My wife and I had this song played by the Pat Terry Group (recording) on 6/4/77. We're grateful to still be together and this song by Alan Jackson was discovered by searching by Pat Terry after all these years. We took our youth group in 1976 to hear Pat Terry in Miami. Man, I'm gettin' old! Jesus is Lord and Saviour and God bless every marriage blessed by Him for Christ's glory!
"That's The Way" was written and originally sung by "The Pat Terry Group" in the late 70's/early 80's. Look up the Pat Terry Group and you'll find it. It's about being married in the name of Jesus ("in the shadow of the cross on bended knee"). :)
I had this very sing at my wedding in 1987. Had heard it as a teenager on a Pat Terry cassette, and said I would have it at my wedding someday. Alan does it beautifully here, and their marriage certainly appears to reflect it. I found Pat Terry gospel music on YouTube, which was on the cassette, but can't find this particular song . Incredible song!
Been looking for this old Pat Terry song for quite some time... never knew Alan Jackson did it until now..... a friend sang this at my wedding in May, 1978! Great song then, and still is!
Some time ago a friend has told me about Alan Jackson. Alan Jackson is incredibly ... what a wonderful present God has given to this man ... and withit also to us. This voice, the art to find the right words and this music. The feelings he expresses in his songs. There are many singers and musicians, also very good, but how many of them are able to touch our hearts like Alan Jackson? Many thanks Alan Jackson for these wonderful songs! And thank you John that you have told me about him ...Hug you
faith170160 I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you know nothing about misic. I'm a country boy take's three verses to say he has a truck. He is cruel in i'm married to you and don't even know your name. God did'nt send allan jackson.John is an idiot. Listen to Biff the friendly purple bear.
Ready the Book by Denisa Jackson It;s all about him, Loughted cryed, enjoyed it so much, Thank you for sharing it with us. We are living on bended knees to the Lord, My husband is an Elder for the Lord. Love the song It's all about him and that the way, Thank you Denisa Jackson for sharing and thank you for the song's Alan Jackson, I am also glade you made the cd Precious Memories. We sing with it on our way to church. Thank you.
I fell in love w/ this song the first time I ever listened to it, and the fact that AJ has recorded it makes me love it all the more. I have chosen to have this song played at my upcomming wedding on 9/12/09. I hope that we can have the longevity that Alan and his wife Denise have.
Can anyone tell me how to find this song to download....or how to save the sound of this file....trying to make a video montauge and this is the perfect song?
thank you so much for posting this on youtube, i have to sing this song for a wedding in a week, and i couldnt find a copy of this song anywhere! not even on i Tunes!
We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary on May 12th. My beautiful bride came down the aisle at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa, CA, as Tommy Coomes, of Love Song sang this great Pat Terry song. Mike and Aloha Grant, Las Vegas, NV

I had this song sang at my wedding 30 years ago. I had no idea Alan Jackson had re-recorded it.
I have The Pat Terry Group's album this song is on. Found it several years ago through an online auction. But, pulling out the old record player isn't something I do often. I will have to buy the book just for this CD.
Thanks so much for posting.....was great to hear it again.
This was my parents' wedding song (as well as my uncle's, and my cousin's) and I love it! I fully plan for it to be my wedding song as well someday. I, too, plan to buy the book just for the CD of Alan Jackson's cover. Simply one of the most beautiful wedding songs of all time.

Don't suppose you know where to get the original Pat Terry version? It's possibly the hardest song out there to find...
This is great though! Thanks for posting!
