Thank god they did re-runs of the 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's shows when I was a kid in the 90's & early-00's. Was good to see what happened before the 90's & was cool when my parent's would walk in the room & say "yes I watched that as a kid" like Pink Panther or Wacky Races. Sadly nowadays they only re-run 1 or 2 90's shows late at night. Kids of today are missing-out big-time.
Another old, but oh so classic cartoon that was made with great thought and effort. Another cartoon that clearly shows the makers' love for their work and we who grew up with it got to enjoy it.
Mainstream cartoons of today can go down the drain for all I care
I loved this cartoon so much. Tom Ruegger was a writer for this show and he would later produce Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, and Histeria. And the theme is sung by Jon Bauman who played Bowzer on Sha-Na-Na.
Dirk dasterdly's cockpit is huge for such a complex machine (spaceship, sub land rover)- i've been inside tanks and even those are cramped as all hell

i dunno for sure, isn't this series made in the 80s or 90s?
that's not oldschool..compared tot he original cartoons made in the 50s-60s...the animation is pretty fluid and crisp, see the original cartoons to compare.
the 90s had good animation for the most part, and some very complex graphics.
cartoons today are more like the 60s-simple, jerky and lack animation or originality -see HB cartoons copying each other
you shouldn't nitpick this show for too many characters... you should nitpick "Laff-a-lympics" for not only having WAY too many characters but for having two villians that replace Dick Dastardly and Muttley (Dread Baron and Mumbly) as well as having the villian team being made up of original bad guys made up for the show.
I even made up my own team of really rottens who are not made up characters such as Muttley as team captain, Dick Dastardly, Dasterly's teammates Klunk and Zilly from "stop that pigeon", Hooded Claw from that penelope pitstop show, the hypnotist clown from scooby doo, the creeper from scooby doo, and Mr. Jinx because he is technically a villian despite being on Yogi's team.
wooh throwback! in kid times this theme tune was badass! to this day still hot for a cartoon from 1985, expecially rap which had many walls to break down back in the day, (ahem still does, KMT) bless the Hanna Barbera people for that
Sorry to burst your bubble cartoonfan959, but DVD of this series is just not going to happen. With the death of William Hanna and Joe Barbera, lots of Hanna-Barbera stuff just hasn't been available. Be lucky that some of it actually did.
Warner Bros. is in control and despite the deaths of Mr. Hanna and Mr. Barbera, their cartoon shows are still being released on DVD, Warner Bros are just taking their time with the releases, right now they seem to be stuck in the late 60's, early 70's shows, so it may be a while before any 80's HB shows get released. Who knows it may be one of the first HB series on Blu Ray or something, very unlikely, but it is a possibility.
I seem to remember from when I was very little, that I had something on a tape, where one big bear and one small bear ran together and then one big dog and a small dog ran together. But it was taped over really soon, already when I was like four. When I years later watched this show, I seemed to recognize the bears as Yogi and Booboo and the dogs as Doggy Daddy and son. I'm still not sure if that's correct, but if it is, it means that this show was on Swedish television back in the 80s.
OMG!!! I've been wanting to see this intro for years. I always liked it and loved the song! lol I remember watching this on USA...so I'm assuming it was apart of the USA Cartoon Express. hilic3 2 years ago
He's not a villain, he's just the authority figure. They just have a friendly rivalry on the show.
TB4000 2 years ago 3
besides, there is a reason why the villian's name is dick DASTARDLY and it's not just because he's a dick. *muttley snicker*
by comparison Smith is really a authority figure with morals while Dastardly is a just a dick *muttley snicker again*

Yet more censorship stupidity: How come they allowed vampires in this but not in the 90's Spiderman cartoon?
Gunganbuster 4 years ago
Well Vampires are allowed in cartoons AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT SHOW THEM BITE THEIR VICTIMS! Count Spankulot from KND is a different story.
Plus Morbius is a different type of vampire, or so I've heard.
