i loveall ur videos!! i currently have a set of rp tp irons and am thinking of changing to titleist 710. i dont see and reviews of the ap2 vs the cb's. im a 6 handycap and would love an opinion or review from you..
I'm a 7.1 H/C Index and have hit a road block in my lower scores and need new irons to hit more greens and make more birdies. I was thinking of
1) Mizuno JPX 800 PRO
2)Titleist AP2
3)Mizuno MP 53/63 and
4) Titleist CB (recommended by friend)
Which would you recommend? JPX 800 Pro will give me some forgivness on off center hits and give me some confidence looking down but I'm not sure. The other irons just look so pure and classic.
Those clubs remind me a lot of my old 990's...which I lost some years ago but were the best clubs I EVER had! Guess it's time to get a new set I figure!
hey, i'm 15years old and a 13 hcp. do you think the titleist CB's will improve my game? I now play wilsons with a stiff graphite shaft and i need steel shafted irons. (btw, i want slight or even non-offset clubs, because i tend to hook a bit with clubs that have offset...) or will i be better with the AP2's or Mizuno MP58's or something like that? I'm just afraid that if I take like the AP2's, i will need less forgiving clubs after 1-2 years..
@frankierofanneke go with the ap1's there better for you. you dont need tour quality irons yet. when you get in to single digit handicap then look at tour quality irons.
@masturbates966 Yes i do. Look at my vids duh!!! And I found the Mizuno Mp 57s too easy to hit and way too much offset and the 57s are comparable to the cbs so i got mbs. Obviously ur a jealous tool.
If the CB irons have a bit higher launch wouldn't it be better than the blades because it would land softer? Is there really that much difference in controlability between the CBs and MBs? Mabey choose 7-PW MBs and 3-6 irons CBs?
@JAKEHARRIS281 Good call although I am thinking 3-5 CB then 6-PW MB. I noticed on the Titleist website the difference between the CB/MB are only on the longer irons, the mid/short have identical loft/lie/offset.
@iiredeye I would suggest that you also try the Ap2s and compare them to the CB and MB. Many pros have only full sets of Ap2s. Don't ignore them. Test them as well.
@JAKEHARRIS281 I havn't ignored, them a friend has a set. I'm not a huge fan. Probably because I currently play Mizuno blades, so the AP's look a bit chunky to me. But the MB/CB look very nice.
@JAKEHARRIS281 No I use DGS300, I have tried Project X, but they are a bit light for me, and I get a much more penetrating flight with DG. I also like the Rifle shafts, but I will probably stick with DG.
@iiredeye Are they considered low trajectory. I'm playing mid to high trajectory Titleist 105T Pros with the new AP1s. I got them around 9 months ago because i was a beginner, but now I'm better and they are way too chuncky. I wish I got the CB or AP2s. And I swing mabey a bit faster than average, so don't you think the ball be be going too high?
@JAKEHARRIS281 I wish it was that simple mate, it's far more complex than that. The best thing you will ever do is get a custom fit, the "Titleist fitting works" is awesome, but you need a day up there. I would suggest that because you're new (ish) to the game, I wouldn't change your clubs for quite some time. Your swing will change several times in the first 5 years anyway, and then once your game is settled, you can get a fitting, and those clubs will last you for years. Good luck with it.
@JAKEHARRIS281 I use a Titleist 907D2 10.5, fitted with a proforce V2 stiff flex shaft. Distance depends on conditions on a wet fairway obviously it's a lot shorter than a bone dry summer fairway. I get about 260 yards of carry, the callaway with standard fit fujikura stiff flex shaft I used to have created far to much spin which resulted in the ball ballooning up in the air. Now I get loads of run on my ball and upto about 320yrds in the summer, fitting really works mate.
@iiredeye I don't get any roll at all. I have a 9.5 Tour Taylormade Burner 08 with stiff flex. Did you ever try the Diamana Blue or White driver shafts? I see alot of pros using them, but they are $200 and your proforce V2 is much cheaper. I have 105 mph swing speed so I'm hoping to get fit and get a low trajectory shaft, and mabey I can get 20+ yards of roll. I just don't know where to get fit.
@JAKEHARRIS281 Diamana Blue is an awesome shaft, the white is really hardcore, only really suited to the fastest of swings. I have demo'd the Blue in reg flex and was getting some really nice results. For fitting go to Titleist web site click on fitting works, and you can find your nearest centre. in the UK it cost about £30, but then once you have the info you can take it and buy whatever clubs you want.
im a 12 HC and i just ordered the CB. i hit the new ap2's and the cb's felt better. the ap2's felt a little numb but thats the forgiveness in the club. i want to become a better golfer and better my swing. having said that, i want to feel my mistakes and feel my clean hits.

CB's for the very advanced player (low handy) but no time for 3 practice sessions per week.
