  • Mind Explosion

  • fuck, now I want to learn to play the violin

  • Hush, children. I'm trying to listen to the music.

(I'm not talking about the guys in the video, I mean you two)

  • I love this post-rock. It makes me happy.

  • Suis d'accord toi, sauf les blaireaux qui l'ouvrent !!!!

  • c est putain de bon!

  • Violin is badly of of tune

  • @rabarino out* that is :s

  • in regards to the fans screaming - they paid their 15 quid to get in, they can do whatever the fuck they want.

Dont like it? Get, tae fuck.

  • @ugli1 no, they paid 15 quid to go and watch Mogwai play music, just like everyone else. If they want to act like a bunch of mongs, they can do it at home in their living rooms for free.

  • @boringprophet - you have no power over their actions - makes you sick doesn't it?

  • @ugli1 Yeah, you got me there. Stellar reasoning.

  • @boringprophet its not reasoning, it's an affront u twat..he's saying youre a resentful prick...u just say "stellar reasoning" to everything huh? like a default answer, even when it's not a reasoning at all? ...and no, u have no infallible definition over how people enjoy themselves, if being rambunctious asses is how they express joy, esp inebriated, so be it....now that's fucking stellar

  • @carlo88moe Well, if one chooses to be a rambunctious ass while I'm enjoying one of my favourite bands, they're going to hear about it. Similarly, if someone argues with me and ends up making their point with grammar that would shame a two year old, you are going to fucking hear about it. Many things can be described as stellar, but your education is not one of them. And you can call that an 'ad hominem' fallacy if you like, but I'm quite sure that this is the first time you've heard the phrase.

  • @boringprophet whoa, u have some vague knowledge of fallacies;pff, like that warrants any superciliousness on your part..sorry,those trite affronts to my education are like a litmus test to find an idiot, it's the equivalent to 'yo momma' jokes for the pretentious..ha,it's called shorthand u twat, if ur really the type to get indignant about grammar on utube, then realize ur inanity and change! pff, might as well be irate about dirt being outside.know ur surrounding, its called code switching CUNT!

  • @boringprophet yeah, it really is tawdry and just simply boring... its that really the level of inventiveness u can muster for being such the educated wordsmith? huh, i wouldve have guessed 'stupid jokes' were for morons and fat teenagers...but, i dont know u, u could actually being one of those designations...

  • I've always wished the violin was more prominent in the album version composition. This version has such a beautiful ending.

  • what country is that? i don't ever want to enter a place where people erupt in ghey screams whilst this is going on. shit. damn idiots.

  • every one of those idiots screaming should have been slapped in the face and escorted to the door

  • everyone of those idiots screaming at around 2:20 should've been slapped in the face and escorted to the door

  • If you can't be quiet during the soft parts you don't deserve the climax.

  • This is the sad reflection of Paths to Helicon, and this is a path to a very dark place.

  • @StevenKellyBelly its funny you say that, it is dark... and yet i feel nothing but its astonishing beauty and power, especially that break out riff that sends waves of exhilaration down my spine at 5:29

  • magnific. this is a band that u'll never expect bad things!

  • Amazing sound!

  • no si esta orgasmico genial emotivo energetico

  • if i would have been there i would've punched that twat in the fucking mouth. That is so rude dude.

  • stfu crowd, ty

  • truly amazing fucking love

  • The guy behind Stuart was boycotted, huh

  • saw them last year in zurich and they told the crowd to please shut up because they wanna play on the stage... it was awesome!

  • I've only ever seen Mogwai at festivals in the Toronto area. The crowd pretty much ruined the vibe both times.

  • Where have you been in the toronto area i went to see them at the pheonix concert theater in may earlier this year and it was amazing

  • dickhead crowd.

  • Pretty much every crowd anywhere is a dickhead crowd.

  • awesome, such a beatiful post rock melody

  • perfect

    beautiful

  • awesome! One of my favourites!

  • live for all

    it perfection

  • why can't they shut their mouth....

  • @zwelf12 dude...just shut up...you want to listen to a completely flawless one, go listen to the record....people who come to live vids BEWARE! there will be crowds!!...pffft, really man, its a risible complaint....

  • how stupid did the morons who started to shush feel when it immediately began to build and the crowd got louder..."shhhhhh god these idiots *guitars get louder* well i guess its okay"....

  • @zwelf12 because they want to enjoy themselves

  • Comment removed

  • Mogwai was the only band I've seen live (including many METAL bands) where people actually covered their ears cause they are SO FUCKING LOUD. But that's what they're going for. When they get loud, they get LOUD. So either embrace it or move at least a hundred feet from the stage. Simply gorgeous.

  • I've always loved this song. This version is just as beautiful, The crowd just sucks and should shut the fuck up!

    Mogwai... Always!

  • Oh Frik , Mogwai rule the earth!

  • This crowd is terrible, thankfully the crowd at the concert I went to was perfect. A wide range of true fans who all participated by enjoying the music. Not shouting garbage throughout. I looked up, out of a daze and saw everyone had there heads down and eyes closed at the end of this. As if they were attending a funeral, except this was a euphoric funeral.

  • That is exactly the way a crowd should be ;) eyes closed, head down, and totally into that amazing music. First of July they come to Holland, and i can't WAIT to go there.. !

  • this song absolutely wrecked me live.

  • love the violin at the end <3

  • great song at live

  • Ah mogwai, I loved your show at the Bluebird. You guys rocked me the fuck out of my socks. This song was incredible to hear live... One of my favs for sure.

  • they were in Zagreb last november but didn't play this song - such a shame - nevertheless the gig was amazing and i'm lookin forward to my next mogwai concert - mogwai foreva

  • don't scream and shout during their concerts. You just don't do that. Find another, more inventive, way to show you appreciation or to let the whole damn audience know that you "know what's coming". Thank you. cheers...

  • first of all, the ep+6 is obviously an EP, and christmas steps is on come on die young -.-

  • Before being on CODY it was recorded as 'Xmas Steps' and released on EP, which was later expanded and reissued as EP+6

  • Yes but x-mas steps isn't on the U.S version and the version on CODY is a different recording. I like th EP one better :)

  • hope to see them on my birthday !st august in London.

album this song is off is my fave album ever . EP+6. best album ever

  • Awesome.

  • Greatest Christmas song ever!

  • amo esta banda! es muy profundo el emnsaje que nos da.

  • Just watch them at KL, this song makes my day!!!

  • They played it at Manchester Academy. No paths to helicon 1 but this and herod did me :)

  • To the folks who claim they saw this song live recently : are you sure? This song hasn't been a part of a Mogwai setlist since 2003 at the latest.

  • OI!!! they'd better well play this song when they come to Greece!!!! I'm gonna be half naked and wielding a ginormous St. Andrews Cross (Scottish flag), just to make'em feel a bit more at home :P

Who gives a flying f**k if it's gonna be 5C outside? IT'S MOGWAI BABY!

  • Exactly, I saw them the 4th of November and I don't recall them playing this song...

  • actually, that's not true. One of my friends saw them in 2006 in montreal and they played this song

  • They played this song in Spain one month ago.

  • I hope they play it when I see them on the 22nd...

  • probably one of the best songs i have ever heard.

  • how great they still played that live this fall.

  • To right mattydude

  • I can't wait to see them at Golden Plains.

  • there is a taping of "my father, my king" from this performance. if anyone can find the torrent and upload it on youtube the entire mogwai fan base would be forever gracious.

  • Someone posted the official video to this song, recorded while playing on MTV2. Who was it, and where has the video gone???

I prefer this version here, but it's good to see the video now and again.

  • and the violin, perfect touch to the song. just perfect!

  • awesome!!! what id give to play with them on stage!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!

  • Finally!! I'm going to get to see Mogwai live at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange in Scotland during their UK tour in October 2008. Fuck yeah!!

I just hope that Christmas Step is still part of their setlist because it's one of Mogwai's tunes.

  • Finally I'm gonna listen Mogwai Live in Barcelona!! At Summercase festival !!

    They rock!

  • wauw, the explosion sounds pretty cool

  • incredible performance, I wanna see em live so bad!

  • Me too, hubris663. I'd love to see Mogwai live in concert. I read on their official website that the band are working on their new album, with hope of a released by the summer. Can't wait to hear some of their new music, it'll be amazing as all their other stuff is.

  • awesome!!!!

  • Best live perfomance i have ever seen period. This band has so much raw talent and emotion its hard to believe they live on this planet, they belong somewhere better than this place

  • La ostia puta!!!

  • la puta ostia!!!

  • and I forgot to say:

    COME ON DIE YOUNG!

  • when listening to this (or Like Herod) the loud bits actually make me jump if im playing along on the guitar.

    BRILLIANT stuff. absolutely brilliant.

  • there utter bastards you notice on studio version of this come on die young(cody haha never noticed that) that they record clean guitar really quite so u turn stereo up so when distorted kicks in knocks you away! x

  • this is genius!

  • the evil bastard recorded the clean parts really really quite on the cd so u turn up your stereo so when loud bit comes in youve turned ur steareo up so much is blows ur house down haha amazin band amazin song live this is better due to clearer violin

  • Ha, makes playing this song on the radio hard; first few minutes, I've got the master volume way up, then have to turn it way down for the climax.

First time I played this DJing, I didn't do so - I actually heard the needle on the volume meter clink against the casing, it hit it so fast and hard. Ha.

  • bunch of sicks fucks they kill live though

  • This. Is. So. GREAT!!!

  • thats it... i need to see them live

  • increiblemente bello

  • i love everyone who loves mogwai, coz i love mogwai so much and i think they are so under rated i dunno how they whole world doesnt love them, bu ti think its good in a way that way there more "mine"

  • support what you're saying, good call

  • Whoa! Damn! So good......

  • Mogwai ROCK!! This is one of my favourite Mogwai songs. It's brutal when the distortion kicks in, hahaha.

I was these guy would released a DVD of them playing live. They're amazing live. I hope to see them live in concert one day. Maybe they next tour the UK...

  • god damn it's so powerful.

  • took me a few days to get my hearing back last time i saw them live. they were spot on.

  • hooooly shit, they get sooooooooo LOUD.

  • This is one of my favorite Mogwai songs... I just love it... it makes me move in wierd ways.

  • Quite simply beautiful and Luke Sutherland enhances this. Very difficult as to what's their best: this, 2 rights, friend, MFMK, kubrick my top 5 at the mo.

  • the timing on this track soudns so tight

  • Who's the drummer there?

  • Normal guy by the looks of it. Martin Bulloch? I think that's his name.

  • Do they have any live DVD stuff out yet? Anybody know? They are better live than on the cd by far.

  • unfortunately no live dvd or cd out yet. don't underestimate their records, but yes, on stage they're simple the greatest band on this planet

  • There's a version of the Mr. Beast cd that comes with a dvd.

  • they rock hard

  • Mogwai, my gods!

  • mukkumukku love u

  • What a pity they didn't play it here in Milan when they last came... Probably their best song!

  • Does anyone know what kind of bass Dominic plays on most of their songs?

  • god i have never seen anyone drag out 2 chords for 8 minutes with such mastery before! god bless mogwai.

  • the screaming people are funny.

  • Fucking genius

  • "I love this song - I wish to God they'd play a gig in Glasgow that isn't live."

TYPO! I meant "I wish they'd play a gig in Glasgow that isn't over 18s only."

    I love this.

  • err dont know about you but i saw them at barrowland about a month back an it was an over 14's this being in glasogw

  • You're shitting me.

I read on all the ticket webshites that it was over 18s - RAGING.

  • I think it's the venues that make up the age limit, as when I saw them in May 06 it was an 18+ show cuz of the venue it was held at

  • dominic aitchinson is a damn good bass player

  • I love this song - I wish to God they'd play a gig in Glasgow that isn't live.

And the violin part really adds to this well.

    Bloody brilliant.

  • Great. Arguably one of the greatest "progressive" Rock songs of the last 25 years.

  • one of my fave songs in my life!

    they're so good in live

  • luke sutherland on violin. goosebumps!

  • god I luv it
