  • i dont think this is the original music vid..it looks fan made

  • @martyn580 yes, it's fan made vid, in the vid you can see fragments of "Wuthering Heights" with such actors as Ralph Fiennes (I'm a huge fan of this man) and Juliette Binoche :)

  • Still don't understand the video, but love the track!

  • It's Voldemort!!

  • men back to the old days love 80s

  • Great song.

  • but it's juliette binoche. The male actor is ralph fiennes. Depardieu said about binoche: "She has nothing at all." (he means nothing special, no talent...) I'ld say he's totally wrong and an idiot to say so...she is canadian by the way.

  • @Schakalaka07 Binoche is French actress, not Canadian and her grandmother comes from Poland.

  • i would have babies with this song <3

  • @puckoster you're weird o.O

    :D

  • This song reminds me to my youth when I played it again and again day in, day out. It's still on of my favourites of the 80'ies!

  • This song is so dignified and so are the images of Wuthering Heights therein.

  • me too brings back so many memories

  • amazing classic

  • we are the better men

  • Ultra music

  • classic thanx for uploading

  • one of my fave midge ure songs from back in the day

  • this is so nice happy song! Dont you just love it

  • a very special song. maybe u have to be a bit special too to really love this song the way i do. I know many ppl who dont like it that much. i really cant understand why. its one of the best songs ever!;O)

  • Comment removed

  • @3kkoolguy The original (demo) version of this song by Messengers was never released! Surely you are confused?

  • @GvWeir you are probably correct and i stand corrected. It was played regularly by dougie donnely on radio clyde at the time.

  • wuthering heights was the film to song.....classic film Wuthering Heights

  • wuthering heights was the film to song

  • if I was what you're not...would that be enough?

  • come here my baby they cant touch you now!!

    Class!!!!!

  • come here my baby, they cant touch you now!!

    Fantastic song from Midge

  • what is the name of the movie?

  • Tolles Lied, aber grammatisch korrekt müsste es doch "If I were" heißen - oder?

    jenseits dessen:

Great song and Ralph Fiennes can look so gorgeous if he just chooses to! ;) I like the hair!

  • class!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Say, was this song part of a movie soundtrack or did they make these scenes just for the video? The song itself is beautiful enough, but the vid makes me dream. *sigh*

  • ...and i was quite fast;;)

  • i always used to listen to it when i was running. it gave me motivation

  • love this song, he still owes me for using my back for signing autographs in my local town after his concert lol.

  • u simply can not beat the 80's for great music its timeless im now 30 & was onlt 10 by the end of the 80's but i remember it all i love it

  • @bigusjimus80 80s... great cartoons, movies, tv and music... everything still had a sense of 'magic' about it... today everyone thinks they know it all, think they know how to make music or how to make films... no magic left.. shame...

  • is it just me or does every woman want their man to treat her (and sing to her if he can) like our midge sings in the song? i know i would.

  • This was No1 in the UK charts back in September 1985 and still sounds just as good today.

  • oh, i love this song, i think it makes you look at yourself shazam1059

  • Awesome work..

  • More Classics from the Vault of the 80's....

  • If i was....If only.....If only my auntie had bollocks, she'd be my uncle..

  • BRING BACK THE 80S BLOODY GREAT MUSIC,NOT LIKE TODAYS POO POO

  • omg write private mails! enjoy the song :D ^^

  • I still love that song

  • Nothing beats the 80's - Greatest era for music. It was always filled with sense of hope, love and dreams. Now a days its all about the opposite. Long live the 80's.

  • @FunkyMonk31 i totally agree with you. its like the world is giving up hope in music now.everything is so gangster and disneyfied.

  • @dcwpsycho I smile when I read comments as ignorant as yours, as you seem to not be looking at music OTHER than the mainstream radio stations. Look at the black metal scene, the underground electronic scene, the Gothic metal scene, the industrial scene - all things started in the late 80s and all going strong with much diversity and unharmed to decades.

  • @plummad take the largest of your nerd ass youtube college professor educated fingers and anally insert it.i happen to be a producer at vh1 and was one at mtv.if anything is on a media outlet like youtube then it is no longer underground so i guess you have nothing to post your highly expierienced opinion while typing on your off day at walgreens.when you actually know some of these artist then comment .have a nice day bagging groceries you ham and egger.the 80s were great.

  • @plummad and as far as black metal goes and all your educated music expierience goes all it is is fads that fade away after a month.if that music was so good why do we show jersey shore?? the early mid 1980s has vh1 classic.positive proof that no one wants to hear all that dud ass bullshit.rap artist come and go every week,we here at mtv use them and kick em to the curb.wheres sisqo?? kanye will be the next kool moe dee.its all about making dummies like you think theyre underground to make money

  • @plummad now like i said before you and your proffesional opinion non working in the music business ass commented ,everything today is commercialized, gangstered up (cause thats what shawty dumb ass will buy)and disneyfied (cause that what 40 yrold punks living in their moms basement like you buy).i know because i work at vh1 and mtv and we sucker everyone into thinking its underground and rebelious and anti republican.now defend some more you stupid ,mcdonalds worker, sheep.come on respond nerd

  • @dcwpsycho So you give a long response to essentailly only comment on American relations to music? What a waste. Working a VH1 and MTV does NOT mean you know what "underground" music is. Oh, and I am far from a "stupid McDonalds Worker" - and I'm far from a sheep. The idea of a sheep is flawed because everyone follows some philosophy, political movement, or musical taste - hence impossible to be "individual" or "original.

Oh, and black metal is hardly a fad. Been around for over 30 years.

  • @plummad Might of been around for over 30 years but black metal is trash.

  • @scatmanwfm It's not trash; just not to your taste. I know plenty of people who think this song is boring and not that great. Besides, black metal is hardly my favourite genre.

  • @plummad No this song regardless of liking it or not has talent in the writing and structure.. black metal is hardly on the same level.

  • @scatmanwfm In which case you're extremely ignorant.

  • @dcwpsycho Try looking into other styles of music before posting your "proffessional" opinion. Though I openly admit that popular music is very dire now-a-days, and that nearly all radio-play music is as you described; other forms of music have stuck to the roots that were established decades ago. Be it extreme metal (that essentially progressed from folk music during the late 70s and early 80s) or other alternative acts.

  • @FunkyMonk31 Totally agree with you, although i was only born in that decade, wished could have been child of the 80's, seem liked so many good times and great songs like this.

  • Midge fans should have a look under h ttp://ultravox.npage.de - enjoy!

  • Beautiful old song , greeting from Romania

  • Oh come on, think positive, The twelve people who voted thumbs down had shakey hands after such a performance and accidentaly clicked the wrong button.

  • one of the greatest songs ever - i love it

  • hate the video. love the song. wish a man would do to for me what midge sings about in this song. love ya ya little glasguigan .

  • midge ure has an awsome voice, i grew up listening to him, he runs rings around most of todays artists

  • The 12 who disliked this broke my heart.

  • love midge. been mates for 25 or so years. he's not my best mate but a close second.

  • absolutely flawless tune, a timeless, priceless, true masterpiece

  • Shouldn't it be "If I were...."?

  • Midge's horse is my dad's horse's cousin. heheh that's even more awesome, when you think about it. But only when you think about it. The moment you stop thinking about it, it's not that awesome. But then life's like that.

  • @psb1964: haha, best reply ever? most likely.

  • @puckoster Yeah, somehow I doubt Mark King would become involved in such an incident.

  • What do you mean by that? I was born in 1984 and absolutely love 80's music, but the 80's ended 20 years ago today, the year is 2010, 80's music is awesome, but lets move on the 80's are most certainly over and done with.
