I love the old black and white monster movies. I used to watch these a long time ago during bright sunny afternoons while I ate sandwiches. That made me very happy.
When I was a pup, my dad said, 'Gary, let's watch this film, it's really good;. So while maon and Karen (my baby sister) were out, dad and I watched it together. I loved it and have it on tape.
Theres something homely and reassuring about these old monster films im watching a classic film every night this christmas its great takes me back decades sat in pj's slippers and hot cup of tea and this what a christmas
The people's reactions are what makes this film. Why did the cops use shotguns on the Beast? Because standard police procedure is to use shotguns to stop dangerous big game animals. Because buckshot doesn't bounce around and hit innocent people or pets, unlike the bullets from a deer rifle or an AK47. The failure of traditional police procedures shows that a new age in horror has hit. This also is one of the first films in which the army is sent to attack a monster, too
Just a wonderful, wonderful movie that certainly stands the test of time. I loved it as a kid and that love hasn't lessened in the half century since. I've never wanted to be an actor, but if I had the opportunity, I'd enjoy portraying one of the members of the panicked crowd running flat out from a roaring menace like the Rhedosaur. CuffColl.
I watched this recently with my 8 year old daughter. She instantly fell in love with it. And protested it was a bad movie because the beast was killed in the end.
@LukeSkywalkerInMe LOL!! That's just like how I was when I was young. I was mostly like that toward Godzilla movies. Whenever Godzilla died or lost a fight with another monster, I'd hate that film. I was also like that with Valley of Gwangi because of how Gwangi died.
i hope the dinosuar had insurance tbh the amount of damage it caused he have to pay out at least 10 mil probs more good thing i know a good lawer also you though that dinsoaur was alive nope chuck testa
Wow! I still remember this scene from when my father took me to see it in 1953. It is still riveting 50 years later. And what a treat to see all those pictures of NYC back in the day!
@Lenafreed Indeed. Although I was born a long time after 1953, I still think the movie was great, and it was definetely ahead of it´s time!
It´s a shame they don´t sell the movie in my country, but I remember seeing this movie for the first time in a relatives birthday party. It was great!
How come you took it off iPod and iPhone :( I love looking at this while I'm in bed and now I can't :(

This movie is way before my time but being a New Yorker and watching this is pretty intense.

I remember watching this when I was six and crying when the beast was killed. I could not be consoled by my parents.
I would rather watch this over any CGI crapfest today.

I love how the guy in the car at 2:50 is just like "Umm...Why is the car shaking?" instead of panicking xD
