@Alandar565 modern film projectors run at 24fps. Maxivision was a 48fps system similar to Showscan (65mm projected at 60fps). They were used for short ride and simulator films, I can't imagine the cost of shoot a full feature in that format.

film isn't projected at 24fps, it's captured at that rate. Old movies were even projected at 48fps
