They use Midi's, which while may not be as high quality as those made with real instruments, are small enough and versatile enough to be used with a java game. They could make higher quality music but it would require downloads, something Jagex does not want people to have to do to be able to play their games.

Also, if you find a copy of any of their midi's and look at it in midi notation software such as Noteworthy Composer Viewer, you'll see that their midi's are as complex as classics from Nobuo Uematsu, with 7-8+ tracks in different voices, all working together to achieve beautiful results with minimal processing effort. That's the beauty of RS -- great complexity in a minimal applet that almost any computer can run.

Download a new soundfont and place it in the MPC folder, renaming it "soundset3.sf2". Back up your original one first or you'll have to download the whole program again to get it back.

I don't play runescape too often anymore, but if I remember correctly, Flute salad is kinda in or around lumbridge also. Kinda north up the path, then to the west. North of that place with all of the sheep in lumbridge? There might have been a windmill around there too. I know exactly where I'm thinking of but it's hard for me to tell you exactly.

Runescape is a pretty bad game now, compared to the major MMOS. But this does bring back good memories, the simplicity of the game was nice. I always did enjoy the sounds of the game, they were soothing. Now, I see the game after several years and it's, disgusting. I will always have fond memories of this dead MMORPG, countless hours killing gaurds and lesser demons for my clue scrolls. Ah well, life goes on.
