  • Wow...just like my daughter. She is the same age here. Looking forward to viewing Jewel's progress since she is older now. Thank-you for the video!

  • She's so adorable!! :)

  • Hi, I am an SLP and am very interested to know how Jewel is doing....I haven't seen any posts since this one.....it would be great to see an update! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • Jewel is doing great. Another one will be uploaded today, as long as my computer cooperates. Thanks for your interest.

  • Thanks for posting this. It is fortifying to see other kids dealing with the same challenges my daughter has.

  • my daugter is 2and a half and is in speech and special intervetion. she had the diagonises of aperixiaat the age of twoafter only one month of therpy we wnet to a specialist and that is what she pretty much diagonised her with. she sounds like your daughter did when jewl was two. did she ever say dayday for baby? or dydy for byby? she says hoho for santa and oohohoh ahhahh for monkey. and oow for two and ee for three? she pretty much sounds like your littel girl does. just wondreing. thanx jess

  • re-introduce ye-ye with the B for Bye Bye. and Un- for monkey...M-un-kee...like that. keep it in useable chunks of information.

It's needing more time to process the initial sounds. Remember to speak really clearly and annunciate each vowel/consonant as well, slowly and in chunks. Perhaps focus on many words beginning with M...for example...MMMM for Milk... MMM for mommy...monkey....mouth....money....meow....moose....like that....

    "MMMMM..... !" "MMMM.... ilk!"

    I hope this helps!

    Take care!

  • Try separating sounds "MMMM" for monkey, "B..(pause)..B" for baby? After hearing the beginning sounds, keep the language REALLY SLOW and drawn out for the better part of a few months and see how that helps them distinguish the beginning sound from the rest of the word. We usually put less auditory emphasis on the first sound...and the rest of the word becomes "the word sound" that is most easily heard and remembered (processed). Later, as "I" is already learned for Bye-Bye,

  • the two paragraphs below from me, pachoula...read them in reverse. did not realise it came out backwards. It begins with "Try separating sounds.... " etc etc...then the upper paragraph with "re-introduce...." :)

  • OMG she sounds just like my daughter. my daughter is 5 1/2, and i even think your daughter is doing better then mine. what kinda speech therapy do you do for her?

  • Hi your daughter is so adorable!! My son is 4yrs 10 months and also has Apraxia. I remember your video from a while ago and it seems that Jewel has made progress! Have you tried any biomed treatments? eg.. fish oils, supplements?

Take care and enjoy your amazing little girl!
