@gordonnodrogthomson 46664 (four, double six, six four) is a series of AIDS charity concerts played in honour of Nelson Mandela by South African musicians in the 2000s. Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island in 1964, and was the 466th prisoner to arrive that year. The prison administration's scheme of numbering prisoners was to follow the sequence number of the prisoner (466 in his case), with the last two digits of the year (64).
@gordonnodrogthomson The number was imposed on him by the prison for over 25 years, until his release in 1990. "Prisoner 46664" continues to be used, as a reverential title for him, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation uses 46664.com as its website address.
thank you !!! just wonderful, it's strange how music stirs up the emotions, reminds me of a girl i knew long time ago. I was crazy about her, yet she wouldn't even look at me !!! that was 40yrs ago... and still raw....
If you think Sharon Corr does the job on the violin solo you should see Stackridge perform it . Their violin player Clare Lindley totally nails that solo but adds her own celtic lilt to it. ( Stackridge with the writer of the song on vocals of course)
The song was written by James Warren . He and Andy Davis were The Korgis but their main band was, and still very much is STACKRIDGE. They tour the UK and include Korgi's songs in the set but with 9 Stackridge Albums they have a lot of material to choose from. Stackridge were on The Craig Ferguson Late Late Show on CBS TV on March 14th 2011
hello all, I'm french and like all french I adore this song Korg, I've tried to sing but unpretentious, I think I have some problems with pronunciation and c is for this reason that I would love to have the notice one English. thank you very much.

The Corgis sung it first during the early 80's then Beck did his version for Jim Carrey's The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind movie . Zucchero's made several performances of this song with diferent artists---- He always kicks ass!!!!!
Response to AnthonyAugust1964: "Much more ballsy"? The only balls here are the ones this version is sucking. Did you even bother to notice he plays the wrong chords (first time 1:18). It pretty much KILLS the song. This fool turned one of the coolest and most original songs that ever was a "hit" and turned it into a pretentious piece of s***. And sounding like Joe Cocker is supposed to be a good thing?
It's the best song on first Mandela's live concert 46664 at Noveber, 2003 in the Cape Town, South Africa. Zucchero, Sharon Corr и Queen (Brian May& Roger Taylor) - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime. It's really magic.

What I miss from the first note: the point in the original Korgis-voice.
Every song is a succes tru : song+singer
No copy needed.
The orignal has proven 2be the best.
Zucchero and Cocker like voices can do it all ,so what?
Bitches and governments do it all too.
Basta.
