There are too many possible answers to that question to tell you something definitive over the internet. Anything from the bow to the strings to the instrument to your technique could be to blame, or some combination of those. I'd suggest finding someone who plays fiddle or violin (it doesn't even have to be a teacher, just a player) and play for them. They'll probably be able to spot the reason very quickly.
