DSM's are always in need of repair, not because they suck, but because they are usually old and beaten on like hell. Compared to HONDUHS which are typically riced out more than they are tuned....

The DSM's that are beaten run, they run until they blow up. Honda's are often equipped with a muffler and a hackjob pvc intake. My DSM has outlasted my girlfriends Accord at 230,000 miles I beat on the car frequently and it still runs I do not have to repair the car frequently. whereas on my girlfriends Accord the crankshaft bearings went out before 220,000. Try boosting a civic and beating on it and seeing what you need to repair. Try new rings every 30,000 miles built for boost.

I drive a honda.. well an acura really. But I still don't understand why everybody says DSMs kill hondas..? It's all about how it's built, there are plenty of ten second hondas just like there are plenty of ten second DSMs. However, neither of them are very common.. Quit bashing on Hondas as a whole!

dsms do kill hondas.. even a built type r civic my buddy has lost to my other buddy's stock 90 front wheeler pushing 12 psi on a small ass 14b.. no other mods either just 4 more pounds of boost on a small ass turbo.. stock vs stock dsm owns honda.. built it takes way more money to make a honda be able to compete with a dsm

well if you wanna talk money then the honda motor is gonna be much less expensive down the road because of how much money youll be spending to fix that DSM lol..but i dont think a fully built type r thats boosted would only push 8 psi.. if it's fully built it's meant to handle the more horsepower. it don't matter though, I don't have a problem with dsm's at all, I love the 4G63, I only dislike the dsm owners that bash others because of it

minimal upgrades are needed to the 63 to make it much faster is what im saying... my car 96 fwd galant with the 4g64 with the 63 head and a lil 14b ran a 12.5 in the quater, that was only around 1200 bucks in upgrades(car was sold new 1 now) .. dsms break cuz young kids around my age and younger get them and dont know how to take care of a car and only try to go fast on all stock 10+ year old parts.. i hate hondas not cuz they are slow but cuz every honda owner thinks they are race car drivers

that's true that the upgrades are minimal but still, it's not like it's impossible to make a honda fast. 1200 bucks in upgrades on a b-series platform can go fairly far as well, it's not impossible to make it fast. and you're right about the people that push the limit on old parts and cause em to break but that's not the only reason, they just aren't the most reliable engine in most cases. and the race car drivers part is just stereotypical, only the ricers are like that nowadays.

Actually the stock 6 bolt CAN handle 500 ponies daily on a good tune. I know 3 that have been running stock internals around the 500 mark for about 1-2 years with zero issues minus a couple clutches and broken rear end. The tranny is the real weak link as anything over 300, really tears it up... which is where Sheps rebuild is a life saver and worth every penny IMO.
