No, this was 1966 and was recorded with Joe Osborn in his garage studio. Johnny Burnette owned the label, but died in 1964. There is some talk that the Carpenters did some session work for Dean Torrence who was trying to keep Jan & Dean running after Jan's accident. He released some singles on Magic Lamp too. Karen told me she never made this single, but I put it in my fanzine, Downey Soft, and that brought it to the fans' attention.
Are you sure that it was 1964 when this single was cut, verycoolsound ???? The Carpenters moved from New Haven, CT to Downey, CA in 1963 which means that she would have had to recorded this single when she was 14 years old and in middle school......Karen probably cut this single in 1966 or 1967 around the time when her and Richard won the Battle of the Bands at the Hollywood Bowl.

how many 16 year olds do you know with a voice like that?

I heard that this record only sold over 700 copies. That's a shame. This should have been in the Top 20 if not the Top Ten. This is a good song..

Then Karen Carpenter was only 16 when she first made this record.

THis record fetches at least $50,000 if you can find one...needless to say 'VeRy' collectable.
