I think it is safe to say that out of entry level sports cars, the new GT is definitely king of the Hill. 370Z, Camaro SS, Challeneger SRT-8, Impereza STI, I mean what this car does for the price is nothing short of incredible. Ford turned out a beauty.

@ah6430mm, dam good question......from that 5.0 magazine says, the engine's forged except for the rods. ford claims it will withstand almost any N/A punishment but needs some forging for power adders.....all in all thank goodness, if they can be fully forged for minimal price, they change the whole ball game :))

@AcousticDude122 I think 65K is far from accurate. An LS3 C6 with a cam, intake, exhaust, tune and drag radials will run 10s. There are videos here of them doing it and that is far from 65K in total. You also get world class handling that whips BMWs on turns as well with the C6 so that is not a fair comparison. The new GT is an awesome car and I wouldn't mine owning one, but I might take a 2008+ LS3 C6 first though.

@Marc99GT Well it was past break in period already and he romped it but he didn't know what he was doing. I have a buddy with a Bullitt and he runs 13.2-13.6's. The guy was a little to excited I think because he couldn't catch traction and his launch had no control on stock tires. It was just dissapointing because it was the first new 5.0 any of us were able to see in person at the track. I was honestly expecting mid 13's

@Metalhead852 I believe it. This is why I have always owned automatics. My turbocharged 99 GT always ran consistent times. My 87 Grand National ran consistent low 12s without any problems. I give a lot of credit to stick drivers because it is easy to make a mistake. I'm curious as to what was the trapspeed. Even with a bad ET, a car making real power will almost always have a trapseed that lets you know it was a traction issue.

Just to even to a mild port and deshrouding of the valves would inprove these cars drastically!  2011 GT owners beware though....ford does NOT reccomend these engines to be forced induction....the rods were not built for it....they tried to save weight! Replace the rods, and boost the hell out of it!!!

Funny how people are bashing the new Mustang 5.0 and they havent even been out long enough to get a firm grasp on the cars faults. I am very jealous at this point. I have a 2v..the worst of the cammer motors and its only in low13's with all the bolt ons, intake, upper plenum 3.73's and tuner!! A stall converter and 4r700 should change that.

@MrRobGT Don't feel bad. It is not the worse. You just haven't tapped into the potential. My 99 GT auto ran 10.92 at Englishtown on the bone stock longblock. A T-76 turbo really wakes the car up. This was on 93 octane and it is well documented in MM&FF. I can only imagine what I would have done with 3 valves at the time. The 4R70W is an unbelievable transmission. it is a sleeper like the 2Jz block. peoiple have gone 9s with them and a shift kit.

@evoperform from what iv seen on this vidio you guy's are getting this car into the 11 second bracket just by changing the intake, exhoust, and tires, and some minor tuning, without even changing the cam's yet, couse you do know that there is plenty of room for a mutch, mutch bigger cam that you can put into this car. I think the limit is 510 and the car has a factory cam of 433/477 lift
