I believed the whole 'rescue' bit was an amazing stunt until 8:56 when you could see Ponch's front wheel wasn't turning. Damn, it seemed so real until then ....
i love the chase music they would put in the episodes!!! for a moment there i thought the hertz was the same as ecto-1. what im wondering is why the police didnt rush to block the streets, oh well, im not pickie..i love chips.
Chips was cool, they were just Highway Patrol but they always ended up doing Detective work! Then endings were always cool because something stupid would always happen like falling in the water, then it would pause and then everyone would laugh!
i watch this when i was a kid (early 80's), i was pretty frightened when the car stereo sounded *MOLOCH MUST DIE* ....cant forget that till now, scares the hell outta of me during that evening show aired on Philippines local TV back in the 80's.
I remember watching this episode when it first aired..WoW does time fly. Im 33 now and from age 5-7 I thought I was ponch riding my chips big wheel around my neighbor hood.
Well, it couldn't fail really, could it? Macho cops in bollock-hugging jodphurs, mean bikes, an awesome theme tune..the producers knew exactly what they were doing!
I see Erik Estrada virtually takes over the opening credits in Larry Wilcox's absence! Where was he anyway? Was this when he was in dispute with the producers over salary?
I saw this as a kid and have been looking for it for 25 years!!! Thanks so much for uploading this!!!
I was only about 4 when I saw this on TV and remember absolutely loving it, but I didn't get to see the end... Seems this episode isn't out on DVD yet, so any chance you could upload the entire episode? That'd be fantastic!!!
@socalltd thanks... unfortunately hulu only works for US viewers and I'm based in the UK! Thanks anyway, hopefully I'll get to see the full thing before long!
I am surprised that Gene Simmons didn't sue over the makeup since it was his design but drawn upside down. He did send a cease and desist to King Diamond though for his makeup though it was NOT enough like Gene's. I don't get it.
Here is something to consider : Revelation 13 - he causeth all both small and great ,rich and poor, free and bond to receive mark.....It is this mark that will be implemented world wide by the man of sin who is Antichrist .The producers of this show should not have put 666 on the car. It is serious thing and a wicked promotion making people to be carelessly desenitized to the significance of it -It is God's warning of what it is coming with the one world goverment : a system of total tyranny.
Moloch is so bad ass, he can show up to a concert, play 1/2 of one song (the same song that the band just played an instrumental version of) and bail!
Too funny. I came on here to show my nine year-old son the GREATNESS of the show C.H.I.P.s , which I enjoyed at this age. I love how the comments have turned into a theological debate.
The point is that the devil is real - but just because you can observe and see the physical world around you that is not all there is.There is far more to the world than meets the eye. There is also a spiitual realm inhabited both of holy angels that serve God and of demons that do not but above them all is the Almighty upon the throne of his glory. I know the devil exists but that the Lord Jesus defeated him on the cross of calvary by his shed blood This episode is very sickening and deceptive
The reason I looked for this episode is this-I knew that it based on the concept of KISS knights In Satan Service, and "devil take me "is a hellish song.I know that as followers of Christ we are to walk in the light ,illuminated by the Spirit of God.We therefore must expose this song for what it is-It is conceived in the heart of darkness by the power of darkness satanically inspired Jesus said I am the light of the world he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life
what a crock KISS knights in Satans service just because Kiss was such a hot band people had to bad mouth them. remember God loves kiss & Jesus died for them as well .
Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again from the dead. Jesus is the Lord the Almighty he is God the Son who shed his blood to redeem us from sin
I have been looking to find this for a long time -finally! there is a reason for it- 1) You see the devil is in fact Satan he is possessed of all that is evil he is a fallen angel who presents himself through a smokescreen in order to deceive people about who he really is and that he wants to take people away from the love of the truth which is in Jesus Christ beware also: the number 666 is what is revealed in revelation13 It is the number of a man who is the beast- Repent and believe the gospel
Thanks sincerely for posting this video. I have been looking for the old Moloch episode for years. I have not seen this since it originally aired in the late '70s.
After Rick Rosner (creator / producer) left the series it started to get cheezier and cheezier each season--worse scripts, horrible acting ( 5:44 )--culminating in this mess. LOL
Man! My folks would NEVER allow me to watch this episode when I was a kid in the 80s! Wow. This is great to see again even though I have the VHS copy off of TNT from the 1990s.
Tom Reily was an ok replacement but not all that great. Interesting how they used stock footage to fill out his portion of the opening. YOu could still tell it was Larry Wilcox, tho.
tell me about it, but whats funny is that ralph mouth from Happy days was the character of Moloch who knew Donny Most would play a part like that, totally not him at all
This character was obviously supposed to be a KISS wannabe, but now I can see where that douchebag King Diamond got his gimmick. Gene Simmons should've lost that lawsuit because that's a ripoff of Ralph Malph.
I remember watching this episode when it was first run TV. It looks like a Osmonds crowd ended up at a KISS concert...look at the makeup and the costumes - and the guitarist is playing a Fender Jaguar?? Not exactly a heavy metal guitar, more like Buddy Holly.
"Even as the devil's troubadour, I still got it!!!!!" - Donny Most, presumably on the set of said episode's production, confused over which TV character he should be playing.... ;-)
@CycolacFan It is a '62 Caddy, but if you look close, it magically changes to a '64 right before it crashes. So happily, they didn't ruin the '62, at least in this episode.
Hilarious! I remember this from my youth. Later in the episode it's revealed that it's Moloch's manager who is trying to kill him. Ponch foils the crime because he discovers backward masking promoting a 'planned suicide encore' for the next concert on his high fi reel to reel soundsystem.
I believed the whole 'rescue' bit was an amazing stunt until 8:56 when you could see Ponch's front wheel wasn't turning. Damn, it seemed so real until then ....
