It can be a very isolating job: I frequently did 12-15 hour double shifts without seeing another human being, which is the one part of the job I really don't miss. Very strange when there are hundreds of people just the other side of the wall from you!
I love working up in projection in a theater one reason is I don't have to deal with guest. When it's slow in the cinema there is always work to be done to keep busy in projection.

I once bet a dude who worked with me, that he couldn't go the entire 7 hour shift with his penis hanging out of his pants. Convinced that no one would see him or make comment, he took me up on this wager.
He won. 7 hours later he clocked out, and no one was ever the wiser!
The $20 was worth the cost of laughter that whole shift!
One of my mates rang projection and they answered, "Hello? Bat cave?". Says it all,really! Do have the grey-shirted technicians a Jersey like we have in Castleford? You don't mention them.
This film is great having experienced the wonderful joys of projecton. It truely can drive you to insanity. All the projectionists at the site i work at have a reputation amongst the multifunctionals as being the crazy weirdos locked away upstairs for all eternity.
That's not just at your site. It's the same at every cinema worldwide. Of course we don't mind multifunctionals thinking that because equally amongst us the multis have a reputation of being the inferior "Downstairs" weirdos.

LOL, That reminds me off working for Warner Village cinemas many years ago at Bristol's Cribbs Causeway site only Warner was much nicer to there projectionists and we eat heartily meals each day often paid by the top man.
