Wow, I really like the way you explain. This is the best UV Tutorial i have seen so far. Just perfect! Thank you very very much! I have my practical maya exam at the university tomorrow and still had some (now solved) problems with the UV editor. Keep on doing this great tutorials, you really deserve my subscribtion.
@iamgudi Thank you for the kind words.....For you, I will keep creating useful information. It's all about personal motivation and learning.....the more you put into it, the more you get out of it! Go forth and learn and always be a good person!
hello sir . i like to thank u for posting such a great tutorials ... ur one of the best tutor i've seen and i wish i would get a tutor like u at my college .. the way u explain things wow u sound like its too easy to finish off which is very appreciated ...plz plz i request u to keep doing good tutorials like this in future as well .. thanks :)
Great tutorials on Texturing. I'm an animator and I got a new job as an animator/generalist, but your tutorials helped me get back up to speed on this stuff. You can check out my animation tutorials if you'd like. Keep up the good work!
@AnimationMethods Awesome! I'll check out your stuff! Thanks for the kind words. Sometimes I get into some advance stuff and learn alot, but then try and go back to something basic I did a long time ago and I have to watch one of my own tutorials to answer my own question! So much to learn, so little time to apply! Be the best!
@migeto Very good question! For the moment I am working with an educational version of Maya. This version does not allow use for commercial purposes. In the future I will be upgrading to the commercial version of Maya, which is expensive but worth every penny. I can then produce more in-depth training material for commercial purposes, but for the moment DE will stay commercial free!
i have the same problem with maya 2012 too, it will crash for no reason and i have a free version of 3ds max 2012 ( a student version that i be playing around with on the side) and it does the same thing. It is not my computer, it is a bug in AutoDesk software.
Thanks for the great tutorials!... Im just wondering if you know you can isolate a selected object from the show menu in the viewport ? in makes things much easier and speeds up workflow sometimes my scenes would crash when working with the texture editor in scenes with lots of other textures but iv never had that problem when viewing the object im working on in isolation mode...always have the selection bug tho !
@mirra86 Yes, the isolate select is a better way to go, I just sometimes forget to do some stuff when making tutorials, I've got my mind on so many things at once it's kind of crazy. That's interesting to know that others have some issues as well with crashing. Generally, I work with all textures off as I'm working on specific objects as well. What is up with the selection Bug? I'll keep working on it and update with annotations if I find the answer. Thanks for the kind words!
Cool vid,You should do one about soft bodies and how it can be used to create stuff, collisions or cloth or hair.Your tutorials have been very helpful. Thanks for uploading this.
I've learned more from your tutorials than in a semester. Thank you so much! I'm not the best when it comes to UV's and unwrapping, but no worries, I'm continuing to practice. Thanks once again Stu.
Also, you forgot the "T" in your last name, just thought I would let you know. :-)
UVs are such a headache. I really really hope PTEX becomes more standardised in the new few years. Sadly Mental Ray for Maya doesn't yet support it (AFAIK).
@TheKumaDB I like the idea of PTEX and a much more simplified UV experience! I understand why it is the way it is, but I think it could be much more intuitive with the right coding....God bless anyone who can make the process more fun by simplifying the UV relationship structure and layout. I love textures and what they add to the overall scene....Stay simple yet effective! Hope this helps you out....Glad to see you are focused! Stu
@deepfriedectoplasm It definitely helps thanks, something good to know as a base knowledge. For my own work im going to try and see how Mari or Mudbox go as far as texturing, since painting directly onto a model is far easier and more natural. However I'm obviously not going to do that for flat or simple objects where this knowledge really comes in handy! Also VRay supports PTEX, although I dont know how it will affect my pipeline since I render mutlipass EXRs from mental ray. Will let you know
@melviso1 Not that I know of, Mental Ray for 3DSMax does... but from what ive read no Maya yet. VRay for Maya does, as for a few other renderers. Mental Ray can render them kind of, you need custom made materials and stuff to support it, its not natively build into MR though.
