@GMJ7 I thought i replied to this, but apparantly not!
Sorry for the delay. It is not at all difficult to pick up the melodica, with or without woodwind experience. You simply blow while pressing keys and sound comes out, the harder you blow, the louder the sound, and as long as you can sustain a breath, you're golden. Highly recommended for a fun go-anywhere instrument!
AWESOME! Nice work. Believe it or not, I actually played this piece! =) Your musicality even comes through (as much as the instrument allows) on the melodica! Cool.
So I was going to leave a little note on your Facebook wall asking what the heck that thing you were holding was, but then this link caught my eye. I am thrilled to have watched this.
haha, this is fun. i've been playing the impromptu on the piano a lot and at some point you don't care about butchering it anymore ;) must have been tricky to arrange for the melodica's range too. I also have one, it's fun to play, especially given how easy it is, earns the rage of all proper wind players ^^
@Sorcerer88 Too true. I used to/kinda still do play the flute, and its not half as easy as this. I'd love a bigger range... this is the cheapest half decent melodica though. Everything else gets real pricey real fast.
@HairSuitGentleman Definitely. If the bechstein was half sized, had plastic keys, and no action behind it to speak of. The keys have no feedback- so for repeated notes its far better to repeat with the breath instead of repeatedly tapping keys.
unbelievable

Suddenly Chopin sounds like he belongs in an Italian bistro. O_o
Very cool performance. Thanks for sharing it! :)
By the way, is it difficult for a pianist to pick up the melodica without any previous familiarity with woodwinds?

Very nice Jon! What's the action like on that melodica? Just like a Bechstein?
