A solid wrestler with good striking and decent sub defense is the best kinda fighter out there... A solid wrestler with good striking and decent sub defense is the best kinda fighter out there... GSP is great at wrestling - but he came from a Karate background. Anderson, Aldo, JDS... they're strikers. Aldo just KO'd Mendes - who alot of people said would take Aldo down at will & blah blah blah. It's easier to come from a striking or BJJ then learn takedown defence than vice versa. FACT.

Wrestling is a good base to have, but JJ is far better because when a wrestler uses their strength they are just going right to where the JJ guy has his strength. You see so many wrestlers get submitted because they are using their strength and getting wreckless with the G&P or just leaving an arm in there. If you think wrestling is more dangerous than JJ look at the first Lesnar vs Mir fight, Lesnar got Mir down, and got caught and lost.

Wrestling is good for control - but it certainly isn't the best base to come from & it certainly won't be effective unless you learn BJJ defence & offense.
