Even if the parent is currently stable due to prison confinement, that mother is going to struggle when she gets out and when the mother lands herself back in prison the innocent child is left longing and hurting for the mom it bonded with while she serves more prison time.

Imagine what it'd be like when that child grows up, knowing he/she was raised in a prison. (I'm not saying this to be funny or anything).
Still, provided the inmate is a responsible mother and will actually care for the child, I don't see why they can't be given a chance.
