  • A video of the RNLI D class Lifeboat in action. It is a rib boat which can be righted if it overturns.

1 saftypin it isnt a D Class its the new (IB1)

2 It isnt a self righting boat you need reright is as you would have a D Class, RYA 2 COURSE POOL TRUST ME.

  • It's still a D class. The current D's are the IB1 model as opposed to the EA16 which was the wooden transom version with the 40 hp on it as before.

D class (IB!) helm - trust ME!!!!

  • Rob the hull is completely different nothing like a Dclass, the kevlar has made sure of that, and they call it an ib1 not a D class

  • Sorry, but wrong. The previous D class was the EA16. This was the one with the 40hp Mariner, wooden transom & floor, canopy with the strongback and the anchor box and radio under. Still in service at many stations and used at the college. These are being replaced by the new D Class, the IB1. The material is different but still simaler to Hypalon. It has a rigid pod up front, a composite transom & floor & a 50hp Tohatsu. But it's still a D class . Like the Atlantic 85 is still a B class.

  • Actually there's more than one boat in the vid. The external shots are of a late model EA16 with the Mariner 40. Identical to the orange and grey boats only pure orange! But the shots inside are in an IB1 with half the pod missing - no vhf or GPS. Development boat maybe?

  • The D Class is not a rib it has an inflatable keel!
