I replaced mine a year ago because the hot water and pressure dropped in my shower. This fixed it. I've heard that kohler will warranty these for life and swap them out free, though I can't confirm this. Our shower has started to act up again with the hot water being sporadic in temperature and going down after a few minutes even when the rest of the house is fine. So I think it's broken again after a year, which is ridiculous.
@emerickscott Great point that "kohler will warranty these for life and swap them out free." @JMeBo noted getting four shipped to him free by Kohler, so definitely worth calling them first.
Hello i have a problem with the bathtub water and handsink ...that water only flowing on the bathtub and not handsink what do i need to do to get the water pressure going back to the handsink thanks
@vibrantjourney Hey thanks yes i got it settled 2 months ago. Turned out it was all the sediments that got stuck in the nozzle. When i shut the water off and turned it back on all these sediments came out thats why. thanks again.
Thanks for the video, i am using the same brand in my 20 stories building. My problem is i am not getting any cold water in the shower, spout, sink and toilet. When I remove shower control, mixing valve and pressure balance and then open the shut off valve for cold water, lot of cold water comes but as soon as I put back everything, i loose cold water. Please help.
Thanks for the video. Plumber just left after telling us our cartridge needed replaced and he'd have to order the parts. (we need this done on 4 faucets!). He said he'd come back and replace them for $260, plus the cost of parts. So we called the 1-800-4KOHLER, described which cartridge we needed and they are sending us 4 of them via fed ex at no charge!! No questions asked! Now we can do it ourselves when they arrive! Thanks!!!
@virtuallaurie Sorry so late, I'm no expert but based on what happened to me it seems a replacement. Just an unknowledgeable guess. Hope you already had this taken care of.
@Adrianfoxy22 Not seeing this until a few weeks later, hope you got this taken care of. I'm sure you found another video or a plumber to help you out.
Hi I like your video. I think I want to change my cartridge because the water on my shower doesn't get past warm. It used get really hot not long ago and I thought might be my water heater but the water is 145 degrees and hot enough. So I think just changing the cartridge should do the trick. Let me know if you think that is what I should do.
Leaky shower. Made special trip to Fl. Your video gave me the confidence.-and I did it following your instruction. Replacing the cartridge was the easiest way to go. Can't thank you enough.
Thanks for the how-to video! A recent change has been made by Kohler for this model #K304 valve: The new part number for the cartridge is "GP77759" which superceeds the K77759 number.
My Kohler shower faucet has a lever without a pop-off cap; I had to figure out how to remove it. The Kohler website and forums are really unhelpful! Here's how I did it: Remove the screws holding the wall cap; wiggle the cap off. Hold the faucet lever. Grab and twist the skirt under the lever and twist clockwise. If it's tight, try using a rubber jar opener to loosen it. If really tight, use a strap wrench. Spin the skirt clockwise until the lever is released. Proceed as in the video.
This is helpful, I tried to change washer and its won't stop leaking.
So, I got new Kohler pressure balancing valves part number GP50520 it cost me around $30 bucks from Kohler store in my town. Now it works perfect, no leaking. This might help you guys who is watching this video.
@tibvideo Both my showers just give hot water. Went all over town to find the Kohler part and found out it is the pressure balancing valve so back to the store tomorrow
