I've watched it once. Five minutes of it. And I would rather cut off both my legs with a rusty old Stanley Knife than watching 10 seconds of it again. The worst part isn't that the Americans as always have ruined something great and beloved. No, it's the fact that people actually watch this. They think they are watching Top Gear. They think ''The Stig'' is The Stig. They think the Americans came up with this show, and they think it's great. Why do people like Americans? Fucking shit.
A lot of the bbc fans sound like a bunch of pansies. I personally love ustg. Why? Because it is the first top gear I saw. I've seen the bbc version and it's okay too. But I'm more used to the u.s. version. And before you hate on ustg at least get your facts straight and remember the u.s. didn't "copy" the uk, the uk owns the show. And also the uk original show didn't start off fantastic either.
Correction, my mistake. Adam Ferrara is the "comedian" who isn't funny and can't drive worth a crap. Tanner would've been better off as The Stig. Tanner isn't very good at presenting cars. At least there'd be less verbal diarrahea on the show.
Adam, Tanner, and Rutledge are 3 neutered, middle-aged men who never had a yoyo, a dog, firecrackers, or a fun childhood when they were small boys. They pretend to laugh at each other and themselves, when it was really scripted for them to do it. They lack genuine charm, humor, personality, character, wisdom, and anybody can see right through their "on-screen persona."
5. Entertainment/ Humor. Top Gear UK, even if it offends some, tries to slide some humor or genuine fun entertainment in their challenges, reviews, races, or epic trips. Which made it enjoyable to watch, moments memorable, added personalty to their character, and fans of the show can identify with the presenters because they too have had motoring mishaps similar to the ones on the show. The entertainment/ humor is what adds charm to the show.
4. Freedom to openly criticize car makers and cars. Top Gear UK got popularity through the free and open criticism of car makers and their products; newer cars improved as a result. Kia improved the Rio after Jeremy said it was "sleep inducingly awful" when him and James were looking for a decent Pacific Rim car. Top Gear USA dialogue is too bland and politically correct. Verbal mush because The History Channel doesn't want to pay for slander/ defamation of character lawsuits to car makers.
3. Show Format. Top Gear UK works because they thoroughly test a wide range of vehicles, shows the highlights and faults, add humor/ be entertaining, blend with good soundtrack, and emphasize the purpose best suited for a particular vehicle. Top Gear USA just shows off supercars and expensive muscle cars-- cars many will never see or drive in their lifetimes. Top Gear UK, at many times, involved the public in reviewing cars. Top Gear US doesn't and their reviews are "my way or the highway."
2. Vehicles presented/ show content. All they're doing is peeling donuts in muscle cars, banging on about POWER. And re-iterating that stupid nonsense about bashing imports, "Buy American" crap. People are sick and tired of being imposed to buy USA cars because its unpatriotic if you don't. The answer is simple: If it's good for many driver's needs and wants, reliable, good price, cheap to fix, we'll buy it. If not, we won't.

I think the cast is good....they got the video production right...but copying the same stuff from TG UK is lame... try to be your own...I hope the opinions are their own as well..didn't see a complete show yet...so can't be judging...but the dislike bar seems to be a good democratic indicator...
We Americans just buy the cars. I love TopGear UK, but I am not going to argue that this show sucks. Yes, yes, every time I watch it does kinda make me feel as if they're copying the originals version (well they are tbh) but it is actually really good.., and that's coming from an English person! There's so something exciting and addictive about it which makes me want more and I hope they keep releasing more. But it's missing something the English version has but, on the other hand, the British version is missing something which this has. It's really good and worth a try.

@gamerneek It wasn't, Wipeout was brought out in 2008, but total wipeout was expose to be out in 2008, before wipeout (Same creators) but the UK Version had to be postponed to to some technical difficulties.
Yes, Wipeout aired first but Total wipeout was put in production first.
Top Gear USA isn't terrible, they followed a similar but not identicle formula. However I found they did far too much trying to do crazy stuff and far too little reviewing super cars and just awesome cars.
There's only one way to settle this, Top Gear UK needs to make another vs. Double Decker Cars, 3 on 3 drag race, Football(Soccer) challenge, Rally Race having the UK Stig(James) with either Jeremy or Richard vs. American Stig with either one of their presenters, etc.
Why can't we just export the UK Top Gear to America instead of them having to have their own show with their own presenters? Can someone explain? Do they not get the British humour or something?

Yes, yes, every time I watch it does kinda make me feel as if they're copying the originals version (well they are tbh) but it is actually really good.., and that's coming from an English person! There's so something exciting and addictive about it which makes me want more and I hope they keep releasing more. But it's missing something the English version has but, on the other hand, the British version is missing something which this has. It's really good and worth a try.

Yes, Wipeout aired first but Total wipeout was put in production first.

Top Gear USA isn't terrible, they followed a similar but not identicle formula. However I found they did far too much trying to do crazy stuff and far too little reviewing super cars and just awesome cars.

There's only one way to settle this, Top Gear UK needs to make another vs. Double Decker Cars, 3 on 3 drag race, Football(Soccer) challenge, Rally Race having the UK Stig(James) with either Jeremy or Richard vs. American Stig with either one of their presenters, etc.

The presenters have no character, its not funny or witty...And above all: you can tell is comes from a country with entirely advert funded programming. UK top gear criticises cars to the limit, whether Asian, European, or American. US top gets a pick up truck and conveniently its 'faultless,' how much was the cheque from Ford guys? Top Gear has always been about freedom of speech, this strangles that. P.S I'm not simply taking a dig at the US.
