DJ wearing the same tattered Tuxedo he wears every weekend, setting up on an 8 foot table, with a couple of radio shack strobe lights won't cut it where I am from.

  • this is true, your setup looks like the real deal. next you should add some spots and lasers and colorwash maybe

  • Shut up richard

  • Pretty inovative. Looks like it would be a pain if he had to gou upstairs.

  • Wow that's a pretty crazy set-up!
