  • you just a boy you should'nt say nothing like that

  • billy bob is a genius and one of america's finest actors. you would never know lucas black has acting chops like this watching fast and furious

  • From diggin holes to driftin cars but this scene is awesome and one of the best ever made.

  • 3 people call it a sling blade, i call it a kaiser blade.

  • this is the only movie I like BillyBob in....it is so touching.

  • I love this movie because I think many people can relate to it on some level. We all just want to reach out to someone we have something in common with who will love us and whom we can also love.

  • hmmm-huh

  • Scruffy? You're a cartoon!Get back into Futurama where you belong you silly old janitor!

  • Frank: "A boy my age shouldn't be tired of things"

    He was sooo right...

  • This scene kills me :(

Never date anyone with young kids. You don't just break up with one person. You have no visitation rights. For some reason it reminds me of my situation.

  • That kid had the funniest line in the movie The War, with his southern accent; PEEEE YEWWW it smells like a BUTT in HERE!

  • @dander337 and his other funny line from The War, "If you don't honest up Billy, we're gonna scrub you down with lipstick so everyone thinks you got diaper rash, how 'bout it!"

  • @pcquest12 LOL. Yes.

  • Sling Blade sounds like scruffy the janitor from futurama

  • Wonderful movie! I saw it when it came out & have watched it several times since. The acting across the board was superb. Tha cast was so believable. The late John Ritter's performance was, I believe his best. Easily one of the Top 10 of the 1990's

  • I always cry on this scene :'(

  • @adorableKiddo128 me too, every damn time i reckon

  • This is like a father and son being together. I really feel sorry for people who negative in regards to this scene being something other than what it is intended to be. Do me a favor and stay away from children yourselves.

  • This is one of the most touching parts of the movie. A grown man can "love" a boy without it being lecherous, people!

  • Pedo? He lost a little brother he never got to know and Frank lost a Dad he got to know.

Not point explaining to retards though. Karl is more intelligent than those posting pedo.

  • I'm only going off of the last few comments... Are there really people who call this a "pedo scene"??? That speaks volumes about your intelligence, and your reasoning. EVERYTHING is out to get your kids now, right? EVERYBODY is out to poon your litte shitty spoiled kid in the butt-noggin. Yeah fucking right, get a grip.

  • i killed my mother mmhm

  • Anyone know the name of the score that is played here? I don't think it's on the soundtrack.

  • how could anyone dislike this video?

  • how could anyone dislike this video?

  • i reckin imma kill you

  • If anyone can remember, Karl says his feelings about homosexuality to John Ritter who played Vaughan Cunningham! This wasn't intended to be a "pedo" scene! that shows the mentality of some people!

  • This part of the movie isn't intended to be "disgusting"! That just shows the mentality of some people! This an awesome movie with some great actors!

  • Lucas Black is a sexy sum bitch now, I reckon. mmmhmmm.

  • Lucas Blake is a sexy sum bitch now, I reckon. mmhhmm.

  • Yes....this is the guy from Tokyo Drift....as a kid, of course.

  • For those who think this movie is supposed to be funny.....life will continue to be difficult for you.

  • Is the kid the same actor from The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift?

  • mhhm

  • This is a awesome movie.

    Touch something in everyone !

  • Poor lil fellar

  • Sounds like Scruffy the Janitor from Futurama!!

  • Every abused child like this needs a friend, one who can save them. What an awesome movie!!!!

  • The music in this scene destroys me.

  • This is one of the best movies ever made

  • sling blade is soo awsome mmmmhhmmmm

  • did he get an oscar for this?

  • If a person (Billy Bob Thornton) can create ONE thing in their life as good as this, then they can be proud enough...

  • Perfect.

  • is the kid the guy frm tokyo drift??

  • @mrnikered yup. he doesnt cair about making films eather. Wants to be a bass fisherman.

  • @mrnikered he was on the show "American Gothic" and a few other movies. I'm not sure about Tokyo Drift.

  • @mrnikered Yes that's him, Lucas Black. He was also in Jarhead.

  • TCB wasn't Elvis' motto...it was Carl's!

  • I think I was 13 or 14 when i saw this and I'll never forget how it effected me. I cried like crazy.

  • my dad had a southern accent:-)

  • this is why the south gets a bad reputation. we aren't all like Carl. Just half of us

  • God that's beautiful. Thornton has a depth in this scene that feels impossible to imitate. He's good throughout this film, but THIS is a magnum opus; the beauty and gentility conveyed by Bob. It's incredible.

  • I love Carl.

  • Ever since this amazing film that only comes around once in a decade, I'm always telling my sister at the closing of a phone conversation,

    'All right, then'

  • What a special scene. So beautiful. It seems so strange how their friendship is so simple and natural compared to regular adult friendships which have all kinds of politics and games. I need a friend like Karl or the boy, please.

  • I didn't know Lucas black was in this. He an Billy bob are also in Friday night lights.

  • a grown man can talk to a boy without pedophilia involved. Get ur mind out of the gutter.

  • You know, I didn't realize that till now, but Lucas Black is turning out to be quite an effective actor.

  • This was the scene you knew Carl was going to kill that son of a bitch. Very powerful scene.

  • Is the Older Gentlemen his real Father

  • @dynasticmatt95 no,just good friends

  • @ArBiTeR0000Tactical

You might think that from this "I love you, boy" part, but no, it doesn't take on any pedophile feel at all

  • @whatsername707 would you want him hanging around your 8 year old kid? Not to mention being best friends with a 40 year old man, and he wanted to put his arm on his shoulder to hold him closely.

  • @whatsername707 The people who call it that are retarded

  • @ArBiTeR0000Tactical

no, and you saying that gives you an

    EPIC FAIL !

  • @ArBiTeR0000Tactical The boy represents carls brother, it's a brotherly love....nothin gay you homo.

  • @ArBiTeR0000Tactical nasty ass person! You ARE!

  • ridinfmf - I had the same experience. last night Its the best movie ever !

  • I've always wondered why the last word all of the characters say is "Carl?" From the boy, to Doyle, "Carl" is the last thing they say. Awesome movie, one of the best ever.

  • The best movie i ever seen and that was the first time isee movie for Mr Thornton but i saved his name and the movie name from the first time and i won't forget it its the best and i heard that it Osakr awarded as the best actor.

  • Wrong aspect ratio.

  • can uupload the whole thing?

  • Thornton shows his absolutely unbelievable range in this astoundingly profound film. Written, produced and acted straight from the heart. This one is in my permanent movie collection. A triumph for the film industry, SLING BLADE shows what the possibilities are in connecting with the souls of intelligent people - a far cry from JACKASS.

  • The most touching scene from the movie! On the DVD, Billy Bob comments that he got choked up when the boy held his hand...In spite of other comments, I HATED all the scenes with Doyle; I fast-forward over them...And this was an amazing performance by Billy Bob--Oscar-worthy!

  • i think this just shows how GREAT of an actor billy bob is. He can go from this to bad santa. it's amazing

  • On the other hand, Carl had no family, except a degenerated, crippled father. The only way Carl was able to adapt to a world he never knew was through this boy.

  • In essence, the boy was Carl's world, hence his love for the boy. Without the boy, maybe Carl would have found an "outlet" to where he could fit in. Carl knew the boy's circumstances of not having any sort of father figure, except a constantly drunk and abusive step dad, so it's interesting to see a handicapped Carl take on a responsibility of being a father figure. Such a beautiful movie, perfectly illustrating some of the real problems in society, and never exaggerating the truth.

  • so human and such civility -- from this retarded man we could all learn a lot. would any one of us do the wrong thing -- but the only thing we knew -- to quickly fix this boy's problems and sacrifice our freedom for him? the law is slow anyway and i could see this slipping though the cracks of child welfare and the boy and his mom could have ended up dead, instead of doyle. great actors great movie. something to ponder.

  • bob thorton should have not put the i love you there, the hug was enough. however, this scene makes me cry anyway. Beautiful.

  • @thisisgrey

So what's wrong with him saying that he loves the boy?

  • @lucidatheist that they love each other is implicit in all the gestures between the two. Saying it seems redundant, obvious and unrealistic. I wouldn't see a bet up lonely kid and a man with no family who spent his whole life in an asilum verbalizing his feelings so openly.

It would have looked much authentic if he didn't say "i love you boy" and just give the kid his books and put his arm around him, that was all the scene needed.

    Nevertheless, the scene is superb.

  • @thisisgrey Without the "I love you" line it would be so incomplete.. definitely..

  • A cinematic masterpiece. I can go on forever about this film. Mr. Thorton does possess great creative skills. An all-time favorite.

  • Does anybody know the background score to this scene?

  • @Shinchibi that's daniel lanois

  • Thank you, but would you mind telling me the score?

  • No idea man. Guess you'd have to buy the original soundtrack to find out.

  • S'why I'm asking. It's not on there.

  • i can do the best immitation of carl

  • Same here lol its the body language that really sets it off :D

  • get rid of the spoiler in the description, this is a great movie! Thanks for uploading this touching scene.

  • I think everyone who watched Sling Blade knew how it was going to end.

  • Right, the seeds of tragedy are there. It's great to let the film clue you in instead of knowing before you go in. :]

  • lol as soon as that Doyle opened his mouth for the first time I thought to myself, "Karl's gonna kill that guy!"

  • Yeah I feel you on that one. The seeds of tragedy our planted before our eyes--a bit like in Othello.

  • Friendship and love...

  • Touching...

  • So sad... :-(

  • The way the boy says "I love you, too" is absolute perfection. Great scene in a great movie.

  • This entire scene moves me to tears. Billy Bob Thornton really got robbed at the Oscars. Not that the Oscars matter, I don't watch "Titanic" and get misty-eyed!!!!!!!

  • can somebody or someone upload the entire movie on youtube in parts!! I will be gladly be thankful if you did!!!

  • this movie me laugh a shit load lol.. awesome movie. i like the lawn mower blade scene when he calls 911. hmm hm.. i reckon lol

  • GREAT MOVIE!!!!

  • this is absolutely the greatest movie

it made me cry when i saw it

  • ...I laughed when I saw it :) great movie

  • I actually found this movie to be quite funny. Some do. It is a great movie but I found it great in a humorous way and not so much in a serious way. Billy Bob kicks butt.

  • BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIMES! hands down

  • I'm glad of it you were borned...

  • Great film. My personal favorite. Just for this scene, alone.

  • Thornton says that he almost began to cry when the boy put his hand on his. That was not planned and caught Thornton by surprise. He said it was so touching when it happened. You can hear his voice begin to crack a bit at the end of the clip.

  • this was a great movie by billie bob, he could have made himself a loyal following and this movie would have been up with all other cult movies, i would have put him up with major directors if he kept at this pace.

  • i love that part

  • i lov this movie 1 of my favz for sure!

  • i love ya boy

  • hed wup the tar outta me

  • I know the good book says it aint right for two men to lay together but you been pretty square dealin by me

  • Okay, This IS the best movie i have ever seen. I actually cried when I saw this seen. I have never cried during a film before. No joke. I saw it for the first time Yesterday night and I stayed up longer than I had to. The movie started I don't know when. It ended At 1:15 am. I stayed up untill 2:30 thinking about it in complet silence.

  • Not funny 'ha-ha', funny queer.

  • That had to be the most moving thing I've ever read in youtube comment box.

  • You are right. Slingblade is a stunningly original movie, and there is nothing like it. When you view it in another 10 years, it will likely take on a different meaning. You may see that while Doyle was a hideous character, he was a victim himself in many ways. Did he deserve to die? The answer after seeing the film once is a quick and vigorous yes. In 10 years, you may be conflicted on that point. Great art changes when viewed through different eyes at different times in your life. A great film

  • Me, too, ridinfmf. I just watched it again last night.

  • saw this *scene*

    *complete* silence

  • It is strange that I've found a lot of great movies late at night. That really is the best time to watch great films. I found this one many years ago in the middle of the night as well. I've seen it at least 5 times since then.

  • @ridinfmf

its an amazing film, only saw it for first time other night, amazing film and sends such a poweful message, so sad

  • @ridinfmf same here. I got all teary eyed the first time I saw it and im a dude. NEVER thought a movie would do that to me. Billy Bob did a great job

  • @ridinfmf true fucking say, he kills doyle knowing he'll never be let out again, so sacrifices himself for the boy. Cant really say anything to that really

  • @ridinfmf I cried when Carl talked about having to bury his little brother alive. The music score that was used for that scene worked perfectly. We love this movie and have watched it at least 200 times. One of my all-time favorites!

  • What an emotionally absorbing film. 9.5/10

  • is this the only movie which billy bob is a good idol for children? "you just a boy you not use language like that"

  • What ya kill jesse for?

    What ya kill jesse for?

    lol

  • I like the way you talk

  • A powerful movie that I will never forget.

  • I doesn't matter at which point in the movie I catch it on tv, I always seem to watch it to the end.

  • u just a boy u oughy not use language like that

  • "I love ye, boy"

    *CRY!!!*

  • One of the only times I've ever cried during a movie is when Karl puts his arm around Frank.

    Cutest scene ever.

  • wow billy bob minds the kids language.

check out bad santa she how much of an idol he is.

  • hick!

  • It's on DirecTV often

  • I wish sombody could post this entire movie
