Canadian Pontiacs had Chevrolet engines. The body outer sheet metal looked like a Pontiac but the underbody and frame were Chevrolet. GM produced the 283 from 1957 until 1967. It was replaced by the 307 in '68
283 was Chevy only. I had the same car in 64, except yellow and black. 283 standard V8. That's probably the original as Chevy ceased making the 283 sometime in the mid 60's, possibly 65.
youll be lucky if you get 6.5 for that car, cont get me wrong i love the impala but for 20 grand i can get a bucket and create a beast with it

that doesnt look like a pontiac engine to me.. pontiac never built a 283 they built a 326, 389, 400, 421, 428, 455

Engine swaps between cars were COMMON in those days.
