  • reminds me of my childhood back in the day :)

  • This song summed up the mood of the early 1980's - they should re-issue it now with the way things are now!

  • Too much dancing on the fight floor. Tsk. A classic.

  • :17 whoops sorry mate!

  • one of the great tunes of the 80s. No tune at the time captured the social upheaval that was happenning up and down the country better than this. And you still had the Royal Wedding! (Charles and Diana, 1981)

  • Why cant ppl just enjoy music anymore?

  • stupid lip-sync show.

  • How apt!

  • This was the soundtrack for Brixton and Toxteth. Even Blackbird Leys in ooh so posh Oxford. There were riots. Where was Cameron then? He's not so much younger than me that he can't mind the riots.

  • with the tories and thatchers children in don't you feel that we are living this song again

  • @pedro19611969 Yes - for sure and it sucks.

  • @Kaisergill your right bout torries as im out of work again , but the music today is crap mostly!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Kaisergill dont be so fucking childishly stupid.it wasthe hated fuckin blair and brown who got us in this mire.i've no time for the tories, but its about time naieve arseholes like you who got to grips with yourselves.as a matter of fact the labour party got handed a good economy unlike the government present.funny how its never mentioned it was a global recession then as now.

  • @oneeyefsh It's not about tories or labor, democrats or republicans my friend. It is about oligarchy. Those who have and those do not. And let me tell you, unless your bank account is holding somewhere on the order of 9 figures, you are a have not. Cheers from across the pond.

  • @mikethaironlung I agree with you there. But what annoys me is clowns like Kaisergill have this blind loyalty to the likes of the labour party who have more than an obvious contempt for the people. No other party has betrayed the working class or the whole of Britain more than them.Theres a lot of angry people in Britain.Sorry for rattling on but theres really so much so much to be dissatisfied with.

  • @oneeyefsh Honestly, and I never really thought I would feel this way, I believe third-party candidates in both of our countries, candidates with the people's interests in mind, are the only chance democracy has at this point. And no need to apologize my friend, Kaisergill is a nut and I agree the Labor party has NOT lived up to it's namesake in respecting the working class in your country. Again, cheers from across the pond!

  • fuck yeah, real ska

  • playback not live... but great song

  • That beginning thing "are you sitting...?" is that from that Bonzo Dog Band video?????

  • Stanley Unwin narrated 'Ogdens Nut Gone Flake' by The Small Faces. When Steve Mariot died the BBC did a tribute and Stan the man was invited to narrate, that's where I got the clip.

  • I was just listening to the Small faces last night, that guy narrates a lot of their more experimental songs(Happiness Stan, The Journey, etc), never knew who it was until just their though.

  • @artrock3d That's odd. I was living in Voventry England when Marriot died and I don't remember that "Special" at all.

  • @iron48 no from the small faces album old ogdens nutflake

  • snatch

  • I have a brother whos 53. He had all this stuff playing constantly. Its part of my DNA now..he he!

  • 20 years ago when you were 20, What 1988? Didnt you listen to The Specials when they were around, in 79/80?

  • Wow been listening to the Specials since I was 20 or so (20 yrs ago) but never thought to look em up...God bless youtube for showing me these guys lay down "Ghost Town" and "Stereotypes"!!!

  • Right on brother, Peace

  • We danced and sang,

And the music played inna de boomtown

This town, is coming like a ghost town

Why must the youth fight against themselves?

Government leaving the youth on the shelf

This place, is coming like a ghost town

No job to be found in this country

    Can't go on no more

    The people getting angry

  • you was there.....thank you :)

  • never was there a more relevant song for today

  • Unfortunately true.

  • @andytoka1 YOU WANT TO LOOK AT MARGATE, IT IS A GHOST TOWN, GONE ARE THE THOSE YEARS, WHERE THETHANET COUNCIL LOST INTEREST. A REAL BIG SHAME....

  • @andytoka1 sad but true

  • @emmetfox it seems we dont learn from the past, and yes, this song is relevant today just as much as it was yesterday..social issues have changed in as far as tolerance to others by way of race and gender, but, the underlying messsage still smax of the same unhappiness of the surrounding factors> x

  • This town, is coming like a ghost town

All the clubs have been closed down

This place, is coming like a ghost town

    Bands won't play no more

too much fighting on the dance floor

Do you remember the good old days

    Before the ghost town?
