Hamilton is the best to watch in F1. But!! In the last 2 seasons he's not been as impresiveas as in 07-08 & 09. I think since he split from his dad and spends alot of time in L.A he does'nt seem be as focused as he used to. If he took the same aproach as Schumi did in his dominant years (his whole first career) then he would realy up his game and have better results. His car has been capable of winning more GP's this year, but his on and off track decissions have cost him wins.

I went back and watched a ton of SENNA videos and then re-watched the Hamilton ones... They have a very similar driving style and you can see it even more when he is in traffic..
Undoubtedly the best Formula 1 racer today. No matter what anyone else says, he beat a 2X WDC in equal machinery in rookie year, the countless overtakes, the fast out/in laps, if for a bit more luck he'd be 3X WDC by now.

Whether you're a bit in front, precisely abreast or a bit behind. He often pushes people off the track even when he's BEHIND (his nose further back than the opponent's nose), both when he is overtaking or being overtaken. And I've seen all the races since the 1978 season. They're on the net, if you're interested.

Forcing another driver to break the rules is like breaking the rules yourself.

The difference is that 2011 rules expressly state that deliberate crowding off the track is banned. It used to be unwritten, just logical.

@AlexGRFan97 Dude, I agree in some aspects, I think the best ever F1 driver was Aryton Senna, if only he decided to not race that day... (which he said he didnt want to race). But Hamilton, is very Senna like, goes for gaps that are there. "if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing, competing to win" - Aryton Senna. Thats only a section of that quote.. One thing Hamilton can't be criticised of is not being exciting..

Hamilton is the best to watch in F1. But!! In the last 2 seasons he's not been as impresiveas as in 07-08 & 09. I think since he split from his dad and spends alot of time in L.A he does'nt seem be as focused as he used to. If he took the same aproach as Schumi did in his dominant years (his whole first career) then he would realy up his game and have better results. His car has been capable of winning more GP's this year, but his on and off track decissions have cost him wins.

Undoubtedly the best Formula 1 racer today. No matter what anyone else says, he beat a 2X WDC in equal machinery in rookie year, the countless overtakes, the fast out/in laps, if for a bit more luck he'd be 3X WDC by now.

If he gains the racing line by overtaking them on the inside line, the car he overtaken should either slow down or be forced off track. Don't watch F1 much do you?

@TehNoobWhoPlaysHalo He has to leave anybody a full car width room to the edge of the track (the line) at all times. Deliberate forcing off the track is illegal (2011 sporting rules). Whether you're a bit in front, precisely abreast or a bit behind. He often pushes people off the track even when he's BEHIND (his nose further back than the opponent's nose), both when he is overtaking or being overtaken. And I've seen all the races since the 1978 season. They're on the net, if you're interested.

And even the curbs are NOT a part of the track (2011 sporting rules), unlike the white line, and you must stay on the track with at least some wheels at all times (unless you make a genuine error, but in that case, you MUST NOT gain any advantage - i.e. cutting the chicane, Hamilton Spa 2008 style). Forcing another driver to break the rules is like breaking the rules yourself.

@TehNoobWhoPlaysHalo For example, what Schumacher did to Rubens in Hungary 2010 was too much. And it doesn't matter that there was a wall and that it was physically dangerous. The white line is the edge of the track and he was pushing Rubens beyond that point. From the rules standpoint, THAT was his offence. He also asked about the lines and pit wall at Monza and was explained that there must be no driving or forcing anyone beyond the white line. And that was even before 2011 rule clarification.

For example, what Lewis did in Germany 2011 to Webber was precisely the same thing - he was being passed by Mark and pushed him off the track. He didn't leave enough room for Mark to stay. ANYONE can stay in front or get in front using dirty ways. PROPER racers don't resort to crap like that. The difference is that 2011 rules expressly state that deliberate crowding off the track is banned. It used to be unwritten, just logical.

But when a part of his car is beside your car, you must not push him off the track. And Lewis frequently, too frequently, does that. From time to time, you could blame a driver error, racing incident, etc. But with Lewis, there is a clear PATTERN of such behaviour. He needs to get rid of that. He's too fast to be a coward...

just bcuz vettel is in the faster car doesn't mean he's not a faster driver. eitherway, hamiltons passing is #1. if they all had the same car, it would be hamilton & vettel @ the front & Alonso near last place. of course hamilton would win everytime. vettel can't pass. he got stuck behind massa last sunday & let hamilton hold him up from catching Alonso @ silverstone. that makes hamilton the best without question

Think about it, he's been reported as to saying that if he doesn't win another championship he wont stay at Mclaren because he wants to win, which he is doing in a car thats quite clearly not cable of doing so (winning races I mean). My guesses is that if he does leave at the end of the season, either Ferrari or Red Bull will be signing him and if they do, especially Red Bull, Just watch. Because i can tell you now, Hamilton will have a little more than just one WDC

Put Nico in McLaren, Ferrari or Red Bull and Sebastian gets real competition. Even Jenson leads Lewis by 12 points after 8 races now, although Lewis IS faster. Lewis has always been very fast, there is NO doubt about that. But his brain suffers from a fair play failure. Even in this celebratory video, there are cases of clear unfair moves, sometimes life threatening, such as with Timo in Monza 2008. If he did that to me (pushing off the track at Curva Grande), he would only race a wheelchair!

He treats other drivers in an unfair way and always whines when his own skin is hurt, often due to his own error. He has a SERIOUS bias/egocentrism problem. Just like Schumacher when he was young. But now I like Schumacher. For his age, he's doing an INCREDIBLE job. But he used to be a bloody bastard in the 90's...

@TheKingBoromir ferrari had a great car this season. it wasn't particularly great in a straight or in the tight turns, but ferrari were pretty good everywhere this year in all the sectors of all tracks. Lewis is the passionate driver and this skills he has to go with that make him the best in my opinion

Safe to say, I disagree with you, and if you agree that it's okay to take into account other considerations other than the final standings in 2007, then also it's okay to do so in 2010- such as Hamilton's busted wheel rim in spain that cost him 18 points etc :)
