4 stroke sleds are definately the sickest sounding things iv ever heard! too bad 2 strokes are on their last leg theyre great but 2 stroke owners including myself lets just hope we dont see one of these beasts fly by us out on the trail.wow.
@RonniesGarage Idkk man. THese things are nuts for suree. My uncle has a 2010 FX Nytro and we have a '00 Polaris XC 700, and our races are pretty neck and neck. Ill always love the sound of a 2 stroke more tho, personally
@Vashie0 i mostly ride dirtbikes and i know for sure id choose a 2stroke over a 4 stroke for bikes even if the new 4's are faster the violent powerband of a 2 stroke is much more enjoyable. and thats good to know because ive got a 1999 Polaris XC 700 SP lol. my first sled and damn it moves! just gotta rejet th carbs she aint runnin to good past 80mph. is your sled carb'd or efi?
@RonniesGarage Its carb'd...i believee. Im relatively young, and we bought the sled used, so i still dont know too much about it, except for one thing. It is scary fastt. Hahaha. We went from an 86 Skidoo 355 or somethin to this...and it is quite the upgrade! Weve had quite a few problems with it so far tho
@RonniesGarage I don't think 2 strokes are on their last leg. A friend's sled broke when we went out riding and he had to rent. He had a vector one day, and a phazer the next. Neither sled were worth a crap compared to even my 600. The vector did have decent power, and was ok on trails that was it. The phazer was very underpowered and incredibly tippy.
@bigstudtommy93 yes i agree the power too weight ratio of a 2 stroke is great. but in time the 4 strokes will have their way they did in motocross and quads but theres nothing like the smell of premix and. the look of some guy on a $10 000 4 stroke sled getting passed by an old xc700sp!! hahaha. and yes the new 4 strokes are a bit heavy but so were the first 4 stroke quads and mx bikes sadly in time they will be superior.
its funny the brand loyalty wars on sleds its soooo childish.
All four of the big manufacturers make good sleds, but whats a good sled for one person is a horrible sled for another, find the one that suits you best and enjoy.
Im a 4stroke fan and wouldn't own 2 stroke but that doesn't mean Im right and they are wrong it just means we like different things
Im a Yamaha and Ski Doo nut, every part on them is a work of art, which i cannot say about a arcticcat or polaris. They all make good sleds though and i would be happy to own any of them
for you guys who think skidoo is the best, your wrong, i know this because i own one currently. 2005 mach z 1000, lots of nice features, but just after 3000 miles, it blew up, cost me 4000$, doesnt seem like 4 stroke yamahas are having this problem, this year i bought an apex.... end of story.
Ski doos are a solid sled, Now if we are on the topic of junk sleds Arctic cat needs to be brought up. Hands down the worst sled as far as reliability and service.
hahahahah SkidooFan9....skidoos are NOT the most realiable sled out there all sleds blow up, skidoos just do it more then others, all my buddys own skidoos, and there JUNK they barely get down the driveway before they blow up
The 1200 4 stroke ski doo is a piece of shit,I rode one,all I can say is junk,I do own a 08 nytro, there is no comparison.Ski doo guys know what I'm talking about if you have one.....(junk)
You act like 240hp in a 600lb machine is some kind of unheard of performance benchmark. I'm here to tell you, it isn't. I find 4-strokes boring, you're going to tell me what I find interesting? fuck off clown
Weren't we on the topic of boredom? Power to weight ratio, or your opinion on interests wasn't brought up. Look, I respect your opinion and I don't disagree with the issue you have with the weight. But like I said, how can you be bored riding a sled with that much power.
haha is this a joke??!! Yamaha always has been and continues to be the most reliable, ski-doo= least reliable by far is what i think you meant to say.
YAMAHA saw what the future will require and went 4 stroke early and now it is paying off for them... they have truly mastered the art of the 4 stroke sled no matter what the riding terrain
4 strokes are for cars, reliable, heavy, long lasting, slow. 2 strokes are for sleds, quick, light, fast, powerfull, and you wont be sweating your ball sack off at the end of the day from the weight
you can't possibly be talking about the new ski doo 4 tech 1200? because that has about the same power as a 600 and would get murdered by a thundercat and they would both get killed by a turbo apex
oh ok i didnt know everyone i talk to about em' says they r pretty fast my bad didnt know my facts but yeah i dnt get the big deal about the thundercats they'r kinda ugly
I picked Yamaha for the value. It is worth more after two or three years compared to the others. The 1200 will turn out to be a great sled but I think they need a more intense motor to take away from Yamaha. The super charger from the 1200 seadoo bolted up to the 1200XP! This is what Yamaha needs as well. Can't deny the light weight advantages. For drag speed going up hill or on the flat I think the 800R takes the cake. It is carburated. That motor will fade away as it is not E-Tec or I-Tec.
i love the sound at the beginning when they all take off. i used to have an apex turbo and those things are crazy, i want to ride a nytro turbo to see how they are
haha yeah right nno arctic cat or ski doo would come even close to touching these sleds and hows does the apex have more of an advantage when its heavier, besides the nytro won
HA! yes man i know! Like when you beat a summit 800 UPHILL on a 4 stroke fx nytro RTX (which isnt the mountain version) thats sad that they still think skidoo is better lol I know I have a turbo but still, even b4 I did I was still beating 800's LOL
There is a guy up here with a whole junk yard full of Skidoo parts. I never seen so many old skidoo's before. The Artic Cats I don't think are worth keeping for parts. You would need too much space to store everything.
Skidoo has got to be number 1 or 2 for top sled dog. Polaris has adopted several great things from BRP including RER. The closest thing to a true snowcross sled you can get is from skidoo. Second is Yamaha. When you buy Yamaha your buying a motor first. With BRP they have a great handling sled but the motors are prone to failure, not talking the 1200.
hmmm. ok then I guess it is settled. The Yamahas suck and it is like having a wife on the back when you ride one. Ski-Doo is better in snocross, trails, mountains, lakes and woods. That is why they have #1 market share. I will still vote for the 2009 Nytro as the most kick ass sled of the year.
grab the new snowest mag theres a deep powder challenge.......the xp smokes the apexs makes the 99 foot climbs look easy while the apxs die at 300 feet lol so much for the apex rage when it comes to the vertical powder theres just no compare.......snowest was amazed just how much difference there was..apex150hp dry weight 632 lbs wet 694...xp151hp 154 inch dry 456lbs wet 530lbs....how can it have a chance against that lol...164 lbs heavier like havin the wife on with ya lmao
yamahas are tanks...why the hell would you want to be in the mountains with one...the other three main sled makers are so much lighter i don't care what you say. when your in the mountains it's not fun diggin out those bastered. the m's,revs, and i.qs are so much nicer
Unless you were on the Ski-Doo Rev. platform development team and are totally tainted from your project involvement- you have no reason to mock the Yami. I would suggest you ride the new 2009 Doo, 3 cyl. four-stroke machine. Because if you did that you would realize that Yamaha is so progressive that the others, including Doo, are scrambling to catch up with the engine technology. The Doo is awesome and maybe even better in the mountains but the Yami is the cats meow and everyone knows it.
ski doo is no where near scrambling to catch up with engine tech. they've headed in a different direction. i'm gonna guarantee that your 4 stroke cant get the mileage an 800 ptek can even though they have the same power. you may have more torque, but the 800 has got you by 100 lbs. if anyone is scrambling it's yamaha to put those good engines into a light frame with suspension that feels like it's from this decade.
If you read the thread above - you would see that I love Ski-Doo. My good friend was on the platform deveopment team in Canada. They are releasing a 4 stroke in 2009 for a reason and it was indeed a scramble. Yes Yamaha is working on the weight but for a large % of riders it is not a factor - especially with a 300HP supercharged mountain sled. Even trail sledders are ok with it. What is the different direction you are talking about? Not the engine - because it will be a 4 stroke - promise.
ski doo didnt nail shit with the 4 tech its a huge peice of shit.......like come one its 1200cc and has as much horse as a 600 and they expect to compete with the apex's with that how?....the nytros destroy those 4 techs
Lower performance = Higher engine reliability. Sure, I agree that they would've added a couple of horsepower but when putting a turbo on it, it gets CRAZY.. That engine got potencial for very many horsepowers if it gets in a skilled tuners hand.
so does a yamaha, don't you have better things to do then go on a yamaha video and talk shit about yamaha and try to tell us ski-doo is better.
do you really think that if someone prefers yamaha over ski-doo they will change their minds after reading some comments on a youtube video? and if they do they obviously dont know shit.
oh i am sorry, i did not realize i was talking to the language police, i will keep this short, since you probably have a very busy life checking every comment for some sort of mistake.
get a life looser!
p.s. your room is very messy you should be ashamed of yourself too.

I have no clue which comment your replying to ..but if your throwing ski doo slurs actually they turn a ring around 3000 miles lol..and with 4 years engine coverage i could give a damn..turned 3 rings on my 800 mxz x one at 3000 Mi one at 6000 Mi and one at 9000 Mi..so at 11.5 k when the warrenty ran out i put new rings :-)...hurt one wall in the process on the second turned ring...didnt burn down once, all ring slipping issues..dont like that piston design BUT just ordered another like it lol
ya hilldill snowest finishes their deep powder challeng article saying you better be on an xp if you dont want to spend a night in a snow cave lol...the 800 foot hill they were trying the xp would do in 33 seconds while the apex lasted 14 seconds for get this a total of 209 feet ....you apex guys can take em and stick em lmao...know what im buying next year....they need to buy the extra 25 lbs of turbo and void warrenty just to come close to an xp lol
to bad the suspension goes smash first jump you hit watch my may 27 vid same jump we all hit the apex broke...love the sled still just needs an aftermarket suspension if you plan to use the thing...loads of torque stock turbo makes it sick ...on the lake or straight up
yea dumass, its got 12 less horse but also 90lbs less weight!i heard the stock nytro is supposed to go as good as last years 800 rev for weight and power
hey japex911, YOUR A RETARD! it wouldn't lose because it has less horsepower! the chassis is completely different and it's lighter too, thus it is comparable to the apex. don't say anything unless you know what you're saying!
actually, the nytro would win because of the weight ratio. if you turned the turbo up on the apex, it would kick the nytro's butt. the nytro weighs fifty or so less pounds, so that 12 horsepower doesnt make a difference. when you add the weight, the apex gobbles up those extra horepower, leaving it slower then the nytro! thanks
@cdtank1 a z1 turbo would get raped by these sleds

Not the engine - because it will be a 4 stroke - promise.

ya now the relaeased that 4 stroke......AND its a huge peice of shit.....yamaha rules the 4 stroke everyone else mise well quit trying
idodonuts 2 years ago
It took Yamaha ~4 years to get a proper 4-stroke.
Ski-doo nailed it the first year.
xlas 2 years ago
ski doo didnt nail shit with the 4 tech its a huge peice of shit.......like come one its 1200cc and has as much horse as a 600 and they expect to compete with the apex's with that how?....the nytros destroy those 4 techs
idodonuts 2 years ago
Lower performance = Higher engine reliability. Sure, I agree that they would've added a couple of horsepower but when putting a turbo on it, it gets CRAZY.. That engine got potencial for very many horsepowers if it gets in a skilled tuners hand.
xlas 2 years ago
so does a yamaha, don't you have better things to do then go on a yamaha video and talk shit about yamaha and try to tell us ski-doo is better.
do you really think that if someone prefers yamaha over ski-doo they will change their minds after reading some comments on a youtube video? and if they do they obviously dont know shit.
so save it.

Just telling you that the Skidoo 1200 is what took Yamaha 4 years..
By the way you're from Canada, learn some proper English. You should be ashamed.

oh i am sorry, i did not realize i was talking to the language police, i will keep this short, since you probably have a very busy life checking every comment for some sort of mistake.
get a life looser!
p.s. your room is very messy you should be ashamed of yourself too.

ide rather the new e tec its cleaner than the 4 stroke lighter and only needs a tank of oil every 600-1000 miles

I have no clue which comment your replying to ..but if your throwing ski doo slurs actually they turn a ring around 3000 miles lol..and with 4 years engine coverage i could give a damn..turned 3 rings on my 800 mxz x one at 3000 Mi one at 6000 Mi and one at 9000 Mi..so at 11.5 k when the warrenty ran out i put new rings :-)...hurt one wall in the process on the second turned ring...didnt burn down once, all ring slipping issues..dont like that piston design BUT just ordered another like it lol

ya hilldill snowest finishes their deep powder challeng article saying you better be on an xp if you dont want to spend a night in a snow cave lol...the 800 foot hill they were trying the xp would do in 33 seconds while the apex lasted 14 seconds for get this a total of 209 feet ....you apex guys can take em and stick em lmao...know what im buying next year....they need to buy the extra 25 lbs of turbo and void warrenty just to come close to an xp lol

nice, i was just looking at nytros and apex's today. i got an artic cat mountain cat 600, but the nyrto kicks its butt
Sledderanddirtbiker 4 years ago
to bad the suspension goes smash first jump you hit watch my may 27 vid same jump we all hit the apex broke...love the sled still just needs an aftermarket suspension if you plan to use the thing...loads of torque stock turbo makes it sick ...on the lake or straight up
jsmallwood2007 4 years ago
i love fucking turbos they are sick
gregnuna 4 years ago
yea dumass, its got 12 less horse but also 90lbs less weight!i heard the stock nytro is supposed to go as good as last years 800 rev for weight and power
nudemonkeydude 4 years ago
hey japex911, YOUR A RETARD! it wouldn't lose because it has less horsepower! the chassis is completely different and it's lighter too, thus it is comparable to the apex. don't say anything unless you know what you're saying!
Kstorm88 4 years ago
If they were running equal amounts of boost the apex would win, the nytro is probably set up to have 250 horse and the apex only set up for 225 or so
jusp69 2 years ago 2
no in this race it came down to wieght and the nytro is a lil bit lighter then the apex thats y it won
idodonuts 2 years ago
Only if yamaha didnt de-tune the nytro's because they were beating the apex's.just think how kick ass they would be
driftrider28 4 years ago
i love nytros
yamaharules163 4 years ago
dude the nytro has 12 less horses it would lose
Jaypex911 4 years ago
actually, the nytro would win because of the weight ratio. if you turned the turbo up on the apex, it would kick the nytro's butt. the nytro weighs fifty or so less pounds, so that 12 horsepower doesnt make a difference. when you add the weight, the apex gobbles up those extra horepower, leaving it slower then the nytro! thanks
Sledderanddirtbiker 4 years ago
bullshit man i own an apex rx1 and a nytro and neither touch the apex
