I love Ralph into this, he is the best. The pain and hate reflecting from him are just beyond anything, still the deep haunting love who tortured him his whole life, he does bring everything over as it should. Oh yea I do have a soft spot for Heathcliff, and only Fiennes is my Heathcliff, he fitted best !
oh gosh... :'(( When my teacher told me to read the book back in 2002 i fhought first that a dramatic love story as old as that was probably not going to be this "interesting." Besides, the language used in this story is extremely high leveled - back then I was a FCE student, so, this book was rather a challenge. I bought it, sat down one quiet evening and started to read it. And I couldn't stop. And in the end I discovered myself crying heavily as If I had witnessed the whole story LIVE.
I agree with Picardy. No one will ever be able to top Timothy Dalton as Heathcliff. His passion and angst has only been topped by Richard Armitage in N&S.
@ladyjj09 I agree! I'm assuming you mean Erik "The Phantom of the Opera", another fave character to of mine! These two tragic love stories are my favorite!
Ralph Fiennes plays the best Heathcliff I've ever seen. Only he can capture the emotion that Heathcliff is supposed to. His eyes alone show the turmoil and passion he felt. This is by far his best role he's done.
@disasterpieceo0 They met as children and grew up together. In the scene you refer to while she lay dying he wasn't allowed to see her but he persisted.
Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche are best actors!!!!!!!!!

This movie suffered from bad wigs and no chemistry between the lead actors. The one with Timothy Dalton is much better.

Tom Hardy is better aye.

This is one of the most touching and beautiful lines I've ever heard.
Ralph utterly haunts me with his astonishing talent and charming personality.

i love Heathcliff and Erik. how unfortunate that both of the women they loved were stupid enough to leave them behind.
