  • How could anyone dislike this jam??!!

  • Jesus?

  • He was one of a kind, and people of all ages dearly love his beautiful songs.

  • When this song came out I had just gone through a divorce at 25 and was in my first year of college so my life was riding high on so many possibilities and each day was full of new things and I was probably the happiest I had ever been in my life. Now some 34 plus years later it's as if I am in the same place again, having to start all over. I am not happy about the change, but I am hopeful and it is music like this that will help get me through this new phase of my life. Thanks you Paul!

  • I loved this song , it brings back such sweet memories of the early days of our marriage. PS..why do people find it necessary to comment about politics after a nice song like this? Enough already. What a bunch of mood-spoilers.

  • jumbo... jimmy carter was president when this song came out. ha ha ha.

  • Comment removed

  • Roxxy, you're right. Liberals are trashing this country. We're sinking fast and if Obama gets a second term, we're done.

  • @jumbo55ful Greed is ruining this country and all politicos share that blame.

  • Simpler times let you enjoy music more than today. And they told a story now who will be able to tell you where they were when they heard some so called songs today

  • THE WAY I ALWAYS DREAMED LOVE WOULD BE FOR ME SOMEDAY.

  • Roxxy are you kidding me...hahahah...you absolutely nailed the picture you painted of back in the day with this tune...

  • What a great song, just as "65 love affair" was...where did these talented singer/songwriters go?....reminds me of a time when if you worked hard you kept your job and wages where honest...you could afford a house and not be worried about layoffs, that if for no reason except that it catered to the stockholders......when both political parties worked together to make better living conditions for everyone....I miss a world like that, that once was, and I miss songs like this one!.....

  • top comments: lucky you were born and grew up with this, shame on me...........

  • From this music to Coolio and Eminem? Can the music get any worse than the crap of today?

  • Been too long since I last heard this....

  • Ten ppl who dont have a clue what good music is..

  • I remember this song driving around in my 1969 chevy impala with my girl Vicki. We married in 1979. I was too imature to hold on to her. We had two beautiful kids. I lost her in 1988 after a divorce. I will never forget her.

But I bet he did indeed live a "sweet life"....I loved this song back in the day, and still do.....

    R.I.P. Paul

  • Yes, he died in 2008 at age 60....sad.

  • The greats go way to soon. RIP Paul.

  • Every once in a while I find myself taking a trip down memory lane on Youtube and I came across this song. I was a kid in middle school when this came out and I didn't know too much about Paul Davis, but I've liked just about every song I've heard him sing. This is a beautiful song...Makes me think of my life with my husband and kids.

  • Paul davis died?

  • Reminds me of being a lil kid love it..the worlds so fucked now

  • this man made the songs that describe all a good person wants out of life... his songs are timeless and as long as there are ppl like you and me and everyone else on this page that know love is a wonderful thing, it will never die out..

  • @Sakkara1331 Yes, I agree. My generation is not this, perfection and real artists. I was born in '67 and my parents don't kwow the 70's artists I adore, such as Paul Davis. The words and music mean so much more and the artists meant what they sang. Now a days you know it is not the same passion and meaning with performers.

  • 10 people have a sour life

  • @67onetreehill Right on. 10 people are sour compared to our sweet life

  • I rollar skated to this song !!! WOW ! With 4 wheels on one foot - one squeaked, my foot had a middle toe that squeaked actually. What a wonderful memory with this song. This was same time when Star Wars came out and also when Barry Manilow had LOOKS LIKE WE MADE IT on the Radio ! And so so many other classics !!! Rocky movie also came out this year !

  • His best song for me. Such a great loss. So many beautiful songs and that voice. Like melted butter. We will never see the likes of this man again.

  • I like the cover of this album, but if you look closely, the drawing(?) is not an exact one of Paul Davis as his brow was more prominent.

  • So many great songs by Paul.

  • paul was a melody man --- a great loss to great music indeed!-- thanks for the post!

  • Great music, great performer, great memories. Thanks, brother. RIP.

  • 10 people didnt have a sweet life!!!!!!

  • One of the best ever. In my all-time top 500.

  • Davis was one of the greatest love song singer. Even if he is no longer here his music will be enjoyed by us who lived it. Paul you will be in our hearts.

  • March 1983 the birth of my only daughter loved this song she is the best daughter ever!

  • "You are my love, You are my life"...words from the heart.....***

  • 1977...Couple skating with that girl you had a crush on, living in a beautiful nation filled with hope, swimming at the local pool with the neighbor kids spying on their sister. I miss those times so much, and this songs helps me deal with todays problems. They dont make songs or artist like these and wont ever again. We miss you Paul, and thanks for the memories:)

  • @roxxygirl1969 I too remember the couple skating to this song!! Many sweet songs back in the days:o)

  • This song makes me feel happy.

  • The late 70's and early 80's love melodies were absolutely beautiful. This is talent. The Gaga and Beibers can't hold a candle to this talent.

  • senior year of college living in a one bedroom apt. with my pregnant wife. What I wouldn't give to go back in time.

  • Thank you so much. so cool!

  • He looks like Jesus on the album cover.

  • @kd8bud lol ur funny.

  • One of the best singers from the 70s, we had so many during that decade, which was unquestionably the greatest musical decade. Billy Joel, Paul Davis, Carley Simon, Neil Diamond and so many more.

    I miss 70s music.

  • It just doesnt get any better than THIS!!!!

  • They just dont make music like this anymore. Takes me back to a place that i wish I appreciated more. Such a great time in my life.

  • I was with my first love expecting my first child back when this song came out, Wow! what memories!

  • Very soothing to the ears! Very rare does one hear this kind of rhythm nowadays.

  • Paul hit #17 in Billboard, 12-16-78. God bless ya, brother Paul. Hope your havin' a sweet time, up there in Heaven. Thanx for postin' it. RIP.

  • Talent for songwriting and performing the likes of which will never be seen again under the standard of quality for todays generation.

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly mgrella63! Those were some wonderful music making years back during the Paul Davis' era.

  • Love paul davis just love him

  • I am so bummed out as I didn't realize Paul had passed away. What an amazing guy and voice. I saw Paul back in the early 80's at the Starwood Club in Hollywood, CA. It was a small intimate place which made seeing and hearing Paul so special. He is missed by many.

  • I'm not gay but I seriously love this guy.

  • SWEET song, wonderful lyrics (typical of the era) and to top it all off,a wonderful voice.

How in God's almighty name we do NOT hear this kind of music any more now days? Now days they ALL sound the same (you cannot tell one so called singer or ARTIST? from another) they all yell and shout about the same values in their empty and miserable lives. What has the world come to? I really miss the good ol' days.

  • This song takes me back to 14 years old. Times were innocent, did not have a care in the world. Would give anything to go back. At least music like this can. RIP Paul.

  • WOW 1977, 23 years old and found out wife was expecting first child. This song took on extra special meaning. Really miss all the special music of the 70's.

  • Who cares how he died, he could have died taken a big dump for all I care Regardless he had a great voice and good songs.

    RIP Paul Davis

  • Paul Davis Did Not Have The AIDS Virus. He Died Of A Fatal Heart Attack In April 2008 2 Days After HIs 60th Birthday

  • @Pauleyh2 did not know he passed away. That is a big lose to the music industry. He was a true artist

  • OMG Thank you youtube and of course the one who downloaded this clip. Oh I was thinking and singing this song to myself the otherday. And I could not remember who sanged it. But its nice to hear it again after a million years.

  • Sweet Life, I Go Crazy, Cool Night, Do Right, and '65 Love Affair... without these great songs the world wouldn't be the same, and neither would my life. I thank God for Paul Davis. He makes me believe in love even when the world seems like a very dark place to live in sometimes. Paul Davis gave us light, and his music will shine in my life for as long as I live.

Only one other singer I feel the same way about, and that's Karen Carpenter.

  • This is such a beautiful song song by a great voice. RIP Paul Davis.

  • Great song great music. Today, most singers, not all, lack the talent because they have very poor education...ie, all that gangsta rap crap. I can't go back in time, but I can hold on to and listen better to these songs as I get older. Like fine wine, these songs age well.

  • i head these song but didnt no who sang them i was a kid in the 70s

  • i get high just holding you tight...

  • I was a freshman in HS in '77 too. In the 80s, many Baby Boomers looked down on 70s music and said it was bad. Now, I think many are seeing that it was great. So many wonderful songwriters. Very uplifting.

  • What a romantic guy he was....and a lucky woman his wife must have been...

  • Damn, it's Jesus!

  • wow - such amazing memories - never thought he'd look like that though - used to hear this on the radio all the time...

  • love paul davis, it reminds me of my step mom, she had a good ear for true romance tunes...thanks pat..love you...

  • Isn't this song what it's all about? The one you love, the life you share...

  • makes me want 2 cry every time I hear it, beautiful song.. sweet song

  • CLASS,PAUL DAVIS MUSIC WILL GO FOREVER,PASSION TALENT.JUST FLAT BEAUTIFUL WORDS .....

  • He's got my eyes, he's got your nose........wondrous!!!!

  • Takes me back to 9th grade in 1978 slow dancing with a girl I had a huge crush on. It was the greatest time ever.

  • Love listening to this while my 3 year old daughter and wife are in the bath tub and I'm watching and playing with them in the bubbles with my jeans getting wet getting splashed sitting outside of the bathtub, then I have to change, but I don't mind cause I'm livin such a sweet life!

  • i always thought he looked like greg alman!

  • maaaan, he looks like Jesus in this album cover.

  • It's alright and natural to have the physical aspect of music or a song but that alone is not enough to stand through all time without the spiritual, soul, and materialistic aspect of music. Music was originally more than just greed, money, materialism, and physical. Those are vanity and without life by themselves. God did not originally create music for just dead boring vanity communication

  • I lived in Mississippi when Paul was a hit on the radio. My Dad came from neaer Meridian & this music resonates because of that & because Paul was an incredibly poignant lyricist, just listen...

  • SONG CAPTURES ALL THOSE TRUE TO LIFE FEELINGS...GOD BLESS PAUL DAVIS.

  • I love this song.. I remember rollerskating to this song back in the day... ! R.I.P. Paul Davis, your music lives on forever! :)

  • When i hear this song i feel like God is speaking to my heart. It goes beyond physical and natural means.

  • I hate to be sentimental--I was just a young guy when some of these songs were around--but the Internet seems to be bringing our generation (70s and 80s) together again...glad to hear from you guys...maybe we can turn this generation on to some real music!

  • i really miss this beautiful thoughtful music. It's too bad our children will not get the chance to experience real music. Thank you Paul for your thoughtful words and voice. Sing on with the angels!!

  • One a the greatest of Country and Rock music !!!

    RIP.

  • Not many things in this life can bring a tear to my eyes, but this song does.He may not be here in form, but his soul lives on. Paul was a good man.Rest in Peace brother.

  • The most beautiful song I've ever heard I want to live the "sweet life" but I can't meet my wife." Come on single ladies!!!!

  • Awesome song and Voice!! Wow I miss those days!! 1977 I was a freshman in highschool! Were did the time go to?? RIP Paul Those days had hit after hit! They never stopped coming !! It was a Amazing time in music!! Music to me died in late 1993. After that it was all garbage.

  • @mgrella63 Forgive my curiosity, but what happened in late 93 for you to feel that way?

  • @ToddSweeneyOnce grunge, rap, became dominating forces in the music industry.lyrics and music samples were being used (regurgitated) to make feeble attempts at new music, nothing original was happening from that point on.hope this answers your question

  • @mgrella63 It does answer it and now it's worse than ever.

  • @mgrella63The music industry sold their soul to the big lie of the devil a long time ago.

  • @mgrella63 Agree. After 1992 i lost interest in music because it became so souless and lacking that passion spirit.

  • @mgrella63 I agree with you...music and everything else has been garbage since 1993...

  • @FortHood1974 since 82

  • @mgrella63 I'm much older than you. I had my daughter in '76 and this has special meaning. I agree about the music. Where did the sweet romance with this type of style go?

  • @mgrella63 thats so true , i agree i too was 17 in 1977 a much simplier and better time, lots of memories , good music

  • this is truely a beautiful song , miss 1977 , cant go back , but have some great memories

  • @mgrella63 ,

Tottally agree, i actually say in 1995 when the Spice girls and all those lame Factory Procuced Boy Bands of the late 90's.The music of today is horrible, but their is few and far decent songs today.

  • @mgrella63

I totally agree!!! I miss the music

  • @mgrella63 I was a senoir....lol

  • Such a beautiful talent!

  • heard this a boy in the 70's..now I'm 43 and just heard it again..thankyou for posting it..I can apply so many memories to it..
