First off if you're going to make a comparison on hardware at least learn the terminology. "Effective Memory Clock on a 5970 is 1000Mhz or 4.0Gbps on the 6990 it's 1250MHz (5.0Gbps) not 1.0 vs 5.0 Clock rating wtf is that lol , it does have a additional 1.0Gbps which is simple math the extra 250Mhz x4 = 1000Mhz or 1.0 Gbps BTW HD 5870 (which I have) is 1200MHz (4.8Gbps) not much of a leap!

i dont get this. bought a 5770 last year, it has 2 DVI 1 HDMI and 1 DP

5970 has 2 DVI and 1 MDP

6990 has 1DVI and 4 MDP.

u also need 1 monitor to be connected thru the DP port, in order to use EYEFINITI.

I searched all over internet and the only monitors that have DP is overprised DELL screens.

Why does ATI insist in using DPs when so few screens use it?

Again the gpu is defrend if you compare it and not forget the new technic inside the card its not just a copy of the hd5970. The 6990 is faster in every way however there is indeed some benchmark that the 5970 is better (in some games) but i think i blame the drivers for that. :) and no iam not a trol. i have 2xhd5970 oc edition from sapphire. :) the running great!

The 5970 is DUAL GPU as well, with 1600 stream processors on each die for a total of 3200 stream processors. The way he explained it made it seem like it was single a single GPU, 3200 stream processor card. He is correct with the dual 1536 stream processor spec on the 6990 though, with a total of 3,072 stream processors.

I heard so many wrong statements in this video, it made my head spin.

The 5970 has 2GB GDDR5 clocked at 1GHz with an effective clock speed of 4000MHz. The 6990 has 4GB GDDR5 clocked at 1250MHz with an effective clock speed of 5000MHz. He also completely missed the additional wattage rating via the PCI-E slot. The 5970 is rated for a max TDP of 298 watts, while the 6990 is rated for a max TDP of 375 watts. The 6990 also runs hotter than the 5970. It's also the only card louder than a GTX 480.

Elric ome on, Ok, just so everyone knows. All video cards using GDDR5 memory have an effective memory clock four times the actual clock speed. The 5970 had a memory clock of 1000MHz so the effective speed is 4000MHz while the new 6990 has an actual memory clock of 1250 so effective speed of 5000MHz. All the modern cards AKA Radeon 5000 series and GeForce 400 series cards and later all use GDDR5 memory which always has an effective clock speed 4x the actual clock speed.
