  • i walked around the whole town looking at damage

  • 1:50 that was my favorite drive in theatre and they destroyed it after the tornadoe...awesome video except the only thing u forgot was the car the got launched acros theparking lot onto to another car

  • My father took a rare color home movie in 1953, after a tornado hit Worcester, MA. I put it on youtube. You took some great footage after the tornado hit your area too!

  • we used same radio same day we live over near the tracks

  • I love how these guys are literally saying the tornado will come down on top of them and they're still outside video taping. True Nebraskans right there

  • this day was fun for me

  • I live in Fort Worth, but this aftermath looks like a strong storm with straight line winds we had a couple years ago. There were huge trees down, power lines, fast food restaurant signs busted out, dead birdies all over the sidewalks/roads, fences collapsed, even ours, and we saw trampolines in trees. It was crazy.

  • i hated this day so much

  • was that noise warning sounds?

  • OMG! Those pictures really make me sad! poor kearney!

  • i love ne

  • I was in Ireland...but, this is my home town.

My house and car were fine.

    lol

  • I am going through Nebraska in June does this happen often and could my car end up flying away? How much danger am I in in Nebraska?

  • Nebraska is a big place. Even if there is a tornado it would probably not come anywhere near you.

  • My Nephew lives in Kearney, he sent me this to let me see the extent of damages on that day! That is creepy.

  • i was at my aunt house at the time right down the street from dryden and was the only house undamaged and i almost got hit by a flying tree limb

  • Yeah, we chased that storm. Some storm. Saw 7-8 semis overturned, metal scrap everywhere near the interstate, tree limbs blown left and right and several powerflashes.

  • I love the way you put this video together with the shot of the emergency radio in the basement in the dark, the sounds of the warnings, etc. You really captured the way that night felt. It was scary as hell. No cell service, no television, no power... did I mention it was scary as hell?

  • Thanks for posting this video. I grew up within 2 blocks of Dryden Park and am horrified to see the extent of the damage.

  • i was working at the 25th street taco johns at the time, when we lost power, we were standing in the lobby eating tacos

  • You got some great shots of that storm! very creepy looking stuff!!

  • what a mess!

  • This stuff was scary.

  • WOW, I grew up there and got some videos of the storm chase from another guy that I grew up with there. I hadnt seen the damage. That is incredible. What other areas were damaged? Post more footage of the damage if you have it.

  • Check my video response for a few more shots of damage.

  • All I have to say is.. Holy shit.

  • dude there were 50 tornadoes at least i live in Lincoln and i was shitting my pants

  • not quite 50....but yeah there were a lot. in kearney there were only 2 but they each touched down multiple times.

  • wish i had my camera on me, cause we saw the tornado that decimated the fairgrounds and the airport when we were released from chief. it was fuckin huge and right over i-80

  • that's very sad but also terrifying.

  • Awesome.. thanks for the vid!

  • Just a quick question...Is there a way I could get a copy of this on DVD?

  • tubesucker and then convert to avi

Or get FRAPS and maximize the screen and turn on FRAPS. But to record a long time in fraps you must have a registered version

  • I've been trying to find some good footage to send to my daughter in Tuscon . This rocks. Thanks much for this post

  • whenever i hear those sirins i about cry cuz im sooo scared. i live here in kearney and i was sooo lucky becuz right when the sirins went on i just got outa the shower.

  • federal signal 2t22

  • Thank you for posting this. We were hiding out in a storage closet at Old Chicago in Kearney during this. Pretty scary when we started getting reports that one was on the ground and one "just outside." Does anyone know how many tornadoes there actually were? The paper said "4 to 6," but the Weather Channel said 2...although I believe the people I was around saw more than that even from our view. I wonder if some of the funnel clouds weren't actually classified as tornadoes?

  • was referring to luihipizza2's comment

  • That's crazy shit!! Really erry too!!

  • Two were an F3 and one was an F1

  • My Former Town...

  • whats that supposed to mean? the dots?

  • sweet. my brother got some footage from the Good Sam ICU window.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I can send it on to my family and friends so that they can see what I was talking about from my basement.

  • I worked at NTV during this and let me tell you it was c r a z y! never seen such chaos in a newsroom before...

  • The unearthed trees are just freaky. Soft ground from all the rain, I'm guessing, is partly to blame.

  • Awesome job. I watched that wall cloud about 20 minutes prior when it was going over my house. It looked bad then and I was thinking that a tornado was going to drop any moment... but the video and the way you put it together is awesome

  • oh how sad it is :((( i was in kearney. i used to study at UNK, and i moved out Kearney 4 month ago to Omaha. ohh my little town ((

  • nice footage man, i was downtown when this storm hit and i went into the basement, it was real bad, haha never thought this would hit kearney

  • whoa that looks real bad those trees were fully grown and they got broke in half like toothpicks

  • I used to live in kearny!

  • Does anyone know how the lighthouse in Harmon park is? Are the fairgrounds really bad aside from the expo?

    Thanks

    Erin

  • When I was at Harmon this afternoon they were working on the northeastern part of the park and I couldn't get through to where the lighthouse is. But the fairgrounds looked fine except for the expo center.

  • Lighthouse is fine. Only the expo building was hit.

  • Thank you!

    Erin

  • Man, I should have been there, I live in Grand Island.

    Great video!

  • Great video man! I live at 18th & C and I had some trees and branches down around me but no damage to my place. It was a pretty intense afternoon. I've never seen the sky so green in my life.

  • thanks for posting that, I live in Omaha but have gone to UNK the past two years and it has become my new home. I was in Omaha and missed it but I am amazed at the damage caused by this thing. The fairgrounds got rocked from what I can see and it will take a long time to clean up...just like when the ice storm hit.

  • Unbelievable! The Fairgrounds got smoked! Thanks for the video, I live in KC and actually use to work for the Park & Rec department in Kearney, maintaining Dryden Park in the summers. Would hate to have to clean up that mess!

  • I live in Shawnee (which is near Kansas City) and I was nearly hit by a tornado at my house. That was on May 1st, and I was worried as HELL.

And I'm still worried because there could be another tornado.

  • Thanks for posting that - so sad to see all of the trees down in the park. Trees that size won't be grown in our life time.

  • Damn...thanks for the footage man...appreciate that.
