  • Is this film as awful as everyone says it is?

  • @lurch321 it is neither as bad as some might say nor as earth-shattering as so others tend to think... but it is note-worthy and definitely deserving of a look.

  • kidman has the best ass on mainstream film

  • what is the name of the orchestral song at 0:20 ?

    does anybody know?

  • @nikiwonoto ... Shostakovich waltz #2... sublime isn't it?

  • My eyes are NOT shut when Kidman drops the dress...

  • SHOSTAKOVICH WAS A GENIUS & KUBRICK IS A CLASSIC & PURE TALENT ....VEERY GOOD THE MESAGE OF THIS MOVIE

  • Fuck

  • kubrick was a genius just... pure talent!

  • ..Ha. "Ziegler" is Yiddish for "bricklayer" RE: Freemason. Gotta love all the hidden anecdotes and encoded symbolism Kubrick put into his films.

  • I've heard this described as "a real estate movie," and I can see that. I had some problems with this movie but it sure brought back a lot of memories of NY! Thank you for posting. Greetings from Paris, France. Uprated.

  • toms a short-ass motherfucker

  • @pte142 Tom knows where his money's at, and those are some healthy digits, so that makes little Tommy cruise taller than a hall of midgets...

  • @ajacqx

tom cruise fans to the rescue!! HAAAZZZAAAHHHH!!!!!

  • This music was performed by the "Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra".

Not "Orchestra Jupiter, Armonie Symphony Orchestra, Evgeny Bilyar, Lyudmila Sapochikova, Roma Tre Orchestra, Chamber Armonie Orchestra"

  • why does bill ask for the name of the babysitter even though his wife just mentioned it a minute before hand?

  • @yellowonetwo my take... this is but a microcosym of much of what the film is about. he is/ they are now comfortably married for a while now and so simple things start to slip a bit-- from familiairty. she asks how her hair looks and he, without even turning around says "great"...when she calls him on it his reply is, "you always look great". nice sentiment- just not an in-the-moment one, and lets face it, women want your full attention all the time... or as much of it as is possible.

  • @ajacqx thats an interesting viewpoint alright, i find the whole party scene that comes next very strange given the distance between them both after the intimacy of the house.... id love to see the apparent scenes deleted by warner brothers before they killed kubrick

  • min 0:34 is the "key" to the whole fu&%in film. "Alice" undressing to a gigantic pyramid shape in the window formed by the parted drapes...Kubrick was murdered for this.

  • what an ass

  • ....CONTINUED COMMENT: but now, I think it's great. And being an insane Kubrick nut, I could never dislike any of his movies, because they've always been so important to me. I would never have decided to become a filmmaker if it wasn't for Stanley Kubrick. I'll never forget him.

  • Kubrick usually favors two premises for a film: Sex or war. This one is about sex. And the way they were able to present it was very magnificent. Combining erotica with a psychological enigma is simply genius. The film plays out as a puzzle in which you have to try to put the pieces together. I enjoy this film more each time I watch it, and I seem to understand it better than I did last, and this can be common for a Kubrick film. In fact, when I first saw this movie in theaters, I loathed it....

  • @Dgamer21 You wuld understand it better if Warner wuld actually show Kubrick's movie -.- This thing we all watched was an edited version with 25 cut out Some of the stuff we saw in the movie Kubrick didnt even want to use , the scenes are about mind controll and that's the only thing i know about them

  • @F1brawfa I think it's in the European version.

  • @Dgamer21 No you see this is how warner amde things even more complicated by censoring allready censorted work , but the European version is just like American only there is more boobs , im tlaking about 25 minutes that had been cut from bouth versions 25 minutes of MK ultra mind control program movie documentation it is really importand

  • Yeah and it was really sexy to see her defecating on the toilet as well. Yet another reason to hate this sucky movie.

  • @theliberalmedia08 The sucky movie is not the movie Kubrick made , Warner Bross censorted the film and cut out 25 minutes from it , some scenes you saw in this movie Kubrick didnt even want to use , the scneario of the movie is completley change'd and oryginaly wase sepose to be about "mind controll" So its really unfair for you to rite this movie as it is the sucky Warner Bross version. Its still a masterpiece it looks like one big butiful painting but i understand why you didnt get it

  • this high class is so controlled & repressed-no wonder they have to release stress in sadistic rituals where they get to hurt & kill women & children of the poor ethnic class of laborers- reaffirmsw their feelings of domination & sex exploitation of poorer women & their group solidarity in these illegal acts- see cathy o brien slavery at the hands of so called educated professionals class-kubrick . like polanski seeded sadism in the public men s minds- & terror in women-so he cd get published

  • thdistic rituals on the poor ethnics hers-etc- no wonder they have to release their tension by st class is so controlled- watch always what pple think-impress ot

  • This is such a great film but when stacked up against other Kubrick films it's crap. The guy was such a great director that an excellent movie such as this one seems poor when compared to his others.

  • Is it not absurd that she undresses herself and that she has no lingerie?

  • I love this flick, it just totally trips me out. It's not like a movie, it's like spying on someones life. The lighting most of all is incredible, just super realistic. I don't know why more directors don't use it.

  • perfect comment, its 100000% TRUE..

  • @dreamrsdiedreamsdont .... No shit?! I must've missed that part!

  • i mean the morgue scene-a blond white woman is pulled out by a single black man,his face as if saying" well thats it".actually there are other similar scenes with blacks(staff, workers esp cops)staying around bodies of white people who are posed in humiliating way,and are as if the blacks dont give a damn(look at" bad boys ('95)"(bad movie d fit better) or "15 minutes of fame".there too, blacks stay at the body of a murdered white blond woman (plays prostitute)and are simply talking.

  • @dreamrsdiedreamsdont ... damn... and all this time I've been thinking that Hollywood has traditionally cast blacks in demeaning, one-dimensional, and exaggerated, almost cartoon-like characters exclusively until very recently, with a slight break from that norm only happening with any regularity in the last 10-15 years or so. but you say its the other-way-around...? humh...! Now if that don't beat all git-out!

  • @ajacqx

Lmao @dreamrsdiedreamsdont. Were there even any black people in this movie?? Were there even any non-whites period?? LOL! In New York of all places! O-ho!! That was a good one!

  • @dreamrsdiedreamsdont Yeah, Samuel L Jackson is always portrayed as a good guy.

  • This was the worst movie I have ever watched

  • @RyanWehr Then you know nothing about filmmaking!! idiot!!

  • gorgeous ass!!

  • GREAT ASS! Great Australian ass!! I'd go "down under" on her any fucking day of the week and twice on Sunday!!

  • I wish I was a movie director so I could tell the actresses to take off their clothes

  • Kidman taking a dump = awesome

  • @SuperGilberto1977 Pretty sure she was just taking a piss, but I see your point.

  • Amazing opening and great long shot :)

  • Stanley Kubrick was MURDERED for this movie.

  • @Suckkors he died of an heart attack you prick!

  • @rmo18

    oh really... dream on.

  • OH MY !!! Nicole Kidman were AMAZINGLY HOT !!!!

  • I felt like throwing up after this watching this clip. The Defacation was too much for me.

  • @jaundist She clearly wiped only in front. She was peeing.

  • @StanleyKu who cares, it's still disgusting.

  • I made impression that Tom Cruise's character vasted a lot of cash in movie, for overpays :)

  • @ssnowday

Shostakovich's Waltz #2... I'm not a classical buff and had never heard it or of it until this film. Now its stuck on me for life.... great piece

  • Great ass in a great film.

Now on a more comedic level, F1brawfa...seriously, did you inject a chicken with heroin and let it walk around on your keyboard?!

  • the audacity is beyond me

  • This is the moust underrated film in cinema history , it requaiers inteligence to understand , if you didnt like it come back after some years and just watch it again oh and read about the illuminati the elite and stuff it will help you understand the symbols hidden in this movie like te owl find the owl in this movie if you can and then reserch what an owl means in some rituals

  • this movie was garbage until the masquerade party but then the movie ends b4 you can learn more about whats going on

  • i think this movie has something to do with the illuminati, but that's not all it's about. with a line like, "if i told you their names... you might not sleep so well." it rings true with a lot of people's theories. i mean, it's not impossible that this could reflect some part of reality.

  • Divine Mercy Message, last hope for the desesperate Souls as Christ said in the '30s.

  • This is what you call erotic

  • @diineth wel-l-l-l-l-l, I'm can't really call it erotic... 'cause if it was, YouTube would block it and Ban my ass!

  • not on you tube...

  • @k1a1t1h1y1

well I tell ya, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but you're not going to find a lot of like-minded sentiments on this post. just read for yourself. And I can think of so many far more deserving of that designation... but I digress

  • she did and she wiped her dirty hands on her dress... she'll smell like an old tramp at the party.. :)

  • this I just see Nicole Kidman take a piss ?

  • @MsJony1234

if that's what YOU saw.... what can I tell ya...?

  • @ajacqx If that is what he saw? To be honest, there's not much more in that scene.

Unless that you meant the christmas tree and it supposedly Illuminati stuff?

  • @RazielFallenAngel lets just keep it simple... and civil. I don't know anything about the Illuminati or any of that. But what I saw here was an "any" couple preparing for an evening out and how very normal they looked doing it. And then of course as anyone who has seen the film will attest, they're anything but. So this snippet is but a brief introduction into that experience. And it has sparked quite a bit of conversation... over 125 felt they wanted to comment... nuff said?

  • @ajacqx I dont know neither about Illuminatti stuff. But, recently, I saw a lot of comments about it. Anyway, in my opinion that's just bullshit.

Then, about your video. Well I can understand what you mean with what you answered me. Easy, why don't you put that info where it should be, in "More Info" spot. People wouldnt argue anymore about it and they would know why you uploaded the video and what does symbolize.

PS: That "nuff" thing always made me laugh, it reminds me somehow of "muffins".

  • @RazielFallenAngel This is the moust underrated film in cinema history , it requaiers inteligence to understand , if you didnt like it come back after some years and just watch it again oh and read about the illuminati the elite and stuff it will help you understand the symbols hidden in this movie like te owl find the owl in this movie if you can and then reserch what an owl means in some rituals , oh and dont forgett that Warner Bross cut many sceans out of this film :((

  • @MsJony1234 hahahaha, amazing she pee's like everyother woman.

  • Masonic! Masonic! Masonic! Masonic! Masonic!

  • Best movie over the last 15 years. Definitely.

  • The story is based on Arthurs Schnitzlers Traumnovelle. He was an author and doctor from vienna.

  • @IQ20000Berta Masonic! Masonic! Masonic! Masonic! Masonic!

  • this movie is a reflection of just how sick the illuminati has made society!

    watch?v=-VtpTZlmPvc

  • @stereoscopicify This movie has nothing to do with illuminati. It's a parable about the importance of being earnest in a relationship.

  • A briliant story with several layers. It's not moralistic!

  • Gosh, Im only 13 -.-

  • Cool)

  • The movie opens with Nicole Kidman and ends with Nicole Kidman. It surely was intentional. It's difficult to understand a genius like Kubrick...

  • we do not truly know the ending...which is a shame. Rumor has it that studio executives altered the ending to make it more cinematic, but we will never know, will we?

  • I was far too busy staring at Nicky's perfect ass to notice what apartment she's in.

  • If I may contribute something to this discussion: The room first seen, where Alice is taking her dress off, she clearly just tried on, while deciding what to wear, is definitely the Hartford's apartment. You can see the white classicist collumns, the red curtains and the beige carpet. When the scene goes to Bill, you can recognize that all these elements are present in the apartment. Thus, it must be their place, not Ziegler's or anyone else's. Moreover, conspiracy theories sound very far off.

  • Sure. Can it be Alice before she married? Now that they're married, it's a mess with lots of Bill's stuff.

could even be her own apartment, but that's unlikely.

Oh, and Bill's place just sucks. Toilet doesn't look it it flushed.

Alice is taller than Bill too.

  • @Dabrema23 dude, min 0:35 opening credits shot, its Alice´s apt alright. No trace of Bill Hartford, just women´s high heels on the floor, couple tennis rackets...Oh and a giant pyramid shape on the window made by the parted drapes. Question is tho, how could an art dealer afford a sprawling 3 million dollar Central Park West pad? Hmmm. Cut to the Christmas party...Szandor´s back for more.

    Kubrick, you are sorely missed.

  • Tis definitely the season =) How about when he pops home and they're doing a math problem about who has more money. Or the nude painting on his office wall that looks like him. Possibly the most perfect movie ever made, and yes a perfect tush on nicole. RIP Stan - thanks!

  • ...tis the season

  • I'll mark you as spam since you don't seem to contribute any new information apart from the url.

  • I adore Stanley Kubrick - one of my all time favorite directors. Eyes Wide Shut was impressive movie with all these natural scenes, amazing acting (especially Nicole Kidman - supertalent), suspense, thrill...

    A must see movie!!!

  • I have to admit, even though the film's theme is about unconscious desires/fantasies, Nicole Kidman sports a great backside and body for 8-9 seconds in the opening sequence. I wonder how they managed to pull that off without receiving an "NC-17" rating or her feeling uncomfortable...

  • I watched the extras on my dvd and think she doesn't feel uncomfortable because she's a great actress and she's a professional. Kubrick knew all this, that's why he chose her for the role. I don't think anyone could've made it better than Nicole Kidman. Her acting is flawless. And I think Kubrick chose Cruise just because he was her husband... because Stanley was a great director and surely didn't think Cruise was an amazing actor. Which in fact he isn't.

  • Kubrick didn't need excellent actors to make remarkable films. He just needs to time to get the remarkable number of takes!

  • You're right about him not needing great actors... Ryan O'Neal doesn't act so well in Barry Lyndon but that movie is a masterpiece anyway... I'm just saying it's good when both acting and directing is excellent... ;)

  • @Sw33ts91 sure.

  • awesome awesome movie

  • each scene in this movie has to be deeply analyzed, this movie is not for your common moviegoer that goes to see The Hangover or something like that, not saying that The Hangover is a bad film, but it is lowbrow, this film Eyes Wide Shut is too high brow.

  • Folks... I enjoyed the movie (is why I posted it)... but it's not "new religion"... it's a movie....film. I get the impression from some of the response I've seen to this and some other posts that some of us take this stuff WA-A-A-Y too seriously. Name-calling, status-climbing, race-baiting, my dad could whup your dad kinda stuff. Can't we all just get aloof--- uh-h, I mean get-along...?!

  • @76special

cant even compare movies like this to the hangover lol

  • @76special i couldnt agree more with someone. Stanley Kubrick was a genius in this fine art that so many people take for granted and choose to just not recognise. This film was truly his greatest contribution to it.

  • @topham6 This movie is a masterpiece but we never really saw it..You see Warner had cut out 25 minutes drom it !! Kubrick had a deal with them but died sudently and they edited his film before anybody els wuld see it. I heard the scenes are about "mind controll" people shuld demant Warner to show this scenes

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Jazz Suite No.2 from D.D.Shostakovich

  • The opening title music is "Waltz 2 from Shostakovich's Suite for Variety Stage Orchestra", for years misidentified as the composer's Jazz Suite 2... Wikipedia

  • Amazing music.

  • He, SK, didn't receive so nice critic for this movie.

The 1st time I saw it I was just carried away to a place like 'Phanteon of movies' just to think about this Director who make me shiver every time I see a movie made by him. For me it's just a fantastic sublime wonderful movie.

  • lol you guys can keep arguing... im going to stare at Nicole's ass

  • @ridemybmw

I don't believe the next scene proves anything about the first. In fact, I disagree that both scenes are shot in the same room. It appears to me that the first cooly sexy scene takes place in a walk-in closet, and in the second there is an unopened door to where we do not know.

  • Uhm, can't we all just agree Nicole kidman has an awesome ass?

  • yeah, she surely does have the most beautiful body...and face!

  • Does Hartford even fu&%in know ? Alice used to be an art dealer but her business went south (coincidence?)when she got serious bout marriage. I sez she used to be a Sommerton whore, but now she has fu&%in nightmares about her past life cuz she`s an MK Ultra victim (ie: The Naval officer) with all those memories locked in her head.

  • What? The movie repeatedly likens financial success to prostitution, especially when it comes to Alice and the costume shop's daughter, but you seem to be implying something literal with absolutely no evidence.

  • "but you seem to be implying something literal with absolutely no evidence." - Snacko

What do you mean "no evidence" ? I`m extrapolating from the movie cues.

  • What past life? Her dreams seem to be mostly biblical and symbolic nature.

    And what cues?

  • Alice, has had a "dream".These memories come to Alice during a "dream", which in reality appears to be a repressed memory; a "dream" featuring a "Naval Officer" with a penetrating stare. A man who seemingly hypnotized her for a brief instant, as they passed each other in a hotel lobby. I draw a parallel between the "Naval Officer" to Naval Intelligence, a branch of the Armed Forces that has long been an active participant in MK-ULTRA operations.

  • I believe Alice is a victim of Monarch (MK-Ultra) programming. When--toward the end of the film--Dr. Bill's missing mask is discovered upon a pillow next to his sleeping wife, a message has been delivered, clear and simple, by the mind controllers hounding Dr. Bill : They have all along had access to his wife, since the very beginning.

  • das macht

  • Min 0:37 - Look at Alice`s apt carefully as she undresses. IMHO thats the key to the whole movie. Notice that the very next scene with Hartford looking for his sh&%

takes place in the very same room, but oh my little brothers, how things have changed...Whose apt is it really ?

MK-Ultra / mind controlled sex-slaves. Thats what this movie is really all about!!! :o

    Google search : MK-Ultra.

  • So are you saying that Alice is actually undressing in someone's else's apartment? Perhaps her lover's apartment? I thought the two tennis racquets might signify that it is Ziegler as he mentions how he plays tennis later in the movie.

  • "I thought the two tennis racquets might signify that it is Ziegler as he mentions how he plays tennis later in the movie."- xon

    Bingo mutherfu%$er bingooooo!!!!!!!!!

Oh its Alice`s apt alright, my lil brother, but who was her sugar daddy back then ?

  • Very, good point! I love Kubrick films, they'll never die...

  • The old man had lost his touch. Sadly.

  • just how you describe kubrick is demeaning. fuck off!

  • I think its one of his 4 greatest movies

  • show some respect asshole.

  • Yes I am aware of that, it doesn't mean you need to shit on it. If you dislike the film then so be it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but he is one of the greatest directors of all time, thus he deserves some respect.

  • He's got respect where it's due, but people's sycophantic bullshit reverence tends to shout down valid pannings of movies made by celebrated directors that are just crap, this being a prime example.

  • I think you're wrong - I think that was the case for the "AI" Artificial Intelligence movie that he filmed.

  • such a beautiful movie...with great depth. Love this film

  • what music is that playing?

  • Waltz 2 From Jazz Suite (Dimitri Shostakovich)-

  • Compadre...que buen culo!

  • this movie was soooooo amazing then it just ended.... i was freaking out... worst ending ever :/

  • its sad that this was kubricks last film. Would of loved to see him still making movies and his version of A.I.

  • nice on the toilet

  • no offense to some ppl but this movie bored me to death.

  • oh well at least you got to see nicole's butt :)

  • In defense, Kubrick probably would have released a different product had he lived longer. You are right, it wasn't the greatest movie.

  • I don't know. I still think it takes a good couple of watches to actually appreciate this movie's worth. I've always enjoyed it as much as...well, let's say Lolita or some of Kubrick's older movies (You know, the fifty or so that he made with the words Death or Kill in the title).

  • yes that little kick is cute but there is some photo shop thing that could prolong the nude shot for a few seconds more if only more women look like her some 1/3 of what she made for the flim every year for the rest of your lives .

  • Kubrick was brilliant. But why in God's name did he replace Keitel with Pollock? Pollock started out as an actor, but never should've come out from behind the camera after about 1975. He was weak in Tootsie and Michael Clayton, and just plain bad in this film. IMO, it would've been a richer film with Keitel and Jennifer Jason Leigh, whose scenes were cut long after they were shot.

  • This film is endlessly fascinating. We learn from this brief opening scene that Dr. Bill is in search of his identity which he can't locate without his wife, but he neither sees her nor hears her and she is bored by him and resents his distance, among other things. The whole movie is subtextual, unspoken, ambiguous, but more interesting and compelling than any fifty typically literal and overt dumbass Hollywood movies that use every trick to tell you what to feel and think. This movie is art.

  • I also think the use of silences in this movie was excellent. Usually typical Hollywood characters can't stop blathering throughout the movie. In this film, a character speaks, and then there's a considerable silence, which allows the dialogue to really sink in. I think it also adds to the mystique of the film.

  • both you and orsley are more than right

  • @GeneratedCrisis

yeah that seems to be a total signature element of his movies and i love it. it really does add all the more depth to the plot.

  • guy should look like girls

  • Oh My God! PLEASE SOMONE UPLOAD THIS MOVIE!!!!!

  • p.s i wish she would piss on me is that weird

  • Umm... Well... YES!

  • a little...

  • it's not weird. it's completely understandable ...

  • girls should look like girls

  • yo shes relly hot

  • this movie made me obsessed with nicole's perfect behind

  • God Nicole Kidman's ass is amazing

  • was

  • Cruise. Kidman. Kubrick.

That's all you need to know.

  • I loooove how candid the film is...it's very natural epecially the part when kidman is sitting on the toilet. sounds weird but c'mon, you gotta have real guts to be that candid let alone knowing that its being filmmed forever! great movie!
