All you fucking hipsters need to shut up. Nobody cares what age you are, the only thing which matters here is whether you actually like this or not. -.-'
I feel like crying right now.... I was born soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Late!
@reLIEablity Don't get too discouraged. There was also mindless crap being produced in 1979, and there is evocative, stirring, challenging, inventive, real human music being created today. It's easy to feel that isn't the case when we're being bombarded by manufactured white-noise. But I tend to think that as time passes, it's art like Joy Division that generally survives to retain any real relevance. 30 years from now, I doubt Kesha and the Black Eyed Peas will be considered classics.
CLASSIC........first song i learned to play...in bedroom.....alone.....bottle of perno...15 yrs old.....1985......next song was sunrise.....what a find....saved my life. fucked my career prospects. forever grateful. help me some body help me. too late! GENIUS!!!.
This has got to be one of their best songs from Unknown Pleasures, also one of the best albums I've ever had the chance to indulge in. RIP Ian Curtis. <3
To me this song encompasses the entire darness that was Joy Division, the lyrics are monumental, disturbing..Obviously influenced by Curtis' reading of the genocide of the Cathars by the Catholic Church.... very moving
@NightmareGanon No, you're not the only one. Consider not only JD, but Magazine, Simple Minds, etc. But I think it also had to do with a different approach being taken to producing records. There was separation between the instruments. You could actually *hear* the bass.
@NightmareGanon Have you ever heard some jazz or fusion or funk? I think no xD However you're right, post punk is really cool especially if you play bass B)
What I love about Curtis is that only he(or maybe thom yorke) knows when an arrangement almost always meant for a chorus or bridge will work well as the main part of the song. When I hear how the music goes, I always think it sounds like it's supposed to come after something.
This may in fact be the most depressing band ever.

Am I the only one who thinks the post-punk was the epitome of epic basslines?
NightmareGanon 1 year ago 144
@NightmareGanon this wasn't post punk, this was punk. Punk was about being expressive so this fits into that gendre.
Rudimcd63 1 year ago
@Rudimcd63 Uhhh...isn't all music about being expressive/ expressing something? I guess I could put 19th century opera in the punk category too.
Idiot.
