How do you turn screen on? I just got this tablet but when I try to turn it on it just says: No sync. Go to sleep. Otherwise it works well but I would like to use screen too ...
Before you buy a CINTIQ..Try out a used Touch-screen TABLET PC off Ebay loaded with XP Tablet edition and Corel-Paint or Photoshop..I got my FUJITSU tablet PC for just £128 delivered..it is GREAT:
I just got a chance to try out one of these things... oh the lust! The one major thing that makes this no match for paper is, well portability of course... but really the directness of the touch - there's this millimeter of distance between where your pen touches the screen and where your mark appears bellow.
It has to be connected its just a second monitor with a touch screen if you think about it. But it feels just like drawing on paper the only thing missing is the feeling of the pen scraping against paper.
hmm anyone know if this has strong usb cord, because on my bamboo its really small and wimpy and broke on my use.(i need to shake and bend it to make it work)
i mean the part where the cord is attached to the tablet
im used to draw with the tablet/paper on my lap and the cord couldn't take that >_>;
Ahaha, I wish I had a Cintiq, but I still have a Bamboo Fun that`s in good condition, so I might wait until I get a Cintiq. Plus it`s expensive for me. .___.
The only thing that's really stopping me from getting one of these is the prospect of a short lifespan. I mean, this is basically a monitor we're talking about. For $1k, I'm hoping that it lasts a good long time. Otherwise, I'd really prefer an Intuos 3.
thats good. i got a bamboo fun tablet but i like to see the picture on the screen, so i think im gonna save up for one. post a vid of u usin it and how u like it.
This question is for current owners of the Cintiq 12WX. I purchased mine about 2 weeks ago and am getting ready to ship it back. I am experiencing allot of jitter. Is this normal?
might have to calibrate it...or make sure your graphics card can handle 1280x800 res 24bit...i had to adjust mine a little bit and it's workin perfect
Wow, make me a third. Had a 9X12 intuos 3. ANy idea on the size difference? they say 12.1, but that doesn't tell me much about if it's really the same size or not.
oh dang, me too, i hope i can get one for christmas or something! i wish i had that thing! so, how much do they cost? i think ur animations will be amazing!
I need need NEED one of these! I just got a WACOM tablet and it kind of annoys me to look at the screen and having to look down at my hand to know where you're drawing. This would just make everything so much easier.
Dude, thats like trying to draw with your penis, it just doesnt feel natural (tough you might get good at it if you practice enough, but its just a waste of time / energies imo). this kicks any graphic tablet's ass
Um... fyi, I OWN a cintiq 12wx. I know how good it is, but there's nothing *wrong* with the intuos if you're not a complete fool and have developed any degree of hand eye co-ordination.
tl;dr I'll take the Cintiq ay day but Intuos isn't unusable
Wow, thank you so much for posting this. I ordered this and am still waiting to get it. I just can't get used to looking at a monitor while drawing on a tablet on the desk. This will be easier for me. Thanks again !
I'm so getting one of these, a normal tablet only takes you so far with animation (I feel I've done bloody well so far), but a screen tablet looks like it gets rid of some of the more annoying problems. 1 Question though, do you find the resolution to be too small or is it just right, it kinda looks like the size of a wide mouse mat on there.
I use a SONY VAIO that allows me to draw right on the monitor,..(and I love it!!) but I've been tempted with the Wacom 12wx too!! Do you find it limiting by forcing you to stay tethered to a desktop or laptop at a station or desk? I'm asking because I'm so torn between on of those or a truly portable Tablet PC.
Well the great thing about the Cintiq is that it's truly made for drawing and designing; it features 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, pen tilt sensitivity, is very responsive, and has fully programmable side buttons. As for feeling "tethered," that doesn't bother me at all...but I guess that's a matter of personal preference!
Yes,..you are so right. The VAIO I use has the tilt and the pressure sensitivity and was co-designed with Wacom as partners. I'm glad to have it. The glass is so slick though that I find it a bit weird at times..but the major issue I have with the SONY would have to be the lack of ability to really turn the screen as I approach my curves. I like to be able to turn it like a turntable as an animator would with a disc. Cannot do this with mine.
From a fellow tooner,..let me say,...NICE work and THANKS for sharing your experience with the wacom 12WX! As for the idiot who had the ugly words to share about your work on the Wacom....excuse it for what it is....an ignorant comment. Keep on drawing my friend!
I got from that: "Why do you need such a fantastic tablet to do those kinds of drawings" and that I am "wasting" it with my cartoons. Well, not every person with artistic talent chooses to paint the Mona Lisa. Some very influential artists have been cartoonists. Some cartoonists have every bit of talent--if not more--that "realistic" artists have. I pour a lot of time, energy and devotion into my comic; you should think before deriding me because I can afford a nice tool on which to craft them.
This appears to be a sound investment. At the university I attend we have wacoms, but they're A5 size and I can never get use to looking up at a screen while I'm drawing - throws me right off every time.
Hopefully, if I do end up getting this, my software based work will get done much faster and look better because of a much greater sense of control. Both your videos here and your review helped me quite a lot.
Well, since Cintiqs are really just monitors with graphics tablets built in to them, you can run any software you want with them. If a program works well with a 21UX, odds are it will work just as well with the 12WX.
You either tested a bum 21, or have much, much higher expectations about screen delay than I do, because the delay on mine is virtually imperceptible.
how long did it take wacom to ship this to you and do you know if the felt tips wear out quickly? oh, and how heavy would you say the tablet part of it is - about the same as an intuos of comparable size? thanks
This thing got to me like three days after I ordered it. Very fast. The felt tip nibs last a couple of weeks if you draw a lot; more if you swap them out every now and then and don't use them much. The tablet part is the same size as a 12.1" widescreen monitor.
Felt tip nibs are just nibs you can put into the Cintiq pen that are made of felt rather than plastic. They are harder than like, felt-tip markers, but made of the same substance. Since they're not plastic, they offer more friction when you draw on the glass/plastic Cintiq screen, and hence feel more "natural."
You can actually only draw at one angle, unless you lay it flat. It doesn't bother me, but I guess I could see how that could be a pain for some people. However, the drawing angle is very comfortable and the unit is much sturdier than I anticipated. You CAN prop it up at different angles for viewing, but unless you have a very light hand, it's almost impossible to draw unless you put it down as far as the stand will go, at which point it is very comfortable and sturdy.
I honestly am not sure; I THINK it's plastic but it looks and feels like glass. It's slicker than the 21UX screen, but if you use a felt-tip pen nib you should be fine.
I've posted a video briefly showing how the Cintiq12WX hooks up to your computer, then how it functions as a second monitor. Just take a look at my videos.
Hey Jim, tonight or possibly tomorrow, I will gladly post a vid of how the Cintiq12WX works as a second monitor. It's really very nice and easy to use.
