Why would Elizabeth regret being happy with Will? If she married Icecreamhead, she'd be a slave and miserable for the rest of her life. Icecreamhead only wanted her because 1) she's a rich Governor's daughter 2) she's gorgeous. He wanted her to show off, not to love. I think Elizabeth made the perfect decision to be happy rather than be a slave. I would've ditched Icecreamhead in a heartbeat.

And of course the fact that he died to save her life, even though he knew she loved another man totally supports that point of view.

He didn't die saving her. He wasted her time, forced him self on her before threatening her father in law and trying to shoot her. Either way, she could've died by him. And he didn't give a crap about her before, why would he care now? He signed her death warrant by going to Beckett and then he had her bound to die when he kidnapped her and her men. Why would Elizabeth be happy with him?

Despite the fact that every point you made is very easily discounted, there is really no point in arguing with you. You are obviously biased and will not be convinced of anything due to the fact that your hatred of this character has nothing to do with Norrington himself, but has everything to do with him being the romantic rival of Orlando Bloom's character.
