Some of the houses are impressive but the neighborhood itself is actually quite ugly- like almost all Melbourne neighborhoods. The houses are far too close and the yards are far too small. It is not at all leafy and green the way so many neighborhoods in North America are. Just Google streetview some upscale North American neighborhoods and you will see how much more aesthetically pleasing North American neighborhoods are.
@Max5941 This is all true. Sadly it's the fault of greedy developers who bought large old houses and divided the land up and built smaller houses. With regard to your comment on the trees and greenness, you'll see this video was done in September, which is autumn, so the weather is cold and most trees have no leaves.
Great work; very interesting & thanks for posting; as you say, I do not live in Melbourne, & have often wondered what Toorak is like & it is nice to see this, when otherwise I wouldn't have the opportunity.
Thanks for posting - this used to be a beautiful road - the houses were set well back from the frontage - lovely garderns with big trees - all gone now :-(
Thanks for posting this, I'm a property buff and I love to see how the other half lives. I don't think there is anything wrong with driving around neighbourhoods looking at houses, I do it all the time. It's not snooping, it's admiring. Rich people can't lock ppl out of their neighbourhoods unfortunately. Money buys lots of things but absolute privacy doesn't exist in this world as long as there are insatiably curious people like me around. Got any more vids?
I just think that you have way too much time on your hands to go snooping around toorak with a video camera. Your either showing off your wealth or peaking in at others, either way it is just tacky and sad.
No one goes peaking around your neighbourhood in cars with camera's now do they? What is the point? Why do it?
I'm showing people my area - not everyone who lives in Melbourne has even been to Toorak, let alone those interstate or overseas. So perhaps they want to see what it's like? Besides, not too long ago, Google went around Melbourne taking snapshots of just about every street, so yes, other people do go around in cars with cameras.
@Davez621 Yes, you are right... There are tours just to see it and also, there are tours to visit cemeteries etc. Taste is a kind of thing that we can not discuss in this specific case. For example, I work with Tourism and there are people who come to visit Rio de Janeiro and love to record poor people's places like Favelas. I, by myself, hate it but what can I do? Still prefer to see this amazing video. Thank you
