I tend to want to rush too when I'm nervous! And I usually miss notes i never miss in practice, and the like. Usually it's just from anxiety and a lack of air support. When i've performed this piece in the past and watch the video afterward my only thoughts are "what the hell was I thinking, I had this piece down!"
Just relax, slow down a tad, use more air, and that will solve most of your issues. The more you perform on stage the easier it gets.
U really need to concentrate on ur phrasing and long notes, they add so much to a performace, never cut them short, if poss hav a listen to linberg's rendition of this
Nice work with some of the faster sections... could be a little clearer. Some things to consider: Don't rush first measure of trombone. In the 7th and 9th measure of trombone, the accidental carries for the full measure, please!! It's still C flat. Also, In the second section of trombone (starting on 3rd line G), make sure you tongue the legato and articulated passages clearly... sometimes the Dah parts are played as Tah, and vice versa. Polish up the second half. Tough piece, keep at it!
I think he did a pretty nice job with this... intonation, and certain notes could use to be fixed.. and it certainly did rush. But at the same time, it's not as though I can play this perfectly and it is a very challenging piece. And with the added pressure of an audience, I think he did a very nice job.
Anyone can play it but can you play it well. It's an oldish video that was a live performance. We all don't play perfect, not even Lindburg plays perfect. But if your going to talk shit, please post a video of yourself doing it. He has vastly improved and is one of the best young t-bone players in the state.
Watch out for that tuning man. That will kill you. All in all not so bad. I am disappointed that you didn't play it as written at 2:20. It's suppose to be higher! Just try tuning better when you play!
Thanks for the comment. Actually he is playing it how it is written but I feel ya. After hearing this piece hundreds of times by Lindberg it sounds wrong but he is playing it right. It's risky to play it up an octave and plus he lost his music weeks before hand. I did not get to hear it live but he did a great job for a 9th grader.
Really? I'll have to check at that with others. Do you have the Christian Lindberg edition? Do you know what measure number or letter that is? My brother has lost his original.
why soooo fast?? i cant even hear the notes.. :(

Don't get me wrong. He did a great job for being a 9th grader. I'm just saying, as written at 2:20 is up the octave. I have the music lol.

I do actually. It's the 8th bar after C if you find the music again.
tr0mb0ne9531 3 years ago
Actually in the Carl fisher edition it is written the way he plays at 2:20. And he did a really good job, better than me actually.
