Fat bitch is an airhead too. He doesn't NEED it. It's damn useful, which Obama realizes and the capital Obama has produced on the internet is what makes him about to win and run the US damn well.
The guy in the video is McCain's e-campain strategist Mark SooHoo. Had McCain knew the importance of the internet better. He probably would have found a better strategist. McCain's e-campain is no comparison to Obama's.
I don't think it makes him ineligible for president, but it's certainly a big blow. And honestly, I don't know how long his campaigners can keep this under wraps from the mainstream public.
I mean, c'mon! Ron Paul can use a computer, and he's a year older than you.
Look up McCain's record on voting for Internet in the Classroom, Internet reform, etc. You will find that he has been voted the most internet savvy congressman, even above the guy who "invented" it.
McCain not being able to use a computer has nothing to do with the injuries he sustained at war. You need to get fucking real. If you have enough money to own more houses than you realize, you can afford to finagle a way to use a damn computer. It's ridiculous. If a person does not know how to use a computer, they would not be eligible to work as a receptionist, let alone run the fucking country, turn around a potentially unprecedented fiscal disaster and resolve your dirtbag GOP war.
Here's a passage from Boston Globe profile on McCain. It was headlined "McCain character loyal to a fault." by Mary Leonard.
"McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes."
The ad shows one of two things; either Sen. Obama has absolutely no scruples about attacking Sen. McCains disability he suffers from due to the torture he received as a POW or he and his campaign lack the basic skills to do research prior to releasing this tasteless ad.
The reason Sen. McCain cant send an email is because he had his bones broken and fingers crushed by war criminals who tortured him during his service to our nation as a Navy pilot. You know that. Your campaign knows that. And, yet they turned this into a cynical and false attack on John McCain.
One heart beat away! Who was born in 1884 and died of a heart attack in 1945 at age 61 ? Who was born in 1911 and died in 1981 of a heart attack when he was 70 years old? John S. McCain
they needed a better guy up their to rebuttle her statements, instead of just choking. he seemed surprised that someone would cut him off while he was talking.

Just quit wasting your time with stupid partisan bullshit and dont believe in conspiracy theories. Think outside the box my friend. Now run along.
LOL, the true right wing neocon comes out. You're missing the point. McCain was a piss pore pilot who didn't deserve to fly but daddy and Grandpappy made this happen. Crash #1 was while practicing landings. Crash two, flying too low and hitting power lines (what an idiot!!!). Crash 3 flying to the Army-Navy game. You would think after crash 3, he would've quit, but McCain decided to stay the course (where have I heard that expression before?). Cont.
Crash 4, when a missle accidently fired on the Forrestal. This led to fuel leaking (the warhead was not activated). Many believe McCain ignited the leaking fuel by doing a wet start (a hot shot move where you flood the engine with fuel and ignite it scaring the shit out of the person next to you). Crash 5, after only 20 hours in combat McCain is shot down. I wont even mention the Keating 5, his infidelity, and his wife stealing drugs from her own medical charity to feed her drug addition.
You mean he was actually really good at crashing jets as a Naval Pilot (during his horrible Naval career he crashed 5 jets!!!!). By the way, he only got the job as a Naval Pilot because his father and grandfather were 4 star admirals in the Navy. During his complete failure in the Naval academy he finished in the lowest 1% of his class. There's no way he would've gotten the most sought after job in the Navy without daddy and grandpappy's help. In the end he should've never been a pilot!!!
To say that John McCain needs to know how to use a computer inorder to understand how important they are is like say that you need to be a cancer victim to see that it is a horrible problem. Obviously, we can all agree that cancer is a horrible problem w/o being victems ourselves. In the same way John McCain can understand how important computers are w/o auctully using them.
Debate10001: Bad analogy. Cancer is a medical condition. Computers have to be one of the 3 most revolutionary inventions in human history. Isn't an outdated understanding of technology problematic for someone who wishes to lead a nation?
Wow, I'm not a republican or a democrat, so I can say this without bias:
This is ridiculous.
Thinking that he needs to be a regular computer user to run a country is like saying someone needs to regularly fire a gun to run a country.
You don't have to shoot or even own a gun to know how to consider or respect one.
I support Obama, because he seems to be more for peace. It doesn't matter if he's never shot a gun or never used a computer. More important are goals and a knowledgeable staff.
No, not the same at all. Internet is an integral part of our 21st century economy. McCain had 30+ years to learn how to use a computer and 12+ years to learn how to use the Internet but did neither!!!!
Yep. I live in housing for the elderly and disabled, and we have a computer center. Many of us have out own computers. though. When my network goes down I often "borrow" a connection via a neighbor's wireless router. I'll bet McCain not only wouldn't secure a wireless router (a common mistake), he wouldn't know what one is.
No, McCain doesn't use computers because he and the rest of his ideas are those of a troglodyte. Plenty of us older people know better than to vote for him.
You are so right. And not only is he out of touch with people using the internet, he's out of touch with people with an income under 10M and out of touch with people under the age of 50.
its a mistake to ASSUME that er .... john W mccain has no knowledge of this....he has served in the u.s. senate and has been on a number of committees that are....

A leader of the people, ideally, should use it most to connect with the people (s)he represents.
I will bet you Bill Clinton, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama don't use computers on a regular basis; precisely because they don't need to. And I'm sure all of them don't know how to do little more than browse the internet and press the "Start" button. You don't need to use a computer to understand how it effects things around us. Much like you don't need to own an iPod to understand how it has revolutionized the music industry. You can SEE it happening.
You're totally wrong. Obama is always on his blackberry looking at e-mail when his is on route somewhere. In contrast, McCain's staffers bring him notes. He himself said he is incompetent when it comes to using a computer. You can see him saying that on youtube if you don't believe me.
gatrfan... IT (and the subset of tools called 'the web') is a HUGE field, with implications in EVERY policy area. It's not just about the way you use the interwebs.
"Really? It seems parents can grasp the problems with kids being on MySpace and Facebook, even if they don't know how to use those sites."
completely false. You cannot understand the power/possibilities of the online social movement if you've never been involved yourself. The way we are able to communicate has radically changed and a large portion of our country just cant understand it - including John McCain.
I don't think you can 'understand the powers and possibilities of the online social movement' given all the experts in my field (the interwebs) argue constantly about he implications, the policy problems, civil freedoms etc... the interwebs is a HELL of a lot more important than whatever web toy people are flocking to...
i agree that its impossible to completely understand the varying impacts of evolving internet social technology. All this is so new and undefined... its still very early in this revolution...
But without ANY experience with new-age online communication its near impossible to understand the way our world will evolve with the internet.
it's not just that. It's the impacts of increasing computational power on say - science is done and the speed at which innovation happens, and is distributed...anyway - these are really powerful destabilizers (in the very general sense...)
mccain is not the age of our parents.... he is 71.... his father died at 70. He has past his lifespan, and a 71 year old should at least try to understand the internet.... MCCAIN DOESNT EVEN UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS!
in consideratio to John, he is not alone with the over 50 gen who really fails to utizlie the tech available...but it is so easy to learn, perhaps his daughter could teach him.
Anybody who claims to think technology is important has had plenty of chance to get hands-on experience by now.
We are living in frickin' 2008. You can't have a clue as to what's going on in society if you haven't *directly* experienced the web and email and at least a few apps.
Jeez, even my mom and dad who lived thru the Great Depression have done all that, and go online pretty much every day.
John McCain has absolutely ZERO excuse for failing to become a hands-on computer user by now.
I know people who are on the web everyday, and yet remain COMPLETELY in the dark, both in the daily use and in the societal implications. It is TERRIFYING that a man so clueless, could be even remotely involved with it's governance, sadly this fits about 90% of Congress.
Obama hired people to build a kick ass site and community, he used the net to form a huge fund raising community, they knew how to get people working at the street level and sharing their experiences on the site.
Having hands-on experience is NECESSARY, but NOT SUFFICIENT.
McCain doesn't even make it to first base in the digital world. Worse yet, some of his biggest backers are the lobbyists from Old Telecom -- AT&T and the other FISA culprits.
Obama has grown up with the digital experience *and* has deep insight and broad perspective. His campaign is setting the standard for electoral politics in the Web Age.

and obama can't even push the right button when he votes. in defense of his screwy votes, he states he pushed the wrong button 5 times when voting as a senator. even McCain can tell the difference between the red and green buttons. - if u dont want to admit obama isnt smart enough to find the right button, feel free to comment on how he is too much of a coward to stand up for his own votes.
It's pretty amazing how sharp they are about it. The guy in charge is 24!
Obama's google talk was great. McCain can't touch him on this. I hope that when they do one of the town halls - they get into this stuff. Obama will clean up the floor with McCain on this.
Screw the Global community, America needs economic and legislative indepence free from the influence of the multinational corporate lobbiests and the U.N.

Shut up you fat slut
You don't need to have a fuckin Facebook account to run the country. McCain can understand the nation's problems perfectly well without understanding how social networking works.
Justice Kennedy wrote the opinion today in Kennedy v. Louisiana, banning capital punishment for someone who rapes a child.
Obama said today that he disagrees with this SCOTUS decision by Justices Kennedy, Stevens, Ginsburg, Breyer, and Souter.
But the latter three justices are Obama's model appointees, as he explained on May 8, 2008.
Barack Obama said: "Justice Breyer, Justice Ginsburg are very sensible judges. I think that Justice Souter, who was a Republican appointee, is a sensible judge."
He just has everyone else speak for him & run the campaign. Nothing but a puppet. He doesn't do anything. Flip Flops from one day to another. And has Nnow ideas.. They write his speeches. They tell him where to go. Another retard they are molding to run our country.
To me McCain is lying SOB and Obama is a sellout. They're both equally repugnant in my opinion. I can not and will not lower my standards to vote for either one.
Good Joe, go with your conscience. I respect your conviction to vote for who you think best represents your beliefs. Vote your conscience and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Right on, dude.
I was there and I'm also a grandmother and nearly 70 and Tracy's point was not about your grandmother. It was a subtle but great point that knowing about the "communication tool" and even using the tools as consumer is not enough, the main point is how to become a producer of information and creator of/participant in networks to change the way we do governing. Addressing that question seemed to be the point of the whole PDF.
She didn't have to compare McCain to your average grandmother but seriously, have you ever tried explaining electronics to a person of McCain's age? I sell electronics to old people every day. I have trouble getting them to understand how to plug their house phone in (not exaggerating). He may be doing better than them, but that's not saying much.
And as I'm sure you're well aware, hisem, he always - ALWAYS - checks to make sure his Rheizenbach rheostat is synchronized to the diacritical amplitude.
McCain was so eager to talk in Hanoi perhaps he should be the first to be put on trial, for ANYTHING, just to get the worms out of the can and a shopping list of sycophants to put in lifetime lock-down.
LOL! Yeah, the Internets. It's a series of tubes, you know. That's where the Google lives. I'm glads too know that smart peoples with skilz is driving the country of America. Yee-haw!
It's almost too bad this is "just a campaign issue" doomed to be used as a football in partisan hackery, and wasn't something the nation was talking about beforehand. Government has been very slow on the uptake beyond running totalitarian databases and porting forward old-school mainframe-era mentalities.
It's a legitimate point to argue that we need a president who has personally experienced the modern Internet and fathoms how transformtive it could be to the nation if properly utilised.
I think that she is completely right... and it's not because we need a President bidding on ebay. If someone doesn't have a working knowlege of the internet and global communications technology, how are they supposed to contribute meaningfully to any conversation on global trade? On education? On workforce development?
Knowledge of the internet isn't a superficial skill... it's an absolute essential part of modern living, much less leading.
Well, remember what Grandpa Simpson said: "A fax machine's nothing but a waffle iron with a *phone* attached!". I think that's pretty much where John McCain is.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
wow. not only is this girl huge, she's also ignorant. 'if you can't use facebook you can't be president.' wtf? we need someone with experience governing NOT bidding on ebay. besides presidents have to oversee a large range of issues they may have little personal experience with. how many presidents have ran a farm, served in the military, engineered a rocket, and been on welfare? 0? oh ok...so i guess its more about leadership skills. what a dumb-***.

McCain says he is anti-torture but he voted against a bill to ban waterboarding and then applauded Bush for his Veto on that ban.

You can SEE it happening.
gatrfan 3 years ago
yes but can you see how the ipod is revolutionizing 'reading'....
CityzenJane 3 years ago
You're totally wrong. Obama is always on his blackberry looking at e-mail when his is on route somewhere. In contrast, McCain's staffers bring him notes. He himself said he is incompetent when it comes to using a computer. You can see him saying that on youtube if you don't believe me.
Kommaseir 3 years ago 3
gatrfan... IT (and the subset of tools called 'the web') is a HUGE field, with implications in EVERY policy area. It's not just about the way you use the interwebs.
CityzenJane 3 years ago 2
soooooo what you're saying is 'the interwebs = myspace' and that's all you need to know to govern in the age of ubquitous computing....
interesting.
CityzenJane 3 years ago
"Really? It seems parents can grasp the problems with kids being on MySpace and Facebook, even if they don't know how to use those sites."
completely false. You cannot understand the power/possibilities of the online social movement if you've never been involved yourself. The way we are able to communicate has radically changed and a large portion of our country just cant understand it - including John McCain.
schapirate 3 years ago 4
I don't think you can 'understand the powers and possibilities of the online social movement' given all the experts in my field (the interwebs) argue constantly about he implications, the policy problems, civil freedoms etc... the interwebs is a HELL of a lot more important than whatever web toy people are flocking to...
CityzenJane 3 years ago
i agree that its impossible to completely understand the varying impacts of evolving internet social technology. All this is so new and undefined... its still very early in this revolution...
But without ANY experience with new-age online communication its near impossible to understand the way our world will evolve with the internet.
getyourfreezeon 3 years ago 3
it's not just that. It's the impacts of increasing computational power on say - science is done and the speed at which innovation happens, and is distributed...anyway - these are really powerful destabilizers (in the very general sense...)
CityzenJane 3 years ago 2
mccain is not the age of our parents.... he is 71.... his father died at 70. He has past his lifespan, and a 71 year old should at least try to understand the internet.... MCCAIN DOESNT EVEN UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS!

John McCain has absolutely ZERO excuse for failing to become a hands-on computer user by now.
telephusion 3 years ago 2
I know people who are on the web everyday, and yet remain COMPLETELY in the dark, both in the daily use and in the societal implications. It is TERRIFYING that a man so clueless, could be even remotely involved with it's governance, sadly this fits about 90% of Congress.
Obama hired people to build a kick ass site and community, he used the net to form a huge fund raising community, they knew how to get people working at the street level and sharing their experiences on the site.
CityzenJane 3 years ago
Agreed.

"John McCain is aware of the Internet" seems like it's going to be the next "You forgot Poland" -- defensible, but not the desired effect.
Meanwhile, Russo offered nothing but a tendentious invocation of the age card plus a string of mindless platitudes.
Full disclosure: I'm one of the people you can hear booing in the audience.

It's almost too bad this is "just a campaign issue" doomed to be used as a football in partisan hackery, and wasn't something the nation was talking about beforehand. Government has been very slow on the uptake beyond running totalitarian databases and porting forward old-school mainframe-era mentalities.
It's a legitimate point to argue that we need a president who has personally experienced the modern Internet and fathoms how transformtive it could be to the nation if properly utilised.
skids7682 3 years ago 12
I think that she is completely right... and it's not because we need a President bidding on ebay. If someone doesn't have a working knowlege of the internet and global communications technology, how are they supposed to contribute meaningfully to any conversation on global trade? On education? On workforce development?
Knowledge of the internet isn't a superficial skill... it's an absolute essential part of modern living, much less leading.

wow. not only is this girl huge, she's also ignorant.
