I think the problem with the current proposal is two fold:

It's being rushed. For a bill that won't even be in effect for 3 years, why must it be voted on by November?

and

They are trying to make it all encompassing.

They should concentrate on one thing at a time. First fix medicare, for example, then look into providing healthcare for those who don't.

I read forums/blogs/etc, find an issue I feel is important, then research it on the most dependable source. For example, while finding the costs associated with the healthcare reform, I'd research the CBO. If it was military, I'd research the DoD. Global Warming, I'd research in climatologist's published papers, etc.
