I was not much of a Springsteen fan before but this tribute to Joe really made me have more respect for him and also see the similarities I hadn't noticed before. WTF was Miami Steve doing up there though? Someone must've canceled last minute.
I agree...the only person Joe had anything remotely in common with on that stage is Costello...the rest may have been fans but that does not excuse this total mess...cos that's what it is...a mess
i don't know, maybe i'm crazy..but it would had been kinda cool if johnny rotten had singed it. I mean, he was an inspiration for joe strummer and he still sings casualy, maybe i'm wrong..correct me if you want
awful, shouldn't have been done really but I appreciate them wanting to show their respect for Strummer (despite him mocking Costello in one song) Dave Ghroll and the nobody from No Doubt have no place there however.
Very good video! Did you know that Squeeze, from the same era as Elvis Costello, is going to be touring North America in the Summer of 2007 and the UK later in 2007? Tickets for the North American dates are available on the Ticketmaster website.
Nice gesture but compared to the original these guys sound like a third rate garage band ("every draggin' beat.") Especially the vocal performance. While the performance was meant to be a tribute, it makes me realize what a great and energetic vocalist Joe was.
First off, it's the Grammys, not the "Grannys". Second, Joe was absolutely thrilled about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, so I highly doubt he'd have anything wrong with the Grammys.
I think Tony kanal had just learned how to play that song that day, he kind of missed the chords twice.

Tom Morello speach was fantastic, this cover, NOT SO MUCH.

Joe Strummer even made fun of Bruce Springstein one live performance with the clash.

Yankee accents just can't cut it now , why is London calling the only song that represents the clash, maybe it's coz it's radio friendly .
Cheers

This is sweet. It's not particularly good, but it's sweet just the same.
I'd actually like to hear Bruce do this acustic by himself. That might be interesting. This big bombastic thing isn't quite right.

Tribute to Strummer during the grannys ?
The grannys are a very good representation of everything Joe publically fought against during his entire career.
Musically, this is decent, however there is way more to this guy than just sound.
And sound is all there is here.

their version is on par with bobby fueler s one.
Would have been acceptable as a tribute for greenday.

Wonderful to see Bruce & Steven sharing the stage with Costello. The fact that Steven gets both solos seals the deal for me!
Great stuff!
