my theory is that smokey is actually locke the original locke and jack is jacob only in a different time line or whateer and at the end of the show its gonna be jack hurly soyer and kate liv ing on the island and the others back in la on the plane but not crashing this time.
@simbamarcalamar really? The smoke monster was evil? Shock to me. The smoke monster was betrayed by his brother and forced to remain, frankly Jacob is the villain of the story. Look at how many lives he manipulated! Look at what his people did! Jacob is the villain and the smoke monster is a simple victim, who I honestly feel bad for. I was very sad when he didn't escape the island in the finale......
@animeguardianxx he only brought people that were "lost" in their normal lives. "I brought you because you needed the island as much as the island needed you" -Jacob when he is asked why he brought oceanic 815 to the island.
@drikke123 apparently the shifts sideways mean nothing then. The sideways shifts show what there lvies would have been like minus the island. They seemed to be better off.
@animeguardianxx the flash sideways world was the world they created together after they died. Jack made up a son to treat better than his father treated him. Hurley made it so that he was the luckiest guy in the world. AND the island was on the bottom of the ocean, because everyone felt they had had enough of the island when they had died. And the smoke monster betrayed jacob when he killed their "mom". He killed the man in black to avenge his mother's death.
Because Jacob and The Monster aren't enemies, in a traditional sense. "I was killed by an old friend who grew tired of my company."
The Monster has for some time been a 'slave' to The Others, forced to do Jacob's bidding, until he used his powers to manipulate a "loophole" to kill Jacob, which freed his chains so to speak.
This is what he means by "I was trapped, and I was trapped for so long I've forgotten what it was like to be free. " and why he wants to go home.
He dind't say 'I was trapped', he clearly said "I am trapped". It changes everything in my opinion. It means he's not free yet, even if jacob's dead. I think what he means by that, is that he's reduced to be a smoke monster thing and can't be human anymore.
I'm afraid you're incorrect. Dogen recently claimed in Sundown that "for a long time he has been trapped, but now with Jacob gone he is free. He will not stop until he has killed every living thing on this island."
In other words, The Jacob/Monster conflict is a form of rebellion, not pure conflict as some people have speculated for whatever reason, tagging him with silly names such as "Jacob's nemesis" or "Jacob's enemy."
@JASONMOORE87 Also I think it is all part of a greater plan. When Ben calls the Monster it is when the mercenaries are attacking him. Flocke sees the value of Ben as he later manipulates him. So therefore Flocke is protecting an "asset".
dude it's totally like spongebob when he draws a circle on the floor to be save from the monster

@drikke123 because the "mom" was a murderor, avenging the murderor was wrong. It was just the church that they created, not the whole world.

I suppose you're right ;) But I won't buy every Dogen's words. I'm pretty sur Smokey won't kill anyone.
