The worst part? You could never get away with this today, as people are either too sensitive, or too politically correct. The beauty of this, All In The Family, and in later years, shows like In Living Color, is that they used humor to show just how stupid prejudices are.
The best example of this I know of is the Richard Pryor/Chevy Chase word association skit in the first season of SNL. Absolute classic!

Loving husband and father, hard workers who believed in the American dream, and willing to speak their minds (even when they made no sense whatsoever). Neither of them were racist, they were just products of their times.
This show was awesome, we would always be sure to be home to watch it, it was that funny! And we always sang and danced to the theme song, "Movin' On Up." One of the best sit-com songs ever recorded.

I have a book here at home that explains why the God of the Old Testament is a God of wrath and the God of the New Testament is a loving God. I will look it up. Either way, Jesus told his followers to turn the other cheek. His teachings have been used as an example by nonviolent advocates like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ghandi. The only difference between the three is that:
Judaism doesn't have a prophet.
Christianity has a prophet who preached Old Testament Law who was actually God.

Holy shit I thought this was going to be an overdub. I didn't know it had really happened. Sherman Helmsley (spell check?) was a great actor. I loved the message this show taught. He did really well as a counter point to Archie on All in the Family too. I'm so tired of that way that word gets thrown around today like it's a term of endearment.
