  • he is making another 2 films of it?? I don't know how it can conitnue??? I mean, the blue people are not that interesting to start with! I don't want to see them again :)

  • It was an old script/idea put together with top notch CGI (pretty effects)! I don't hate the film but I feel it's main goal was to MAKE MONEY!!! and attract the mainstream movie people! and it did its job very well! but for me personally! Aliens is a million miles better than avator

  • I don't understand why everyone hates this film so much, I agree it was overrated but it was still a pretty good movie.

  • I saw Avatar is 3D, I was drinking and stoned and I still couldn't dumb myself down enough to enjoy its dumb plot and 2D characters. When the voice-over randomly returned as he was about to jump onto the back of that pterodactyl I laughed aloud. God what a shit film.

  • star wars will never get old. i won't remember avatar in 20 years.

  • your right Duchess, Chris Nolan is by far the best director on the block right now. Solid, gritty old school inspired movies that hold two fingers up to 3D.

  • dude,..Avatar was amazing, fuck these guys,...all the time taken to make this movie, and they disliked it,..and ranted and stuttered about it for 8 mins. and 33 secs. Transformers 2 was so fuckin horrible. You went to it for explosions and shit, but its like you guys favor action more than anything else,..fuckin cunts..

  • it fukin sucked lets fight for a fukin blue tree

  • Christopher Nolan + 10 years of work = INCEPTION.

James Cameron + 10 years of work = Avatar.

    I think that's pretty self-explanatory.

  • It's not complicated at all: avatar is a shitty fucking movie.

For all the high falutin technology of the "movie", avatar may as well have been written by a pre-adolescent 11 year-old as that is how simpleTONlistic the whole story is. I swear watching avatar makes you think it was written by some 11 year-old kid for his/her elementary school writing class.

  • @sodiumX100

    No.

  • @sodiumX100 a dumbass thinks megamoney = good story. XD

  • @sodiumX100 After July 15, 2011, this statistic will no longer be true. Hopefully.

  • @sodiumX100 not at all

  • @sodiumX100 Spider-Man 3 made $27 million more in its opening weekend than the first.

Celebrity Apprentice gets exponentially superior ratings to what The Sopranos got.

Mass appeal does not equal quality. How many more people have seen Twilight than Dr. Strangelove? Hell, how many more people have seen White Chicks or Big Momma's House? How many people do you know who have actually SEEN Citizen Kane? MASH? Lola Rennt?

Just because a bunch of jackoffs like it does not make it good.

  • @sodiumX100 Just because a movie makes money it does not mean its good... look at Transformers...

  • @asylumsquad I completely agree. Actually, I think I enjoyed Transformers 2 better than Avatar because of Cameron's pretentiousness. Both movies had great special effects, a bad plot and sub par characters (except for Optimus Prime, he's ok). But at least Michael Bay isn't too full of himself to believe that his movie is anything more than an sci-fi action flick.

  • re: Michael Bay vs Cameron: Agree 100 percent.

  • avatar was literally the worst film of 2009. oh, well, i meant transformers 2 was the worst movie of 2009, but avatar seriously ranks up to transformers 2, its just THAT bad.

  • seriously, not only did Cameron throw shit at the general public he also threw shit in the fucking American Revolution. not kidding the main character is fucking George Washington AND Fucking Paul Revere.

  • Halo is the new Star Wars, new movies suck balls. Avatar is so bad I didn't even feel like downloading the pirated version after watching it in the theater. They solved the pirating problem by making shitty movies.

  • I wouldn't watch this movie again, if someone put a gun to my head. Starwars should not be compared with this piece of crap, Starwars was campy but Avatar is a whole new level of suck. The storyline was all but no existent, the characters were simple and were over the top stereotypes, and many parts of the story are just not realistic.

Transformers 2 at least had action, Avatar had pretty scenery, and more pretty scenery, and so on. From this Avatar 2 should just be a big sparkling 3d turd.

  • Speaking of Michael Bay that's one guy I wouldn't mind seeing a 3D movie from.

Avatar's 3D wasn't breathtaking or inspiring...it was as boring as hell. It's like watching golf...in 3D. Dullness. At least with a Michael Bay movie we would get a plethora of action, explosions and stunts that would take advantage of the 3D.

Michael Bay movies are not art but at least it's not claiming to be. It's just fun.

  • I was so happy when Avatar lost the Oscar for best film to The hurt locker. That was a film that deserved to win best film. Avatar is just overrated and im tired of hearing idiots talk about how this movie has blown their minds because it offers an idea that ppl agree on.

  • Avatar is the most boring film I've ever seen the next star wars BULSHIT star wars was good.

  • Sorry, premature post. I agree with everything you two gentlemen said (except enjoying Transformers 2).

  • This.

  • Fans changed your minds?? My God. Poor, sad, little men.

Avatar is the new Star Wars or Wizard of Oz. We don't have to create shit.

  • @LukeLovesRose Avatar is the new Star Wars alright: Overrated and Underwhelming.

  • Great special affects, that is about it. It is remarkable how people have surrendered their taste and identity to this hamfisted allegory. I don't know where to begin yet the problem with this "film." People actually get upset when someone points out the obvious. Who cares people, Cameron does not need your support. He is a millionaire a hundred times over. The movie sucked, get over it.

Go out and make your own films. Believe me you can do it & I would watch it over "Avaturd" any day.

  • @ReverendS You think I'm taking your review personally? Who's thin-skinned here? You've just said you're reviewing the fans, not the movie. I'm not defending "my crappy film". I liked it. I'm comfortable enough in my own thin skin not to feel the need to defend my enjoyment of it. I thought Cameron did an interesting treatment of highlighting how disconnected we've become with our environment. Individualism vs collectivism, mercantilism, institutionalism....but if you didn't see any of this...?

  • @RichardRoy2 Cameron did an interesting treatment of spending close to half a billion dollars ripping off Ferngully/Pocahontas/Aliens/Dances with Wolves, populating it with eight-foot Smurf/Keebler Elf hybrids, and hiding it behind a cheap visual gimmick that was played out in the fifties... but if you didn't see any of this... ?

  • @ReverendS Yeah, I've heard this argument before. Don't know where you're going to find anything that doesn't have elements of something else in it. I've seen plenty of remakes of things I thought were interesting takes on the original theme. You're pretty much doing the same thing you're accusing Cameron of doing.

  • @ReverendS And last samurai ;)

  • @ReverendS u forgot john carter of mars

  • @RichardRoy2 Yeah, he "really" did something that Fern Gully Pocahontas or Dances With Wolves failed to do. (not)

Think about it, if you were a film maker that was given half a billion dollars to make a film, would you really waste it on a overly recycled plot?

T2 is a better film than this

  • @hackensac Ok, so what's your complaint; it cost too much? Plot over recycled? I take it you felt the same way about the other movies you referred to? Personally, I didn't really care for Pocahontas. Fern Gully was ok. And I thoroughly enjoyed Dances with Wolves. But I don't have a problem with seeing someone try an alternate approach. That you saw nothing different between it and those others isn't my problem. That you like to use tired references on it, is also boring.

  • @RichardRoy2 I'm projecting spite for thin-skinned Avatar fans who can't read a negative review of the film without taking it personally and get all defensive and confrontational, and then trying to defend their crappy film with personal implications towards the reviewer's motivations instead of attempting to cite examples from the film as to why it might actually be better than stated. Piss and vinegar doesn't even begin to describe the bile pathetic Avatar Fans like yourself inspires in me.

  • Totally agreed with his comments and revised stance. Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. This is the problem when one is forced by a collectivist mindset to be accommodating to people's assertions. If anything the "fanboys" stance of the film will only reinforce the truth. AVATAR SUCKED.

  • You hit the nail on the head. But I think that the uncut version of the movie will be vastly superior. Even though the movie was more than 2 hours long, It feels like they cut so many scenes out of it. There was no character development, and the plot didn't make sense at times. The missing scenes must make it more coherent, I don't see how they could make it any worse than it already is. It was really an average "michael bay" film, with pretty good GCI.
