if your gonna buy a flip minon i suggest the mino hd because the regular mino is pretty much the same as the ultra. the ultra has better quality and the zoom is the same. hd wins though
just wht ever you do dnt use the flip software. It compreses it into a .wmv file which is lower quality, than the highest, which would be a .mpg. So just go out and buy video software and it will convert to anything.
just when the window pops up saying "what do you want to do with this device?" and it gives u like the Flip icon option, and explore option. Click on Explore and you will find all ur videos in one folder. THen A. drag the videos to a destinignated folder, then go to your program and explore that folder and select the videos you want or B. just drag and drop your videos. Once u are all done editing and what not when you go to "create a video file" or "save" u should b able to select the format.

I think the flip mino HD is better for the investment but that being said the flip mino is relatively cheap for such a good camera
