Raven was a beauty. I lost my first Sharpei on Feb. 18, 2001 at 13 1/2 years old. Had Cancer and had to put him down. Lost my second on Feb. 23rd of this year at 7 years 8 Mos. He had a hereditary Genetic disorder that resulted in Sharpei Fever and Kidney Failure. Everything just shut down and he died before we could get him to the Vet. I now have a new little guy who is now 4 Mos. old. I have posted a video. Charlie S.
5*'s hun. i had a shar pei mutt named pikachu and he gave me the best 10 years of my life. he died on march 14th of this year. i was lucky to be able to hold him as he went. we had a song "i love my dog" by sublime. when i got him at a month old we danced around to that song every year on his birthday while his cake was baking and cooling off. shar pei's are the best dogs in the world. i was lucky enough to be able to spend 10 years of my life with him.

Everytime I watch this video, I become extremely emotional & cannot hold back my tears because I too lost my sharpei, Xena, in March of 2007. Her lungs were full of tumors & we didn't know until it was too late. She was my best friend in the whole world & I've never been the same since that horrible day. Xena was also a black sharpei & when I watch this video the similarities b/t them are remarkable, which is why I feel so connected to your story. Thank you for this video, it really touched me.

I had a chinese sharpei, too. His name was Cyrus. I was at the store one night and I guess my moms boyfriend let him out to goto the bathroom, but he took off and was hit by a car that same night. He died instantly. My mom got a call from the vet and she went down to look at the body to make sure it was him...and it was. I didnt know for three months. Then my mom told me. It completely tore me up. I still miss him. He was my best friend. RIP, Cyrus. I love you. <3

There is just nothing more special than your heart dog, and I know she was yours....these Shar Pei are SUCH wonderful dogs....we have 5, and I can feel your pain in the loss of her....she was a beautiful dog, and you can see in her eyes, how smart she was and how much she loved her people and protected them, with soft baby in mouth and evertying!

My dog was diagnosed with liver failure a week ago today, he was given some injections to help with his vomiting but they didn't help so we deceided to put him to sleep on Thursday. I miss him so much and miss him already and your video really helped <3

I was so sad and cried so much, I had to give mine away, but luckily he was heart broken and I got him back, we will never part again this time. I was so sad and empty without him, they are great dogs so silly but loving.

Every Shar Pei owner will be in tears reading that. I have a 5year old Alfie who we rescued from the RSPCA (uk) he settled in so well after a rough start in life, and cant imagin our home without him now.

i have boston, now 13 years old. i had both of his parents until they passed years ago. it is so devastating to do the right thing when you know that their quality of life has diminshed. the love, and companionship they have gave me will stay with me forever. i hope i am strong when boston's time comes, and think of him only.he has old age problems, but still loves getting around.i cry when i watch your video. to those who read this, colchicine helps with the kidneys, might want to ask your vet.
Raven didn't have Amyloid nor was there nothing wrong with her kidneys. She had skin Cancer she also had a very bad allergy to grass, the vets did everything possible, but there was nothing left to be done for her but put her out of her pain.

My heart goesout to you. I had a black female named Amanda Mae we lost her at 8 years old to kidney failure. Looking at your video brings back so many good memories, as well as the heartache. I have 3 bulldaogs as well as 2 mixed and at one time we had 7 dogs, to try to help with the loss of Amanda. Nothing can ever replace the love of a shar pei.
sorry you lost your pei. I have a 7 year old with various health issues. I know I'll have to deal with loss soon enough. But despite that fact, I'll always be a shar pei enthusiast. No amount of loss and vet bills can change that. Once you go Pei, you can't go back.
To those who have had ones die of kidney disease, apparently one major cause is too much meat in their diet. In china they would have eaten very little meat. The best died i find is rice with veggies and a little bit of tuna or chicken mince.
You were a truly wonderful owner. Sorry for your loss. I used to breed shar-pei's and currently have two. The face of Raven looks amazingly like my shar-peis mum. I have had to put one shar-pei down and another died of kidney disease and there is something special about a shar-pei that no other dog can replace.
I know it's hard but Shar-pei recue has a lot of the most wonderful dogs. I get mine from rescue in Canada and have had to put down three over the last 4 years. It's not for the faint of heart but they deserve to be spoiled rotten also. Mine gets his own steak when I BBQ. Although their time was short with me, their last days were being spoiled and loved dearly. Consider rescue dogs, they deserve it too!

hi great vid made me cry abit, my dog is a shar pei his brother was 7 last year he died of kidney failure, i went to the vet to check buck's (my shar pei) blood value's and he also got kidney failure but till an extent that they work for like 60% i give him medicine i hope it'll work out for the best my Bucky is 8 years old now.

You have my empathy on this completely... I lost my zelda (choclate lab) a couple years ago. She died 5 days after giving birth to 13 puppies, only 11 were born alive. I took care of all of them, I only wish Zelda could've seen them grow up an have been with them a bit longer... :( I'm deeply sorry for your loss
OMG! Know the feeling! Like someone said they are so human. Our China was our first "child". We had to put her to sleep in the second year of her life. Killed us. We are finally thinking of getting another one. We are to the point that the pain is not as bad and if there was no pain we would have never known her to start with. We still love and miss her tremendously! I hope time helps you accept the pain.

Not always but they don't tend to live as long as most breeds, my other Shar-pei Moose is now 12 but he's not doing to well right now. :-(

I first saw this video about a year ago and I cried. I decided to watch it again just now and I cried all the way through.
My dog was diagnosed with liver failure a week ago today, he was given some injections to help with his vomiting but they didn't help so we deceided to put him to sleep on Thursday. I miss him so much and miss him already and your video really helped <3

I lost my beautiful dog Rip Van Wrinkle last night. He was going to be 12 in October. He was the love of my life and I am not dealing with this well. I would love to make a memorial video. Please let me know how you did yours it was so beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss as I know your pain, I am in it now. I feel so empty and incomplete without him. I was so sad and cried so much, I had to give mine away, but luckily he was heart broken and I got him back, we will never part again this time. I was so sad and empty without him, they are great dogs so silly but loving.

it reminds me of my sharpei king.
He had a tumor in his stumach and we had to let him go in november 2007.
Tuesday we heard it and thursday he was gone.
I still cry about it.
When i see this video, it makes me cry.
I know exactly how you feel.

Skin Cancer? My aunt's shar-pei died of kidney failure. Peanut was 7 years old too.

Every Shar Pei owner will be in tears reading that. I have a 5year old Alfie who we rescued from the RSPCA (uk) he settled in so well after a rough start in life, and cant imagin our home without him now.
My heart goes out to you and your family and your sad sad loss. Every dog is missed that passes but once a Sharp-Pei has touched your lifes they are missed forever.

No they aren't, they can be stand offish with strangers if not trained properly, they are wonderful family dogs and very loving and devoted dogs.

i have boston, now 13 years old. i had both of his parents until they passed years ago. it is so devastating to do the right thing when you know that their quality of life has diminshed. the love, and companionship they have gave me will stay with me forever. i hope i am strong when boston's time comes, and think of him only.he has old age problems, but still loves getting around.i cry when i watch your video. to those who read this, colchicine helps with the kidneys, might want to ask your vet.

Raven didn't have Amyloid nor was there nothing wrong with her kidneys. She had skin Cancer she also had a very bad allergy to grass, the vets did everything possible, but there was nothing left to be done for her but put her out of her pain.

Raven had Skin cancer, everything we could do was done to help her but she started loosing weight and stopped eating and was in a lot of pain. :(

i have 2 shar peis male-7 and his sis is 6-he has started losing weight in the last 3 wks-my nephew had his brother-and the same thing happened with him-2 vets couldn't find the exact cause-the autopsy showed enlarged pancreas and abnormalities in the liver-i'm sure the end is near for bogart and the decision i must make is killing me-he looks like he wants me to help him-and i can't

My heart goesout to you. I had a black female named Amanda Mae we lost her at 8 years old to kidney failure. Looking at your video brings back so many good memories, as well as the heartache. I have 3 bulldaogs as well as 2 mixed and at one time we had 7 dogs, to try to help with the loss of Amanda. Nothing can ever replace the love of a shar pei.

sorry you lost your pei. I have a 7 year old with various health issues. I know I'll have to deal with loss soon enough. But despite that fact, I'll always be a shar pei enthusiast. No amount of loss and vet bills can change that. Once you go Pei, you can't go back.

To those who have had ones die of kidney disease, apparently one major cause is too much meat in their diet. In china they would have eaten very little meat. The best died i find is rice with veggies and a little bit of tuna or chicken mince.

You were a truly wonderful owner. Sorry for your loss. I used to breed shar-pei's and currently have two. The face of Raven looks amazingly like my shar-peis mum. I have had to put one shar-pei down and another died of kidney disease and there is something special about a shar-pei that no other dog can replace.

I know it's hard but Shar-pei recue has a lot of the most wonderful dogs. I get mine from rescue in Canada and have had to put down three over the last 4 years. It's not for the faint of heart but they deserve to be spoiled rotten also. Mine gets his own steak when I BBQ. Although their time was short with me, their last days were being spoiled and loved dearly. Consider rescue dogs, they deserve it too!

Wow - Absolutely beautiful tribute! You touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes with this. I'm now re-living my own sorrow last year when I lost my beloved pei to cancer after 10 years together.

hi great vid made me cry abit, my dog is a shar pei his brother was 7 last year he died of kidney failure, i went to the vet to check buck's (my shar pei) blood value's and he also got kidney failure but till an extent that they work for like 60% i give him medicine i hope it'll work out for the best my Bucky is 8 years old now.

i am so sorry for your loss i know how you feel i had to get frankie my golden lab put down a few month ago she was 15 and cudnt walk anymore. it was the hardes thing i ever did akin her to the vet knowing that i wasnt goin home with her. hope you have loads of amazing memories of raven and treasure them always!!

i have a dog named cocoa she is a black shar pei.
she is going to die in a year.
im 13 and ive had her for 7 years. she is like my best friend. and when that day comes. i dont know what i will do.this is the saddest video EVER! i called cocoa and i just cried my eyes out and then she licked my tears away. i will NEVER forget about your dog raven. and that X-MAS pic is a cute pic!

Even though I did not know your dog she seems like a wonderful dog to have as a companion I feel your pain I have a shar pei that looks just like yours but brown mines is a boy In 2 years we are going to let him have a mate you can probabley have one of the puppies only if you want to Im sorry Im crying :(

You have my empathy on this completely... I lost my zelda (choclate lab) a couple years ago. She died 5 days after giving birth to 13 puppies, only 11 were born alive. I took care of all of them, I only wish Zelda could've seen them grow up an have been with them a bit longer... :( I'm deeply sorry for your loss

OMG! Know the feeling! Like someone said they are so human. Our China was our first "child". We had to put her to sleep in the second year of her life. Killed us. We are finally thinking of getting another one. We are to the point that the pain is not as bad and if there was no pain we would have never known her to start with. We still love and miss her tremendously! I hope time helps you accept the pain.

(as tears run down my face) i understand what you've been through. we've lost 2 wonderful sharpei's, one by FSF 5 years ago and the other by just old age (he made it to 13 and past away in our bed last year). they are such wonderful companions, loyal and lovable! you did a great job on the video and the song is beautiful - very fitting. please check out our video of our sharpei - as one can never be replaced but another can sure help fill the void.

I had two shar peis that I grew up with. They were both black and watching your video of Raven brought up many lovely memories of Chang and Nibu. They both passed away at young ages (7 and 6) and our family has never been the same. Thank you for sharing your video.

I lost my female shar pei earlier this year also, she was 14 years old. But by this fall I had found and fell in love with 2 little males now my house is full of fun and laughter. I wish for you to find the same, two shar pei puppies that will heal your heart.

I moved to be with the man I loved and sadly had to leave behind 3 of my best friends because of money issues.. Parting with my dogs was one of the hardest things I have had to do.. one was a shar-pei/dalmation mix.. I feel for you
