LOVE DA BEAT! keep up the good beat Kiwini, well we shouldn't focus on the pronounciation of the Tongan words yea, I am sure we could understand him. Just like the Tongan Fobs singing English songs, what we should focus on is the lyrics since it seem you all expert on Tongan Languages, the lyrics of this song threw me off, doesn't flow or make sense at all..but hella beat (tauolunga beat) Peace Out!

somehow this song lost its feel and sound in translation of sound... i keep trying to feel n remember the original version but doesn't quite grasp it... my suggestion to Tongan artists that sing Tongan songs is to make sure the pronounciations are crisp and authentic... all it takes is a conversation with one of the elders to get the correct pronounciation! it will do wonders and get the feel of the song.....

You're absolutely right!!! I give him his props for singing the song! At least he's bringing a classic back into the ears of younger listeners, right? I'm not taking anything away from that effort! That's great stuff!! However, when I hear young Tongans perpetuate these mispronunciations, it makes me wonder how much music can impact the preservation of our language. Even if the artist themselves wrote it, the sondg still isn't crisp enough. For example, Small Axe:Ta'u Koula, Kalipolina, who else..oh yeah, Kontiki:Malie(Palataisi Pulipuli).
