The live action of Blood the last Vampire was utterly terrible. The original is simply a masterpiece. Although, I find it hard to relate to Saya in this one because, she isn't that light-hearted girl I knew in Blood plus. She's more silent yet, deadly individual that's very diligent in battle. but, something about Saya from the series made me favor her more...
Blood + is only good if you haven't seen this and you prefer cliched paint by numbers anime plot with a tacky love story tacted in on both sides. That show was a POOR representation of the Blood franchise. I'm glad Blood C fixed some of those problems and didn't draw out longer than it needed to be. Blood + was boring and frankly carried on WAAY too long. The characters were uninteresting and lack personality. Haji's as interesting as watching mushrooms grow.
Anyone that saw the movie remake with real people...you just fucked up real time, the only way to truly enjoy the masterpiece is to watch the original manga version of it.
After I saw the trailer, I didn't have high expectations. But this movie was a shockingly pleasant suprise. in fact, many sections reminded me of that awesome anime sequence in Kill Bill. If they'd drawn this out to a full movie, it would've taken Blood+'s place for me. Blood+ is godly, but I feel that the producers intended for it to appeal to teens. This has a bleaker, less poppy vibe, suitable for adults. Once you get over the differences in Blood+ and this film, you'll enjoy it =)

I would just like to point out that I do not think this film was meant to be seriously analyzed. Didn't expect it to have some super amazing plot (although I thought the plot fit the film), Oscar-winning performances, or anything like that, and yet I still left the fillmsi.co.cc entertained.

@TheLaughingMan0603 if you never seen both then you really can't have an opinion. besides. Its sort of an on and off thing. things are better here and there and things are less here in there. In my opinion Though, I think Blood+ has better supernatural effects while Blood:the last vampire has better gore effects. Not saying that Blood+ doesn't have great gore animation, cause i mean...a Chiropteran getting the top layer of its flesh ripped off is indeed gruesome, but B:tlv still had more.
Blood+ is better than nothing. One of I.G.'s poorest productions ever, not only do they massively alter the main character, stripping her completely of the hard-assed edge that made her unique in the OVA, but they incredibly managed to make her essentially useless for the entirety of the show. She starts off inept and ineffectual and ends up only marginally less inept and ineffectual.
At least Blood-C, which can't really be described as 'good', had some truly shocking moments.
This brings back memories. I recall very much her yelling 'SWORD' follow by an epic slice and dice~ That did it for me. One of the best short films I ever seen, and I saw it so many times in one day because it was short. xD I never got tire of it.

@taigajewel You can just DL a ton of movies and then put them on a DVD. But everyone is more modern about it, they skip the DVDs and have everything in their MP4 players all digital and just hook it up to their TVs. Many just use their lappys and a HDMI cable and you're set. Watch everything you DLed in the TV. I personally have that and just transfer everything to MP4 format to my iPod since I have the TV source for it, so I can watch etc thru my iPodness. C:

You know..the 2000 movie which lead to the '05 alternate version series called Blood+....different mood, different atmosphere, different story.

This takes place in the 1960's,before her fight in Vietnam and hibernation.Riku and Kai wouldn't even be born yet,the same obviously for her nieces.Heck even her adoptive father George would only be a teenager at this time.The David in this movie is the father of the one in the TV series.This is the same guy that Saya accidentally killed in Vietnam.
They made this movie before the series that's why characters are missing.But actually I think their absences could be explained within reason.From what the TV show led us to believe Saya just roamed around killing random vampires until the trail finally led her to Diva in Vietnam.So that would explain the absence of Diva and her chevaliers.And as for Haji..lol..well he always follows Saya's wishes.
From her mood in this movie I could see her telling him she wants to go it alone

I was sad when the movie ended after only about 45 mins. They really should have made a series using this art style depicting Saya's battles in Vietnam. I've even watched the Live action film, besides the really bad CG, i liked the action and "mom" arc. Then theres the novel which is independent. Anyway i liked Blood+ but i feel like they just added (+) the hibernation cycle, "sister" arc, and Haji out of no where. there was no indication of her needing to hibernate in the previous stories.
@ziferzero77 I think they added the hibernation thing to get her to loose her memory; I can't imagine this Saya getting knocked out so badly she lost her memory or anything... though it would be interesting to see this Saya interacting with Kai....

I love this movie and the blood plus series. I find there's nothing wrong with creating Vampire characters with humanity and backstory and or even love interests but the main problem arises when Vampire series just become badly written (aka Twilight).

I love Blood: The Last Vampire, the anime and the live action. I also really enjoyed the Blood+ series even though it was quite different from its original movie. I prefer the Blood+ manga more than the anime. Saya and Diva's relationship runs a little deeper than just killing each other in the manga.
Blood+ was such a horrible let down... it was ruined when they gave it such a watered down saturday morning cartoon look and feel. Whereas this... is absolutely astounding... the style, energy, and thematic imagery is mesmorizing. If only I could say the same about Blood+ which was just ... shall I say... childish.

I liked both this movie and the anime series. The latter I enjoyed because it had more characters and the story of the chiropterans was interesting.
While they're both pretty different, they're infinitely better than Twilight. At least they have real vampires who actually feed on human blood...

I didnt know about the movie until I had seen the series and I loved the series. I tried watching this but it was in english subtitles so I didnt ever finish it but that was a long time ago before I knew this and blood+ had any connection at all.

I love this movie and the blood plus series. I find there's nothing wrong with creating Vampire characters with humanity and backstory and or even love interests but the main problem arises when Vampire series just become badly written (aka Twilight).

1. They don't die when exposed to sunlight, just glows like disco-balls
2. They aren't Bela Lugosi-material(wich makes me think that he'd kick their butts if he were alive)

3. They don't live in Transylvania(sp?) in a cool castle

I love Blood: The Last Vampire, the anime and the live action. I also really enjoyed the Blood+ series even though it was quite different from its original movie. I prefer the Blood+ manga more than the anime. Saya and Diva's relationship runs a little deeper than just killing each other in the manga.

Blood+ was such a horrible let down... it was ruined when they gave it such a watered down saturday morning cartoon look and feel. Whereas this... is absolutely astounding... the style, energy, and thematic imagery is mesmorizing. If only I could say the same about Blood+ which was just ... shall I say... childish.

"Blood+ was inspired by the 2000 anime film Blood: The Last Vampire; however, there are only a few allusions and basic elements from the film. Fujisaku has been involved with both works, including acting as the director for Blood+ and writing the novelization of Blood: The Last Vampire."
Also, if you like vampire anime, look up Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the Hellsing Ultimate OVA series.
